I'm gonna steal your header idea for each topic involving this, since it's a really good idea. ^^
Re: "Blood Magic"
Yeah, that's more or less along the lines what I thought the highest of quality blood would be like. ^^ I imagine that any over-bearing social/political person who shows signs of less ignorance and authority than the Jury would be quickly... "annihilated," or stripped of their powers and practically... Forgotten about, along with their family.
Re: "The Jury and its Rule"
Yeah! Kidnapping! ^_^ Such conspiracy!! xD Haha...
I could definitely imagine a concentration camp being possible, although something less morbid should take its place... Maybe just some form of a dark, large chamber? It could very well be underground, and anyone who was "shunned" ends up there, not even knowing what lies ahead... This could definitely prove to be an easy escape route, though, since this chamber-like catacomb could be enormous, with so many branching tunnels and whatnot... Yet, they assure you that they'll find you, one way another; for, who could guide themselves successfully out of such a place?

>> Cough? xD
I don't think any families should be spared, unless they are confronted beforehand out of a vague favoritism, resulting in a choice of being a puppet in even more political anarchy -- or they could be "shunned." By political anarchy, I more or less mean that it'd be a chaotic form of rule. Although probably more like a secretive dictatorship, where the actual ruler's presence and altogether existence is not known to more than just these "puppets," who are too afraid of the possibilities of these "shunnings." This dictator would work through these scared people, without anyone being the wiser...
Although, it could even be a small group of people, and not just one; it could be a council of, say, three people... And we could twist it in a way where they end up being Non-Magical themselves; that they have no association with the Colony to begin with, yet end up nonetheless with a high-standing position...
I like the ranking idea, and yep, we're on the same page. ^^ I'd imagine there could be some massive form of social difference between the Magical and Non-Magical families, unless a prior position in politics or whatnot that they "earned" (cough - puppets) existed. So that would mean a poverty-stricken, peasant-like class - only more modern day...
I'm thinking my main character's family would be among the poverty-stricken; that he left home over a year ago, when his magic first started up. Other than he, his family was completely magic inept - and with that point, they really were just inept... Or so the Society observed...
Texas could be used, too. ^^ We just need to make up a set location. XD
Re: "Hermione"
... I imagine I'll have multiple characters from all over involved in this, yet my tranny psi-fraud will be my main. XD
Re: "Magical Children"
I think within the last year could be a lot better; meaning the people around our characters' age(s) would be the first to be effected... There could've been a lengthy sort of baby boom, with tons of people their age(s)... Yet the magic presents itself during puberty. ;p
Re: "Magic Elements"
The Chinese, Neo-Pagan, & traditional Greek elements sound fine to me. ^^'
And yeah, well... Jumping around is the name of the game... It's so hard planning all this. ><; -dies-
Anyway, about the whole idea for the OOC thread - yes, would you mind making it? I'm awfully busy, and I could probably benefit more from starting the roleplay versus setting up an OOC thread... I've tried before, and it's just so much... o 3o;
If you don't mind, anyway. Ultimately, it's whatever you prefer as well. XD
And no problem! Timing is not a problem. ^^

Went ahead and set up our OOC thread, Facade!
http://www.menewsha.com/viewtopic.php?t=31818
Post your bio(s) (even if they're as skimpy as mine is right now XD) and any other posts you think we need and I'll get to moving all decided information from here to that thread so we don't have to hunt for it. XD

Re: Shunning
If this story takes place in Tornado Alley (both Texas and Oklahoma are in there... though I'm not sure... I think Texas may be more likely to have cave systems), I'm sure there could be underground bunkers/storm cellars that could have been expanded upon, dug into local cave systems, etc... A virtual warren of connecting and different scary areas... :o
I agree. XD We should toss our group in there. >:D
re: Puppets
I like that... And the Counsil of Three behind The Jury (so many capital letters, but I kind of think that's awesome in an over dramatic way. >_> XDD I like drama. >V ) not being magical themselves and being from outside The Society...
Maybe... The Counsil of Three came into practice only in the last generation. They can have been people who saw the more or less innocent and good Society and decided to take advantage of the fact that they were seperate from the rest of America and wouldn't see through something like this as easily. They were already secretive, after all...
They used their influence in one Colony to eventually spider-web toe-holds into all or at least most of the other Society Colonies...
XD If I'm going too far with this - reign me back. :D
re: Social Differences
Yeah... "Magical" families would probably get great deals of the Colony land. Non-Magicals would be shunted into apartment buildings or something...? So it becomes "haves" versus "have nots". The older the family, the larger their land. And there's not really so much a 'middle class' as there is basically just, "This estate has been returned to The Society by the Shunned family. Your family has produced a magical child. You may have this estate."
(It's nearly six a.m... I hope I'm making sense still. >_< )
re: Elements
OK - one more question on magic. XD
We have the elements.... But are there elementals? Creatures big or small that our magic users can communicate with and receive help from?
(ie; Fire = Salamanders, dragons, phoenixes, etc)
If so - would every elemental magic user be able to talk to them? Or just some?
If they exist - are there multiple types of elementals, or only one type for each magic? (ie: Fire = salamanders only.) Or maybe, each elemental magic user only gets one guide per element?
I adore elementals - but I understand they can complicate matters. :3 So if you're not into it, we can keep that the stuff of fairy books. ;)
I thiiiiiiiink I covered everything I meant to! :o

Re: "Elementals"
I actually do like this idea. =D I think each magic user should be able to only apeak to one species of their element, yet there would still be numerous different species pertaining to their element (Like you said, fire = salamanders, dragons, phoenixes, etc. - the magic user could only communicate for salamanders, for example, yet another fire elemented magic user could solely be able to communicate with phoenixes... They'd be able to help one another out). And by communicate, I mean a lot of things; not only would they be able to verbally communicate, but they'd also be able to tap into this natural magic of the elemental, which would, in turn, help them perform more strong magic... Now this could either be more like familiars, where these elementals would be kept as pets, or like the general elementals, who are just there to be used, yet may also be able to accompany you -- to their own preference, of course.
I also imagine that the Jury would find this need to assign elementals to each magic user once they've shown that they're magic apt; the Jury wouldn't hesitate to see what would naturally be chosen for these magic users - they'd assign them to no avail. Their choices had a major tendency to be wrong, so they would immediately go about by saying only certain users had the natural need for these elementals... And thus, if you were correctly paired, you were considered even more high up in the Society by the Jury; for, to them, scarcely anyone could tap into the powers of an elemental...
Re: "Social Differences"
Apartment buildings sound great. =D But there would be no such thing as penthouse apartments, or any top-of-the-line suite available; they'd be the basic apartment, and depending on how big the family was, a certain amount of bedrooms. I think the Jury would find it idiotic to give a family of three a two bedroom apartment, though, so they'd probably be stuck with one bedroom... And yeah, the middle class should DEFINITELY be the magic & non-magic couples who manage to have a child with magical abilities...
By the way - we need to think of a name/term for these so-called "Magic users" as well as the "Non-Magic users". D: Something more... Class-oriented, or something.
Re: "Puppets"
I like drama too!! XD I mean, nothing too soap opera-ish, but all the same something dramatic in a roleplay makes for more interesting stuff. =D
And the fact that this Counsil of Three came into practice only in the last generation sounds perfect! They'd definitely be more or less mean-spirited, or just simply people who thought they could easily manipulate the Society; which they did. Of course, a number of years ago, the Society caught on to how much their humble communities changed; but by then, the Counsil of Three had already amounted a mass amount of power... In no way were they capable of overriding them.
Re: "Underground Bunkers/Storm Cellars"
Sounds perfect!! =D Texas it is, then. n.n We could just develop our own little communities, say, outside of somewhere like Dallas; blah blah blah, we don't need to go exactly from the geography books. =P
Re: "OOC Thread"
Alright, I'm gonna post right away! XD
I'll see you there? o 3o;
