It may be an opinion, but I'm damn sure of it. Unlike many people on here I judge my music based on musical content/ability rather than "OMG! That band member is hot!" or "OMG! That dance is SOOOOO awesome!"
Sorry if I offend anyone, but I'm -very- passionate about my music and get annoyed with all of these subpar bands getting more recognition than people who actually write songs with depth and passion.

The beat is okay. Personally, I love the beat, but as you originally stated, the lyrics are terrible and just classless and distasteful as most rap music is. I hate rap, in general. But this beat is very very catchy.
Why do I say this? At one of our college football games, the people working the audio at the announcer's booth played just the background music (those steel drums, over and over), and it got the players REALLY fired up during a time-out that was taking forever. Everyone in the crowd was enjoying it too.
Just goes to show how the beat to a song can be positive, but the words give a completely contrasting meaning to it.
Give me lyric-less music ANY day.

People could come up with an e-mail saying that it's a good song too, still wouldn't make it one.

Wow bitter much? Let me guess you're into anyone that's underground. Hope your favorite bands never become famous.

No, I could honestly care less whether or not a band is mainstream. It's just that many mainstream bands are terrible cookie-cutters of each other with no depth or musical ability. I'll listen to band like Disturbed or Rob Zombie every so often, but that's only because they seem to care more about the music than sounding like whatever's hot at the moment.
And I actually -want- some of the bands I like to become famous to boot out all of this emotionless crap promoted by MTV and the radio.

I wouldn't doubt it. I absolutely hate that song. I loathe it to the core. I hate that style of music, anyway, and that song is just...ugh. It has no music, just a lot of crazy groaning. It's not even singing. It's not even music! Why is it so popular? Yuck.

The lyrics of that song are absolutely disgusting, but for some reason I find the music ans rhythm really catchy. So I'm not sure what I think of it.

It's popular because that tonedeaf idiot Collipark (who probably hasn't played an instrument in his life, save for recorder in grade school) thought that Soulja Boy was ready to release an album the day after he warezed himself a copy of Fruity Loops.
Without the label Soulja Boy would be nothing more than a zit on the face of Soundclick right now.

I already knew that.
Once, I tried explaining to this one girl
that her new favorite 'song' wasn't exactly
...well, this song is obviously derogative
and disgusting. Being the dumbass she is,
she started singing it at the top of her lungs
instead. :/
This is just another reason why I hate mainstream
rap and all hiphop.

I agree that it's a bit offensive. But it's a free country, let people listen to what they want to listen. It's their own choice if they listen to it or not. Soulja Boy isn't putting a gun to peoples heads to listen to his song.

I think Soulja Boy is hilarious. I love that song with unadulterated adoration.
I like that Milkshake song too, and it's pretty nasty.
People should lighten up.

Yeah, I knew that, but I totally agree with Gossy. I LOVE Soulja Boy :B He doesn't take himself super-seriously, and it's amazing. It shows in his video for Yahh! that he's pretty much just playing around, doing what he wants... and I love it.
Come on, does anyone really expect rap to be super-sensitive and PG-13 any more? Most of it isn't created to be inspiring or push any lyrical boundaries. It's just meant to be catchy and up-beat so you can dance to it.
And for the record, I LOVE the dance that goes with Crank Dat. Like, totally and completely. I bet that most of the people who hate on it haven't learned it and done it in a large group of friends on a very long, very boring afternoon. C: It's so. fun.

I new there had to be a deeper reason as to why I hated that song so deeply. Now I can give a better reason than "It is the most annoying thing I have ever heard."

I don't know about the lyrics, but I can tell you, I really cannot stand the song. XD
Worse still, even though I don't like the song, it gets stuck in my head anyhow. I'll be doing something like cooking, or writing, and then suddenly, in my head - YOUUUUUUUUUUUU. It's really annoying!

I hate that song. xD I don't care if anyone else likes it or dances to it, because..well..it's not my place to care. xD Just cause I don't like it doesn't mean that everyone else has to hate it.
And. I knew what that meant. I did my research also. I gagged.
Props to Soulja Boy for having a catchy song. xD

Yeah, I heard about that, also, I heard that another line said "Spiderman that h**", and that means to have the sperm in your hand and fling it in the girl's face like Spiderman's web.
There's a lot of nasty things like that in "Crank That", but since they made the beat catchy, no one pays attention to the lyrics and you have freakin' 6 year olds dancing to it.

As sad as that is, it's true. I didn't think it was at first because I originally read it on YouTube but then I looked it up, because the curiosity was getting to me. True shit.
So naturally that made kinda hate that song. But then the Travis Barker version came out...and some sick part of me can't help but love that version. Something about the guitar and drums in that version just makes it cooler. Still kinda hate myself for liking it, but I can't help it x_x
That is pretty messed up though. I see how many young kids like this song and it makes me physically sick that they're looking up to someone who would sing about something like that and get loads of royalties from it. Ugh...let's hope something like this doesn't happen again.
But then I can't really talk...I'm a Seether fan and one of their songs is called 'F**k me like you hate me' Heh...guess it's really no better...
