PC - there isn't that much software I can use for a Mac, and it looks set to outlive it anyway :)

i hear so much about how vista sucks and the new MAC OS is a lot better than anything PC has ever done. Windows isn't hard to use at all. I've toyed with macs and they're not what people make them out to be. Hell my brother bought a mac and can't figure out how to use it.
I currently have vista on my desktop and Kubuntu on my laptop. Yes LINUX. Everyone keeps telling me "OMG VISTA SUCKS! YOU CAN'T DO THIS AND THIS AND THIS" Well i've had it since April and have yet to run into a problem.
For my next laptop i may get a macbook merely for the media side of it. But if it weren't for wanting the media programs i'd really have no interest in mac's. They've got a few features that are easier to use, but i prefer PC. You guys have to get a windows simulator program to run half the games out there, or you can *boot into windows bootcamp* and all this crap. OR i could just use windows to begin with rather than have the hassle of buying something then having to buy a completely different program to have to use to get that piece of software or game to work on my mac. Nope, i'll stick with the platform that runs it to begin with.

Mac is popular. but not used widely enough to have people out there making virus's and hacks specifically for it. its the same with FireFox.
"Security because of obscurity"
which is good for people.
but i still see no reason to start net-wars over who uses what

That would be odd, as just about everywhere I have been, people have been ditching IE because Firefox is so much more convenient. On my computer, at least, IE tends to lag before it opens, and is prone to "grey box" errors in avatar sites such as here, IMVU or Gaia. I hardly ever get that problem with Firefox - it loads fast and at the worst it will lag if it has to load a lot. But hardly ever crashes.
So if it's "not used widely enough", how come just about everyone I talk to has Firefox? I'd say that IE is on a decline these days.

it's still new, that's why not as many virus's are on it. Just like MAC's that don't completely suck ass are pretty new. Linux doesn't have virus's either because it's not as widely used or old as PC

I love my Mac, since it's been very convenient finding free programs and widgets to use on it. :)

@Dark Evangel
Of course the net is going to make something seem more then what it really is.
Internet Explore is common, and comes with computers. therefore it is the most used. FireFox is a download and its use is a tiny drop in the ocean compared to how many people use IE. popularity doesnt mean its the most used browser, it just means its good for the few million people that have it.
you can say IE is on decline based on its coding and instability. but its still the top browser.
until FireFox starts making their own computers, it will still be a "Cool Browser" to download, till people decide to go with another one.
why bother creating hacks, if you are only going to end up with a niche amount of victims.
virus creators and hackers go with what is most used. and that is Windows and Explorer.
not exactly a thing to be proud of, and the guys at Micro are not happy, but they try to keep up.

I don’t like Macs. Even though I’m an art student and have to use them for class, I still prefer my PC. In fact when I have homework to do I usually just do it on my laptop instead of going to the computer labs and using the Macs. : /

I can't stand any mac I've ever used, at school or if it was someone else's. I prefer PCs. I can't really put my finger on it, I just have always preferred them.

I love my Mac. A lot. I've been using Macs all my life so they're what I know best, and as I just said in another thread, Apple customer service is some of the best I've ever encountered. Even if Macs are super-trendy now, the company knows how to handle itself. Good on them.

i would prefer mac, just because of the fact that they don't get so many viruses, and of course, its mainly what designers, painters, and such use. but i own a pc because they are so much cheaper xD so being a pc owner, i like the mac better =]

I don't DISLIKE PCs, but I do prefer Macs xD I use both and have come to the conclusion that Macs = superior for lots of things, and although PCs are better for some things, those things don't happen to be very important to me xD
my old PC is a piece of crap, and my next computer buy will be a Macbook :3

I don't mind both systems but I love the PC, not painful to deal with when doing upgrades and also you can play GAMES!! Also I only like macs for the graphic programs, but hey I have to know how to deal with a mac either way if I want to go into a graphic designer's career.

I have an iMac and I love it.
It's very compatible with everything. I've had mine for 10months already and it still works as great as the first day that I had it! Good job for Apple for making it.
It also has a sleek and nice design to it!

- Not security because of obscurity. If you learn how to hack and such, you'd know. Macs are built much more secure than PCs. Besides, the number of Mac users is on a steady rise. I know we have over 10% of the market so far. I think it's actually closer to 20% at this point. Do you think that hackers and such would not target that portion? No, they would and do. So far there have been a few pieces of Mac malware and exploits, but they are by far much much more secure.

The thing is that Boot Camp is a free program. Parallels (the one you'd buy) just gives you more flexibility with that so that you can transfer files and start it up without having to restart your computer completely.
As to your more recent post:
Firefox also has less exploits in general than IE. Take this from someone who has done some poking around in the past. The whole security thing is completely true. Besides, don't you think that the amount of widely distributed malware out there would be relatively proportionate with the copies of the programs/OSs? It isn't. Firefox and OSX are both much more secure than IE or Windows although they're grabbing more and more users.
Then again, now that I think of this, it's kinda a stupid type of discussion. As my Ethics teacher/the director of technology of my school said when asked if a PC or Mac was better, "I do not engage in religious debate."

At one point, I had an iMac and PC at the same time. I really liked my iMac, until I spilled liquid on the keyboard and it stopped working. I wish my dad would look at it to see if it is able to be fixed. But yea, each has it's flaws and stuff. On PCs, it is easier to get viruses.

I perfer PC, it doesn't mean I think it is the better operating system, because I never really used Mac (I did once long time ago in my friend's house), but I generally perfer PC, since it can run most of the programs that I use. xD
