Well, as time goes by, you and your friends will somewhat depart. (Lucky enough if you and one of your friends still stay together).

And as time pass new things happen to your friend who you haven't met for two years. So one of my friends called me today. (She moved but we keep in touch).

We were talking for a bit and then I found out she got herself a boyfriend. O_O Now depending on who and what a situation is happening to, I either go speechless or "WTF?!?" and this time it was the second reaction.

She's only a freshman in high school mind you, and I would never expect her accept being a girlfriend of a Black guy. O_O I have nothing against Blacks, so don't think I'm being racist or anything. ^^; It's just that she's Vietnamese so I was expecting at least an Asian guy if she got a boyfriend? I was completely shock that I kept repeating, "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?". He apparently confessed to her on Halloween. >< But if she's happy, good luck to them. ><;

So GD:

~Ever been shocked about your old friends new bf/gfs?
~Ever had your friends shocked at you for having a bf/gfs?
~Etc, etc.

My brother has a girlfriend. His first ever!
EDIT: I haven't met her, and I've never had a boyfriend. And he says she's clingy... I don't get females, I really don't. I'm the black sheep, and the make-up wearing, boyfriend-having, fashion-following females are the white sheep. xDD

I don't get why she should have got an asian boyfriend? what does it matter if she's vietnamese? xP

and nope, never been shocked about my friends boyfriends. it's not my decision, but theirs :3

I had a friend who hated my boyfriend.. she didn't tell me that until after we had been dated for 2 years.
after she told me, she demanded me to broke up with him, otherwise she wouldn't be my friend >.> bye bye, "friend". *rolls eyes*

@Sagitar - Well, sometimes you don't find out until later who your true friends really are.
-
And it shouldn't matter whatsoever who you date, and their ethnicity, background or whatever should have nothing to do with what you decide, yeah?
-
@neon666 - I've experienced that. It hurts. ):

Nope.
Race doesn't really matter to me, my sister, or most any of my friends.
It depends if they're a good person or not.
You wouldn't stay with a jerk just because you were the same race, and you wouldn't shoot down a nice guy because you were different races.
My sisters first boyfriend was the same race as her, and he was pretty nice.
Now she might be moving on.
Though sometimes it's easier to connect with someone f the same race, more general things in common.
But theres a connection, you'd go for it, and see how it turns out.

@inseCuREly - I've never been in a relationship either. I don't want to until I'm out of college, to be honest. And it wouldn't be a relationship. I'd call them my best friend.

If I ever have a problem with one of my friend's significant other... I tell them what my problem with them is, but I don't give them an ultimatum though. It's their choice and I usually just hope that I'm wrong about them. I tend not to be, but they had to learn in their own time.

I don't think a freshman in high school is too young to date. However they are naive if they talk about how they are going to end up marrying that person.

I think dating is just... whatever.
I mean, like I said, I'd call them my best friend.
I wouldn't do any kissing, holding hands, or whatever. Yuck! xD
EDIT: I'm 19. xDD

My ex-friend dated several times while we were friends ( 7 years -__- ). I never understood why they dated him, he's extemely sexist and loves to insult people, which he does to his girlfriends. He's also very obnoxious and...crude -.-
Honestly don't know why I was his friend ( punching bag) for so long.

  • Hah, I was working at a videostore last winter when a really old friend of mine comes in. I hadn't seen her for a long time so we start chatting and we'd been chatting for a few minutes when I realize the guy she's with went to school with me some time back and is one of the best friends of one of my best friends. Mind you, they didn't know each other before, but they went to the same college I think, and get to know each other there. And then started dating. Too weeeeeeeiiiird. But cool though, they're both awesome people.

Guys in college are so much more mature than guys in high school. I know a lot, if not almost everyone, agrees with me there. ^^;;

rofl, well I don't generally assume my friends have a "type" but I have been surprised to find out some of them swing differently than I thought. |D

like when my ex asked me out it freaked me out because I thought he was gay. xDD (I'm a girl)

...But yeah, other than that I'm not usually surprised. |D; It's not totally my business anyways~

I was mildly surprised when my friend said yes to another friend of ours.
But they aren't what anyone would consider dating. Only in name are they together.

I was shocked when my friend, Chr' Dae started dating my other friend, Jake. Chr' Dae is like into the whole hip hop genre and Jake is more of an alternate rocker kind of guy. Plus Jake is younger than she is and she normally goes for older people.

After they broke up, they both came out of the closet and said that they were interested in the same sex. I wasn't too shocked about Jake being gay.

A year after that, Chr' Dae got pregnant by one of my exboyfriends. She still says that she is a lesbian though.

Yeah, I recently decided to find my elementary school friends on Facebook... and I was successful in finding a few. I was really surprised to find that two of my close friends are now gay. o.o;

I'm perfectly fine with gay people, it's just that those two friends were the ones that I thought would least likely be gay. I don't know, people change, I guess. ^^

@Shell-- How is she being racist?
Last I recall, racism is hating another race. It's not hating another race to say you're surprised if X person is dating someone you wouldn't think was their type.

I just recently started talking to a friend of mine from the fifth grade.
It's amazing how much she's changed, y'know? She used to be this goody two shoes type, and now she just told me that she got grounded "hardcore" as she put it for doing some bad ass shit.

My exact facial expression was "O_O"

  • Lovvy, I think what shell is talking about is that the original poster expected her vietnamese friend to get an asian boyfriend, and was surprised she had a black boyfriend.

I'm sorry, but guys don't just magically change after they get out of high school into college. I know a boy who was an idiot manwhore in highschool (seriously, one week he was gay, one week he was straight, the next he was bi... whatever he needed to be in order to convince someone to date him). Now that he's in college, he's worse, because he thinks that he's "cooler." >.< Dumb dumb dumb.

But on topic. If my brother ever gets a girlfriend, I think I'll kill myself. Or move out. Seriously, I wouldn't be able to handle THAT awkwardness. My brother is autistic, so even though he's a teenager, he's still got the mind of a cute innocent kid. n.n; But he's starting to realize things... like that girls have boobs. -shudder.- It's awwwwkward.
