Yeah~ I love the base~ I have a thing for big heads on tiny bodies. lol

On the grey one I think the black might be too dark. You might wanna lighten it just a bit so theres less of a contrast. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Then maybe darken the inside. I find shading black and white the hardest to do out of all the colours. I don't do it particularly well myself... =_=

  • In high school or college?
I'm a senior in high school...
I took all hard classes... I always slack off, not really on purpose it's just hell for me to do homework. Well, not *all* hard classes; I wouldn't exactly say Ceramics is hard (I didn't really have a choice on that one, it was the only thing available)...

Same~ High school. But these are my FINAL exams. I've already finished school.
Ceramics! How funky! What kind of things do you do in that class?
I took one class that was hard. Calculus... I've never been spectacular at maths but I took it anyway (better than statistics!) I ended up failing my first 2 tests... I've caught up now~ XD;; Haven't failed any after that

Not America apparently, since you call it "maths" :P.
But I didn't even take a math class this year...
Ceramics... we make stuff out of clay xP.

What do you call maths then?
Lol! Sounds like fun! I wish we had funky classes like that...

  • Whoa, I did? XD.

And we just call it math. I didn't "drop" it it's jst that it's not a requirement anymore and I'm more interested in pursuing languages and English and creative writing and don't really need much math for it. I thought it was best tot ry and pursue those things.

And I thought it was either Australia or New Zealand cause your seasons are opposite xP and the school years are different...

American schools are very lax, I think. I like hat it allows us a lot of freedom, really, but someone on the outside might say that it's far too easy. I think there should be requirements certainly but I think it's good that you're not automatically locked into doing one thing versus another, you have room to make mistakes etc...

Theres a lottery thread stickied in Community Discussion~

Math isn't a requirement here in senior year either. I suck at english. I always got the worst marks for it so I dropped it as soon as I could. Too bad it's required for 4/5yrs of high school. At least I didn't have to suffer this year!

How many subject do you get to take in senior year? We only get to take 5. It's been 6 subject in lower levels but in senior year we get one free option to 'study'. XD We spend a lot of it out of school eating out.

From what I've heard from other peoples blogs/journals it seems you guys have a lot more choices in courses. Like ceramics! We've only got general art courses which later splits into painting or design. We do have fashion design, graphics and woodworks but thats it for the practical subjects.

  • Yeah, that's the thing I love about the American education system. It's too bad that there has to be so much of a focus on math and science for businesses to flourish, because we want to thrive culturally and socially...

Anyway, xD, it's good in concept, and okay in practice xP. There can always be improvements, but... yeah.

We get six courses, but some students have five at the high school, and take a course at the local community college at nights. Some even have two college courses (and four hours spent at the high school).

Some form of English is required in our district for all four years of high school (high school = grades 9-12). We used to have humanities for all of the english classes, which is a great program which incorporates music (theory, mostly) and art (same, though we do do music and art compositions), up to two years ago that was a requirement, but thanks to No Child Left Behind (the presidentt's genius education plan :/) suddenly most of the teachers who'd been teaching it for years were no longer qualified, so we had to lose that program :(.

In our district, also required (for my class/year... they've changed for the current freshmen...) were three years of social studies, three semesters of gym (UGH), and two years of math and science. I did take math and science last year by choice, but this year I took neither.

Right now I'm taking First semester German, seventh semester (fourth year) French, AP Lang & Comp, Creative Writing, AP European History, and ceramics...I actually signed up for sociology (and drama, but mainly only because there wasn't anything else interesting...) but was unable to get it. I'm kind of glad for it though, because I like having the nice relaxed class ceramics, and i can't get behind in there because there's no homework xP.

I actually do enjoy the maths and sciences a lot. But what I really wanted to do is take all the hands-on courses as well. Basically I want to take everything XD. I hate how everything gets narrowed down so you can concentrate on subjects that is helpful for your future...

Humanities sounds like something I'd enjoy (but suck at XD;; ) I take art history right now and I love the class. I never got to go to a normal music class. It's only a requirement in the first year of high school and for some reason I got put in the choir class (when I specified that I did NOT want to join the choir).

LMAO! Sorry but that is hilarious! 'No Child Left Behind' and you guys loose the course all together? Ah~ Geniuses. We actually changed the whole education grading system a little while back and everyone's still complaining about it.

We have to do 2 years of social studies (*shudders* bad memories) and gym is compulsory up to 5th form (3rd year of HS). I've heard mixed messages about maths and science so I'm not too sure about those.

Ooh~ German and french! First semester German. Does that mean you picked it up this year? We aren't allowed to do that at our school. You have to have taken it from freshmen year or learnt by yourself and catch up to your year level for the teacher to let you into the course.

No homework for a practical subject! WHY DON'T THEY OFFER IT HERE! D: I took painting and design last year. The amount of homework was overwhelming! I had to drop one this year and I chose to drop painting.. Just too much to handle!

We've gone a bit off topic haven't we~ :P Erm.. How's the dolls coming along?

  • Well I think it's like... for practical subjects like that that would require us to buy things that cost a lot of money, and given the public school system we can't really do that...

I wish a music class was a requirement, I love music but I never took it in high school, music of any kind, because I just didn't have the opportunity among all of the other classes that I was taking. I figure it's important to take academic classes while I can, that's why I signed up for what I did... I'd love music though, it just isn't like... a learning class. Like it isn't something I can take out of high school with me... I don't know haha.

Yeah, it's a really backwards system. It's more concerned with giving children who are behind every privilege (which I support, sure, but there has to be a middle ground, and there have to be support for those kids who are ahead, too) and the result is that it takes away the classes which would challenge the more advanced students to keep them on their own level, rather than feeling apathetic because things are too easy.

I hate Gym x_x. Hate it. Motsly because it's miserable, it always made me tired, and also for the reason I said above that I'd rather take academic classes.

Yep, I picked it up this year. It's kinda cool cause I'm in with all of the Freshmen, haha. But it's really cool because there are a lot of similarities to English (obviously) and even a lot of similarities to French. And the teacher is always hyper, and we do a lot with music in that class (like we memorize popular songs from Germany... not the whole songs, just verses, but he plays whatever song we're leraning at the time all day). We even got to do a German version of a Beatles song XD. Because they lived in Germany and that's where they initially got big, so they decided to do a couple of songs in German xD.

And you're one of those left brained people, aren't you xD.

Dolls? Still the same as before, only reason I was up at that time yesterday/today (this morning) was becasue I was doing an all nighter for work so I was trying to stop myself from getting distracted... to limited success, but still... xD. You done any since you've started to get back into them?

My school's a public school too but it huge~ 3.5k student so they get a lot in school fees~ I guess that helps that we don't offer that wide range of art subject 'cause the money can be used to improve our equipment rather than essentials for lots of courses. We got fancy computers installed this year for the design students. They're pretty good and they got good programs. They have a lot of the adobe programs like photoshop CS3~ and it's almost a class set so we have like 20 computers with that~ I meant that I actually did stuff in class some of the time! XD

That doesn't sound too good. I don't know what people are thinking sometimes when they mess around with school systems.

I hate gym too. Never been athletic.

That's so cool. My school doesn't even teach german.

I'm actually... Half-half. It does look like I'm more of a left-brained person but I enjoy the sciences as much as the arts~ I guess it's 'cause I'm satisfied with my schools science courses so I don't talk about it as much as my art subjects.

D: I've had to stay up a lot last week to finish my design portfolio. didn't sleep for 2 nights! (not in a row though) This is BIG for me 'cause I love to sleep. Did you finish your work? Nah~ I haven't done anymore dolling either~ Spent some quality time with my chem book today~

  • I dunno, I'd rather have a more well-rounded course list and slightly outdated equipment that works than not have thtose classes... because there are people who donn't do good in the academic classes and they need an opportunity to be good at something too, plus kids need to have those resources available to them *nods*. And yes, I *finally* finished my work. I have atrocious ADD andI just yesterday started back on medication for it... yeah.

I used to make lots of dolls back in highschool... I was good to the point where I could make my own bases, but then the computer I was working on self destructed and I didn't have as much time fore it when I got into college.

I then moved to doing avi edits on gaia... but i don't have that laptop anymore so it's harder for me to make them anymore...

Did you manage to save your bases? My computer was like that a while ago. I had to completely reformat it a few times, losing everything. I always tried to save as much work as possible. I kept the files with my bases in a usb stick so I wouldn't loose them (unless I loose my usb stick which I thankfully didn't ><; ) I really liked this one base of mine so I took extra precautions with it.

  • Yeah, I do now haha.

And that's what's useful about all of those web desktop services, as well as the backup hard drive I got after *I* had to lose everything on my computer, haha. And then I had to lose it again because that computer got replaced, but my new computer got all of the stuff on my dad's computer transfered onto it, so it has a lot of my stuff on it to begin with, which was convenient...

And gah. The medication I'm taking seems to be making my heartbeat really fast, which means I can't take it anymore at least until we figure if it's the cause (which it seems to be). It's depressing because I finally felt like I was in total control of myself and getting my work done. *sigh*

  • Yeah I'm kind of discouraged now. It worked amazing yesterday, that's the first time anything helped that significantly for me (that I recall). And work is such a problem for me, I just hope I can find something. There are other brands of course, hopefully things work out all right. *crosses fingers*. I was nearly in tears a couple of times this afternoon >.<.
