@Kin
I like the one you have going now. I'm not sure how long I'll stick with this avatar before I go back to my other one. I seem to be stuck on this black and white thing. :roll:
@zombie pixie
6k or best offer. :) Others have offered 5k but I'm not in a hurry to sell.
@Cami
How's it been going? I fail at getting on AIM lately. 9_9

Nope. I have company coming in short order. My cousin is coming over and we'll be playing Rock Band with Cole. :XD Then Mom's coming to join us for dinner.
Then I have to begin research on my paper. 9_9

Sounds fun. <<,,
Mm. I'm just a little depressed. I didn't get the job I had three interviews for, and though it wasn't my dream job, it was closer to my dream job then much of what I'm applying to now. Plus, my mom's starting to talk about me moving back in with them or in with my brother if I don't find something soon so that I can save money and have extra cash for flying to interviews, should need be.
Bah.

Oh jeeze. Yeah, I can imagine how good you'd feel going back under her thumb... sigh. What are your thoughts on that?
I'm sorry you didn't get the job. That really sucks. :( I had hoped with three interviews you would have had it nailed. Do you have any other pending responses or has enough time passed that it doesn't matter?

I already know I didn't get the other two jobs I interviewed for, so nothing pending right now other than applications.
I actually suggested the brother thing after she said maybe I should think about moving back in with them. I would far rather live with K&M then with my parents again, and they have a house with several extra rooms, so it would be doable. But that's in Delaware, and still far from the jobs I'd be applying to, including the ones in Boston. I'd be further from what contacts I have and less likely to be able to network with people in my field.

Ugh... I wish I knew more about your field so I could actually suggest something rather than sitting here like an idiot going, "oh gee wow that blows".
I highly doubt there are any major publication-related jobs in Maine. Portland would be your best place to check, and for an interview it would be a bus ride away.
But I agree that moving is a crappy option. Obviously you'd have to do it if your money runs out, but SOMETHING has to show itself.
Have you thought about getting a different job to help pay the bills until then? Like at B&N or something similar like you had done before?

Yeah. I'm looking at that more of a possibility. Retail's not doing that great either right now though. <<,, Borders just laid of 12% of their staff nationwide. Plus, that would be an awkward interview. Yeah, I'm really only wanting to work here until something better comes up. Could be a week or two.
I'm trying to work up the courage to e-mail Emily and ask her if there are any jobs at her company. It's customer service, but it's at least in publishing and I'd be able to not move while I looked at other stuff. I'd have to e-mail Emily though. <<,,

You don't have to tell them you're only looking for a temp spot. Hell, go in there with your all. Then when a better job comes up, give your notice. It wouldn't look bad that you quit because you were getting a degree-related job. You wouldn't be quitting because you "just wanted to". :yes:
I'd toss her an e-mail even if she is a jerk. It'd be a case of you getting a job. Or she might be able to name some other agencies you've not heard of that could be helpful. It's definitely worth a shot.
As things stand, how much longer do you reckon you can live where you are? (As in no retail work or anything like that, but just as you are now.)

Chi: Until I run out of money, still a few months, certainly. It's more an issue of if I get a job interview in California, or in New York, or anything that involves travel, how am I going to pay to get there?

While you and I both know it's not necessarily "good" to use credit cards when money is so uncertain, I think in this case it would be allowed. Saying that makes me nervous though. I wouldn't dare do it when it's a "maybe" interview. I definitely see the bind...
I think it depends. I would say look into Portland and perhaps New Hampshire areas... as they could be a bus trip. If you exhaust those options, then deal with the decision then.
I would say for now try to secure something in retail while you still apply to the type of job you want. At least you could pay the bulk of your bills with the retail job while saving your reserves for possible travel.
You could always ask your parents, too. I know that's not a good option either. ~_~;
I'll be back tonight. My cousin just called and is on her way. *snugs*
