I spent an exorbitant sum on the hairpin, so now I'm in "omg rebuild my stash" mode and don't want to spend anything on anything. :)

lol Well Kin kind of just answered that one. XD

I'm sure that the both of you guys can eventually come with enough for the whole set. :3 From what it sounds like, Giving Back is a good way to get the first of the set, and then you can just work for the other one. So I see your point Chi. ^^

At the same time I understand the whole wanting to build back the stash thing. I'm working on that right now. ^^

I don't think I will be bidding on much - not enough pure to spend really, so if it gets too high I won't have much left for exchanging.

He says that, yet he's looking through the rules right now. xD I think he's in "run around in circles" mode until he makes a final decision.

I've yet to really exchange on Mene. Not in the proper sense of the term. I sell, but I don't often buy. I could buy and resell, but I've not invested enough time into it yet. I'm debating on it though.

See, I ended up with a lot of Pirate and Ninja sets because I traded a Bee and Panda set for them that month. The investment ended in my favor. Several months I've traded slippers for CIs because I was fortunate enough to donate for a buttload when they were out in October '07. :XD;;

But I've yet to actually try and buy low and resell for profit yet. It'd give me something to do, but I think I'll wait until if/when we get a marketplace.

lol Rhythm and I are the two main people that do it currently. A few others come by when they can. But it's pretty tough to exchange right now without being on at the exact right time I think. There's too little going on you know?

So it's understandable that you don't exchange, especially with the lack of profits you get from it. I don't get much for my time. XD I should try to shoot for more profits, but with everyone going off the price guide it's kinda tough. You may as well make more from the 1K a day from games. o_O

Art is where you can break out of the mold. But I'm not good enough to do that yet. Nor do I want to. Being a slave to your art is just bad. I want art to be my self-expression.

My friend and I were discussing the price guide earlier today. With our current market, a lot of sales are under-reported, and a lot of items just aren't being sold. I don't find it really fair for someone to put an item up that's not been sold in months and feel obligated to go by price guide.

It seemed some felt Kin overpaid for the Green Clover Hairpin, but dang, they're rare. Sellers can pretty much charge whatever they want. Inflation happens. There aren't enough to go around to all who want them.

I know that a lot of it is fear that our market will become unstable and too much inflation will happen, but a day will come when some things are just too rare for the bulk of the user base to get.

It's up to the staff as to whether or not to combat it. They do a lot right now with Quest Raffle and GBA. Maybe if there comes a time where that isn't enough they could do prize giveaways or something. Despite hesitation, I don't think adding in 1 rare set into the community once a year is going to crush the economy in terms of those who hold the rares. 9_9

Yeah that's why I've moved away from using the guide when I sell things. It isn't quite accurate. Yet when I purchase, I have to use the guide. In a sense, I've tried to offer what I feel is a fair amount for the item in many cases either it's lower than the guide or I can use the guide to buy things at low price guide which might go for more.

I admit that I haven't reported anything at all to the price guide. I don't feel that reporting those sales is accurate. Either way, it's going to be an estimate. And a lot of times I sell based on the price guide price and just add a finder's fee which has nothing to do with the item's price.

*shrug* The prices will increase. That's inevitable unless they release items in a steady stream corresponding to the ratio of users on the site. The Giving back Auctions will only go for so long if they continue to only use items taken from banned accounts. They need to have it change or it will end up not working eventually, just as you say.

Inflation will happen though, especially with the games and stuff there for 1K per user per day. I think a lot of prices right now are too low due to this fact. It takes a single day to get a CI, so what's the use of donating to the site? You only get 1K and you could just work on the site a day doing games. :/ Eh.

Were you here when CI sets were around 500-750g a piece? I'm not sure when you took your break, so I'm assuming you were. The games contributed to that, but it's always a pull and tug where the entirety of the site's well being is concerned.

I'm a collector. I love the aspect of avatar sites and collecting each item. But some could care less. My best friend on here just doesn't care. She likes to donate for items that fit her personal tastes, but she could care less about investments and stuff. :XD I never understand it, but it's just because this is where my focus is (the Exchange).

We have a fairly large user base, but only a small portion of us are into the Exchanging thing. Others like commons, so the 1k (for those who take the opportunity) is great for some. It's just hard to gauge what all happens I guess. ;_;

Me? I like the rare aspect of collecting. I own very little commons in comparison to rares. Eventually that'll change I'm sure. :XD

Either way it'll be interesting to see what happens with the market over the next couple years. :yes: I think a lot of it will depend on the new blood, as to whether or not they like collecting or are here mostly for the forum interaction aspect.

I just like the best of both worlds (chatting, collecting) and it seems you do, too. XD

Edit: Back to gaming I go. *puts geekdom back on* D: I'll be back later.

Yeah I was here when they were like 500 gold each, so I had to donate for like 6 of them in order to get the 3K to pay someone back. That's like 6 Crowns I had to give up. :/ Imagine if I had those today.

But yeah, I'm glad that the commons are such high quality. It keeps them steady as a price fixer and allows for gold drain. :)

Take care! ^^ I'll be back on later, I have to get food and I may draw a little bit and work on homework.

@Alexi
Ouch. ~_~; That's comparable to my friend saying she was on Gaia when the halo was out (when you could donate $0.01 and get it) but she didn't think it'd be worth it so she bypassed it. And all the others until late 2003, if I remember right. :XD

@Windy

The actual story is that I didn't even realize donation items existed until September. XD And then I didn't donate because I didn't like the mini wings. Donated in October though.

I actually really, really, really wanted headphones. I saw someone with them on September 1st or 2nd and asked where they got them, but it was too late to donate and I didn't have the gold to buy them in the exchange (which wasn't all that active back then anyway).

Ahhhh. Even worse. :XD I knew you bypassed one good month, even if I got that month wrong.

But, such is life I guess.

What are your plans today? I'm waiting for the licensing program to update. For whatever reason, I am tired today. Fighting to keep my eyes open tired. XD

I'm back at my school, looking up contacts.

I now know eight ways to get in touch with someone on the Oprah Winfrey show.

I did manage to make it to the bank and deposit my checks, despite the bank manager's apparent dislike of dealing with customers.

Tough for them, right? x.x You had to get it done.

I dunno how long I'll be working here, but hopefully I'll be able to make the mail. Right now my grandmother and mother went out for lunch and errand-running, so I have an hour or so of quiet.

WHAT DESTRUCTION SHOULD I COME UP WITH?!

D: I have so very many ideas.

Well, apparently my bank now has ATMs that can image read checks so you can deposit without ever entering the sanctuary of the bank manager's realm, and she seemed pretty insistent that I use it.

That seems pretty nifty, even though it doesn't dismiss her job. I like technology and all, but sometimes things get almost too impersonal..

I finished my destruction. I got a glass of ice water. :yes: That's enough.

(Though the door just slammed of its own accord, and I'm not quite sure my heart's beating yet. Oh, wait. There it goes.)

I figured out why I want to sleep. It's 80 degrees, humid, and I have no fan.

Dx And it's only a bit past noon. I wish the weather would straighten out. Either it's 50 with massive winds and rain or 80 and scorching.

That sounds about like what our weather has been lately. XD I like when it rains though. If only my umbrella would hold up against the wind. I don't mind walking in the rain, but I hate being out of the rain and soaking wet for whatever it is I'm doing.

Cole wanted to get an umbrella when we were in Bangor last. :XD I should get one. Though I dunno how far of walks I'll be doing on campus this year. It shouldn't be like last semester where I had one class in one building and others... well, you know how it goes. Blahdeblah.

I think all my classes this semester are in only one building.
