I don't think Pam will be coming over until the end of June. I don't know exactly what day it'll be. I'm already a bit apprehensive about the whole thing. I guess I have to smile and play happy family for awhile and see if she takes it. I have a feeling her mother will be working her insecurities on the sidelines.

Right now money has been really tight and it makes me worry...I'm looking at the calendar and while most of our bills are paid for this month, next month is just around the corner.

She's apprehensive... I'm apprehensive. Its all around in my daughter's best interest to move in with us. Their mother is a useless leech and I don't want Pam thinking that that is an acceptable way to live your life. Izumi and I may not be all that successful, but we earn what we get.
So I gotta try to convince Pam to stay while being flat broke when her mom will be trying to buy her affection. Its an uphill battle to be sure.

See if she takes it? I'm confused. Takes your act of smiling and playing happy, or did I misunderstand your post?

What makes you think Pam is interested in the money? A lot of times kids just genuinely want attention and to be cared for. If she's old and mature enough to come to you and say she's unhappy with her mother, she's probably old and mature enough to understand that you guys are going to work your asses off to make it work. She may not give a crap about having money or a lack thereof so long as she feels safe and loved.

Chi - I'm hoping so. We're getting by though, and I'm hoping she'll appreciate the fact we have it better than some people. I mean we still have our toys...our internet, etc. I think it's just kind of stressful when you know their mom threw a big birthday party for Tristan and had a bunch of his friends over, when all we're doing is a small family BBQ. I told Aaron sometimes it feels like she's trying her damnedest to out stage us, and really that's not what it's all about.

I think that their mom has learned that the kids are getting older now and soon bullying tactics aren't going to really work so well as both kids have been told that they will always be welcomed here. Now I think she's switching her game to guilt trip the girl as she still sounds very apprehensive herself. I'm hoping that she's able to put that aside and think about her best interests even at 10. I think we would give her a much more stable environment for a start. We're both married and committed to working things through and our worst fights seem to pale in comparison to some of the stuff I've heard about their mom's relationships...which makes me sad. :(

The bulk of the situation (at least the bits you've presented) makes me sad. I hope that both you and your husband are able to put aside your hesitations and just jump in and do it. Kids really do appreciate honesty, should the need arise. Just because you guys feel the ex is upstaging you doesn't mean the kids feel that.

We sat down and talked to her about it and we're hoping she really does move in with us. Apparently her mom already told her that we won't be taking her to the doctor as much and we explained to her that we ourselves only go to the doctor on an as need basis and for simple things like a cold most people DON'T go to the doctor.

I'm feeling a bit better today. I spent some time working on her brother's cake with her and she did an outstanding job helping me put the frosting, icing and sprinkles on the cake. If you want I'll load a picture on photobucket or facebook to share. :)

I'll also hope that if she moves in permanently, something with the court could be rearranged for better medical care. She'd be your dependent.

Might as well not go there now though. If brought up to the ex she'd just wig out and refuse a portioned loss of her own benefits. :roll:

Yah we're going to try not to bring up anything financial until she moves in, and then have the courts back date it from the date she moves in all her stuff. The thing is if we DO bring it up, the ex could use it to argue that we're only wanting her for monetary gain which isn't true. It'll be nice having to pay out less to her, but that isn't the reason why we're wanting her to move here.

Yeah, just play it by ear and tackle it if she moves in permanently. :3
