I did date my best friend. Now we’re married so it all worked out in our case. Some cases I wouldn’t date a friend just because if things didn’t work out you’d risk losing a friend, but things have ma way of working out for the best so I tend not to worry too much about that kind of thing.

I wouldn't, not if it was a good friend.
I would fear losing them as a friend if it didn't work out.

Me and my best friend for 5 years dated eachother for 7 months, and we are still great around eachother, and we both wouldnt know what to do without eachother.
I still love him alot, and his sister thinks he still loves me alot, but, i'm glad we have our friendship.
You could say we are soulmates in an other meaning of those words.

I would. Well, more correctly, I have. My boyfriend and I were pretty close friends when we were younger. Then he moved away for a couple years, came back, and we ended up going out after we got to know each other again. We've now been together for 3 years. <3
I think that it's pretty important to be friends with your significant other. You could be friends before you start going out, or become friends while you're dating, but either way I think it's needed. You've got to get along, have fun together, trust each other, and be there for each other for it to work out, you know? If you aren't friends, then chances are, it's not going to work out.
And as for if you break up, then you'll find out how good of a friend that person really is. If a friend wants nothing to do with you once you've broken up, I personally don't think they were a very good friend in the first place. o.O Unless it was some kind of super horrible break up, I don't see why a mutual one would make friends hate each other. As for the awkwardness, that would pass.

I already did date a friend - I had been friends with the guy for almost 10 years before we started our relationship - because we were already so close things moved very fast - it was almost like skipping the first 2 years of a relationship.
It was a wonderful experience - until it ended. For me it ended terribly - we broke up but were still sleeping together and then he started sleeping with one of my friends. I found out and cut things off with him and moved on - not too long after that he got the friend pregnant. They're married now and have a few kids- but because he did that our friendship was completely ruined.
I think that if he had not led me on and kept me around while he was moving on to other girls we would of eventually been able to be friends - but because of how things went down friendship is virtually impossible.
I still see him every now and then - things are still awkward, even after more than 7 years passing.
At this point I consider my current boyfriend like my best friend - but he started as a boyfriend and the friendship developed over the last 7 years - and I hope it keeps developing and growing in the future.
Would I date a friend again? yes - because friendship is an important part of a relationship, even with all the risks of possibly losing a friend if things end.

It really depends. I have a friend that I've known for 14 years, all of my life. She was 3 months, I was a day old. So in terms of her, no, I wouldn't date her. It be waaaay too awkward. Otherwise, the people you date are generally friends beforehand. So yes, in that case.

I dated one of my close friends once. We decided to split though cause he had to move to canada, but we still talk every night to each other. And I know if he came back we'd get back together.
However, he's not moving back. At least not for a while. I go up and see him every holiday.

I don't really have any friends that I would ever consider dating. However, if I did...yeah, I would. My friends are the kind of people who are willing to adapt to changes, so if we break up, we can still be friends without it putting a strain on anything...and, as you said, I'd know them better than some random stranger. Not only that, but I trust my friends not to go and stab me in the back...unless, of course, they're walking along, carrying a knife, and slip. Which could happen to anyone, either figuratively or literally. XD

I wouldn't date a friend because it messes up your friendship if the relationship doesn't work. Which I have seen happen all of them ended messily.

depends. The guy I'm with right now, I was friends with for a good five years before I told him how I felt about him.. I knew he felt the same way, hell I'm pretty sure we both had a good idea about how the other felt, but we were just a little chicken to take the next step.
Relationships with someone who has been your friend for a long time can be really fulfilling because they understand you a lot better than some tard you might have met in a club.
I have a really strong feeling that I might just marry this guy. When you can bond on more than one level, it can take things to a better plance than just meeting some random dude.

I think it would be easier to date a friend because then you're already fairly comfortable around them. Rather than someone you barely know. But I say that because I'm very quiet towards new people.
Fullmetal~ xD Those slip and fall incidents are pretty deadly.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it "Dating"
I've shared romances, Illicit and Plain, with some of my friends, and we're still a pretty tight nit group.
(By Illicit I mean the stuff in bed (Or out xD)and the Plain stuff too. And by Plain I mean going to movies, playing "Hockey", going out to eat, Et Cetera.)
We haven't actually notified it as "Going Out"
Just being really good friends.
Although I have only dated one girl. It got awkward, so I said "Yeah... This is Awkward as fuck. Friends again?"
Her reply was practically the same. We're still real good friends.

one of my friends is now my significant other. At first, I though no, because it would ruin the friendship, but after knowing this person for a year, I asked the person out and they said yes. We've been together three months and are very happy together :D

Sure! I usually end up liking good friends anyway. It can be awkward, but at least if it doesn't work out you know instead of being left wondering about it forever.

No I wouldn't. Okay when I go out with someone and we break up I never want to see that person again. If I were to date a really good friend and we broke up it would be horrible because I would no longer have that friend to talk to. It would be to painful for me to talk to them.
