As anyone who browses the Menewsha Exchange knows, the price of the August and September CIs have skyrocketed. By the thousands, even. What are you thoughts of this, Menewshans? D:

Personally, I think August and September was when school started and people didn't go on Menewsha much.. but.. I'm also convinced that someone somewhere has 20+ pudao's and oriental fans in their inventory >>

Inflation!?
Conspiracies >>

It's because of the sudden influx of new users...

Since many people want a complete set of mene's 1st year CI set since the year is ending >.>;;

And... the poor circulation of their supply... it's also one of those contributing factors to their sudden inflation.

They have? I didn't know. I still value my spare fan at 100 gold... I wasn't on in August so I can't remember what they were offhand...

I think too much inflation is horrible. I can understand gradual, slow inflation though.

Wow thousands for one item? O:
When was this. I guess it's because of people wanting to have sets while the site is still young. And because lately, Mene has been gaining a lot of new users. So I'm guessing that our economy is gaining more gold and demands are increasing. XP

If only I bought tons of spare I'd sell them now at 500g a set xD

Ach, too late, Aero got it for 350. I bought like 5 of each (common practice now on mene for me, I used to buy 5 letters on Gaia. I live 5...it's a good number) and I sold all but 1 fan that first month. I never put it back on sale for the same reason I took it off sale. No one wanted 1 fan...

I don't see what suddenly happened to make people so gold greedy! I mean It's not been too long since I joined (september) and people then were like oh you need gold? Here! I mean donations in the hundreds, sometimes thousands were given out. I gave someone 3k just before the fishing glitch because she sent me a PM saying she was 3k off of a v-day item or something. She gave it back after the glitch. But you know, I think that says a lot about what the mene players were like.

I don't understand what's changed...

Yeah, I just started questing for all of the event items and the CIs and of course, those items decide to inflate more than I can gather gold.

Anyone want to save a Puado for a poor Shrimpie? j/k

I actually have been known to do that...Either buy an item and hold it until someone can afford to pay me what I paid for it (works great when inflation is expected) or donate the gold for my friends...

Maybe I'm just too dated for mene...?

The inflation just came on so suddenly in my eyes that I was just left there stunned. I thought that the site was small enough that the price guide would still give off the current prices but all I've seen lately are items going for more than the price guide. TT_TT

*sigh* Yeah. I avoid doing more than chatting threads up in the exchange though so I haven't seen it too much. I still use the price guide...

The price guide does state that the price for some items are increasing due to the lack of sellers for those particular item..

I don't understand what happened, either. I was around during September, and those two items were circulating like no tomorrow. Everyone liked how they looked, so everyone had one. I don't see where they all could have gone..

People are just getting more greedy, I suppose.. Maybe it's temporary.. I hope it's temporary. I see rich people who already have 2 or 3 fans/pudaos buying more fans/pudaos. You just know that they're going to sell those once the price reaches as high as it can go..

Yeah, I'm going to have to stalk the exchange to find actual items that I want to buy for prices that I can actually afford. Either that or just find somewhere where I can post a lot in different threads. *shrugs*

That's why I buy via shops selling at a set price that is within reasonable range of what's listed in the Guide.

I'd like some of the CIs from before October, but I'm not going to break my personal piggybank to get them. I'll just be happy to collect or buy with real world money the ones that come out in the future.

The best thing to do is not to buy if it's at an 'inflated' price. Obviously, you can't stop people from buying things at inflated prices. People refuse to read even regular rules, they probably won't listen to a suggestion to boycott shops with inflated prices. But if enough people won't buy things that are artificially inflated, then prices will stay lower overall.

Or am I too Pollyanna on that?

People are hiding the items, a fairly large amount of them are in circulation.

If you want to cause deflation, say NO. Being desperate and making more unreasonable offers just makes sellers of those items more greedy and they want more money. People saying "No" will cause sellers to price them lower so buyers could buy at a reasonable price.

*sigh* I have a spare set of slippers and 4 spare sets of the recent items 7 sets of the halloween items and a few odd halloween items too*anticipates PMs* But I don't go out and buy extras one of each is good for me! I have so many because I love mene and donate money to it and I am online at work 60 hours a week and am super active. I still gained a fair wack of gold when it ended because I didn't trade all the candies in!

But honestly, what are you going to do with that many items? Me I'm just going to keep mine until I find something I want to buy then turn them into pure... But I don't really have that much lust for gold to convert all my gold into items. It seems a bit...well greedy :P

I think its mostly because the Padao and Fan are really pretty and they were the CI before the bigger influx of users hit. Granted, I am a little disappointed that getting a fan is going to be so difficult and costly.

I hope there isn't someone with some rediculous amount of them in their inventories ;_;

Too bad I was too impatient yesterday to get a Carnival Hairpin, because I bought one like 200g over the price guide price. *hides head in shame*

Personally I was shocked when I saw and auction for the fan and pudao and the offers were in the thousands. I asked myself "Oh, how many pudoas is that trade for... wait, just one?" o__o;

I didn't realize it I guess since it's not an item I've bought from the exchange since I donated for my sets. ^^;

I'm surprised at the inflation on seemingly just those items. I'm not a huge exchanger, while I do have 3 sets - I donated for mine. And I have no intention of selling them as I'm trying to entice a couple people to join with my extra sets of CI's.

I do feel sorry for anyone attempting to purchase overinflated items in the exchange. I joined too late for the V-day items and while I would like to be able to get both the V-day & St. Paddy's items (I'm compulsive about completeness - those are the only 'rare' items I'm missing!) I'm really not interested in paying the inflated pricing.

If I weren't so lazy I'd start a "Don't buy at those crazy prices, fools" campaign >> But alas..

I guess the moral of this story is to contribute to Menewsha as often as possible :] Hurray for pocket-filled developers :D
