my family hide the key in a lamp near the house, but we don't really need the key becose its almosut somebody home.

I don't have a spare key to my dorm room... I would like one, though. It would help very much. But I've got one for my laptop lock. I don't actually hide it so much as lose it somewhere in the giant clutter that is my desk. I honestly don't think anyone would be able to find it but me. ...well, if they wanted to clean for a veeeeeery long time, they might. But I've found that a mess is a very good hiding place. And sometimes the hardest place to find something is right under your nose.

I think I'd put a spare in my wallet, since I always take it with me, and perhaps another in my car.

Then in case I got locked out of the house, I'd have a spare available.

At the back of our house under one of the bay windows there's a little nook with a flap over it where we keep our spare key. The only problem is that's where all the spiders make they webs or hide in, so if I ever get locked out I have to use like a three foot long stick to get the key out because I'm so afraid of spiders.

I just recently had an innocent a couple days ago xDD.

For my car keys, I have two extra sets made and they go to the people that I trust the most and that I can also depend on if I pull something ditsy and they'll be willing to drive to come rescue my ass! My mother has suggested using one of those magnets to stick under a certain place in the car with the spare key attached to it, but I see that as too risky. If someone wants to steal my car, their butts are going to have to work for it!

The house thing I've thought over before, because those places are awfully common and if I personally ever got a wild hair up my ass and wanted to break in somewhere, I'd know the first place to look. I personally would suggest doing the same idea as I have for my vehicle with giving a spare to someone you can trust and willing to drive xD, but sometimes that option isn't always available to people.

If it was my house and I was hiding a key I would want to make it somewhere were people would least expect it. And if I ever had to use it, I'd find another spot just in case someone was watching. Most likely it will be in the back yard, I'd say have a couple potted plants, pull it out and kind of like inject it in the soil to where if someone did pull the plant out of the pot, it still wouldn't be seen. I hope that makes sense lol. In a bird house under a nest, crazy stuff like that.

I don't see many options for apartments though. The key under the mat thing is foolish in my opinion. >>;

Lucky me, I just use our garage door opener keypad thinger. And if the power's out...well, I can find other ways in *innocent grin*

I have a lock box hanging on my door with a spare key in it. I think it’s safer since I really have no where to hide a spare key that isn’t obvious.

I don't really keep a spare key, but on the occasion I do put a key out for a family member who forgot a key or on one of those days I feel like I'm forgetting something... I generally put it under this flower pot in my front yard or inside this tire beside my fence. Lol.
No, I'm not very creative with these places. I'm sure if someone were to look for said key, they'd find it pretty fast.I don't think there really is a good place to put a spare key, because in my opinion you shouldn't need one!! >:0 Haha, but yeah... any time I leave a key outside I tell my brother and my best friend for sure. Id give it to my friend or something and go over to their house and probably have another way for me to come over to meh friend's houses <3

XD We used to put it outside in a little case with a code thinger on it. But some robbers came and took it out with a crowbar. >_____> They didn't break in, though.. 'Cause I left the door unlocked. DX I still can't live that down! They stole all my mom's gold. >________< Guh. Iono where we'd put it now. All our spares are inside so it'd be kind useless if we locked ourselves out. XD I guess we'd just go to the manager and get a spare from her for the apartment. We don't have a car so it doesn't really matter for that.

One of my friends has her spare key hanging on a nail inside the breaker box. But then again, her breaker box is old fashioned and outside the house. xD

We used to have a spare key hidden in the garden shed. Maybe we still do. I can never find it though. I just recently spent two hours locked out of my house because I'd forgotten my key, and my mom was picking my brother up. I looked all over the shed, because my mom and dad are always talking about how the key is there, but I couldn't find it. It sucked :[[

• In a Chinese pipe or a cockerel's boot? Or if you lived near a swarm of wallabies, you could hide it in on of their pockets. But make sure you remember which one, perhaps but making wear a sandwich board that says "Spare key in here". But that defeats the purpose somewhat.
  
  Where was I? But seriously. We don't have a hiding place, or, at least, not one that I know about. But if I could choose one, I'd go for an extra brambly area, or in the place where all the house centipedes live when they're not in the house. No one wants to stick their hand in there, not even for a 20-year old TV.

But seriously, I'd get like a really old, worn out shoe that looks really gross and stuff, and put the key in there. I think that'd work fairly well. Of course I'd put the shoe somewhere out of the way, so no one could find it. :P

At my mom's we have the key to the back door hidden behind the doorframe. You know.. the house has those little panel things... yeah, anyway, it's there.

At my dad's we don't have a spare key, which really sucks if I forget my keys because I can't get in. I once had to crawl in through the window. T_T

When I lived in Miami with both my parents, I would hide my spare key in a hole I dug in the backyard. Unfortunately, I can't exactly do that anymore...

You know, listening to all these ideas has made me realize that I totally need to get a whole fistful of bad keys from the discard tray! So many places to hide them! So many strokes to give the **** burglar-wannabe. xD

Well, a good place for me to put a spare key is in the garden in front of the house! I would bury it a little, and just remember by which plant it was buried! And seriously, for a crook to dig and try to find a key, that wont exactly happen! So I am safe! Besides, in my house, we have an alarm, and it sounds really loud and the police calls and immidately they come to your house if you need help. I love being feeling of being safe =)
