Vegetarians...Well I'm not one myself, but I see their point. It can be healthy, and it is possible to be fat and a vegetarian. My mom has a friend who is one, and got fat from all the fruit she ate.... Or so she says..

Personally, I don't eat that much meat. It's mainly because some of it makes me sick, or because I don't like it. I don't like to eat eggs(if they are in something like cake, I'm fine with it), some chicken, and turkey..I really don't like turkey..

I was a vegetarian for about half a year when I was in highschool. My only reason was that I wanted to loose weight though, so I started back on meat once I got to the right size. If I were to become vegetarian again it would be for the same reason, health, but on a different level. I'm bothered by the chemicals and hormones they give the cattle and what not that we eat. I don't see how it could be considered healthy. The only reason my family still has meat on the menu is because we purchase a cow a year from family. We know they don't put fake stuff in their beef so I'm comfortable giving it to my kids. Chicken from the store is fairly safe, so we do eat it on occasion as well. It's illegal here to put anything 'extra' in poultry.

When asked, I say I prefer not to eat meat, and that I do support activist groups against meat farms that are inhumane in treating the animals, just no in other ways than putting off meat forever. I hate how, when I start talking about how poorly animals are treated in those conditions, that people always ask "Are you vegetarian then? Are you going to go vegan then??"

I believe, as of right now, the rudest thing I could do to my dad is not eat the dinner he cooks, because he's a great chef and that's an insult. Sadly, he cooks meat often. I usually eat mostly his vegetables though (he cooks them with a wok >.< yum!)

If I could somehow live off of my dad's vegetables, I may have a life as a vegetarian. I don't really like raw veggies except for tomatoes and baby carrots...

There's also the problem with me not liking beans... and I need a source of protein to replace what I get from meat.

I've always been an advocate of organic food - we have Publix's Greenwise aisle~ Organic rice noodle bowls and fruits! ^O^

I have quite a few friends who are vegetarians. I agree it's a healthy lifestyle as long as you remember to eat your proteins.

I've considered being a vegetarian so many times... but I'm not going to lie, I love meat (Lmfao). I knew quite a few vegetarians, but only a few of them stuck with it. My oldest brother is a vegetarian, actually. I look up to him for having such self control to stop eating meats and such. No matter how much I would want to become a vegetarian, I know it wouldn't last long. I generally have a strong will, too... but when it comes to things like this.. lol.

I'm not vegetarian, but I have family and friends who choose not to eat meat for various reasons. all of us respect each others' choices, none of us try to make anyone feel bad for what we do or don't eat. ^-^

I think the only problem that sometimes arises is that sometimes people who eat meat/don't eat meat try to push their choices into other peoples' lives and change other people to be like them, and well, I've always been the live and let live type. I wouldn't want to force people to eat exactly like I do, and I wouldn't want anyone to try to force me to eat how they do. I find it upsetting when people try to make a big show about eating meat in front of vegetarians who abstain from meat eating because of feelings towards animals, as I think that's cruel to be that way to someone, and I think that guilting people for eating meat is also wrong.

Basically, we all have our own lives, so I think if your lifestyle is good for you, then that's great. ^-^

A lot of people think I'm a Vegetarian, but I'm not.
I just don't like meat that much. It's not that I care about the feelings of the pig that was killed to make that porck chop, I hate the tast of most meats. About the only thing I can eat is hamberger, chiken and bacon. I do eat a small amout of cat fish ever now and then as well.

  • I am a vegetarian.
I no longer consider meat food. Asking me to eat it would be like asking me to eat my shoes... nope, not edible.

There is nothing natural or humane about eating meat today, unless for some reason you do it the old fashioned way and chase down buffalo on the plain to kill and eat. The meat you eat does NOT come from animals that die naturally. I could not have made up what goes on in the meat industry in my worst nightmares. (You can read a small sample of what goes on in a meatpacking plant here.) It is not a "well it's going to die anyways if you don't eat it" situation; these animals are raised to be killed. They are injected with hormones to make them meatier, and they are kept alive as cheaply as possible in crowded, dirty environments, and even being fed manure, dead animals/dead animal parts, and other waste because it is cheaper than grain.

Small ranchers and meatpackers get bought out by major corporations to drive down prices and eliminate competition. The big corporations are VERY loosely regulated, making it not only inhumane for animals but dangerous for human workers who prepare your meat as well. Many, many of these workers are injured on the job.

I am not a militant vegetarian, despite how this post might come off; it just completely ticks me off to see people saying that eating meat is natural because we are omnivores, that the animals would die anyways, that it's healthy, and just other ignorant arguments. I don't mind someone eating a steak in front of me as long as they don't make a big show about it, but if they try to convince me I NEED that steak... God help them, because I do not back down. :x

I dont like alot of meats, especially red. But I'm not a vegetarian, besides the odd bbq, ham in a sandwich and spaghetti I like chicken (breast) too much. I'm not really in it for the 'animal rights side' I mean seriously if you dont milk a cow it can die...so vegans have it a bit ironic there xD (no offence to anyone)
I just genuinely hate the taste of red meat, spaghetti is fine because it has to many other flavours in the sauce it's barely meaty...I also dont eat any seafood I'm probably fairly lacking in omega whatevers :S and maybe iron, but I try to eat spinach and stuff a bit.
I'd much rather a lovely roast potato/pumpkin/feta/spinach/tomato/eggplant dish sometimes with rice or pasta, maybe chicken if we have some.
I seem to have vegie soup alot too, probably because I'm so tired and hungry when I get home from work it's the easiest thing.
I have nothing against vegetarians/carnivores, unless they shove meat at me ><

I'm more of a meat eater than of a vegetable eater. I guess I just got used to eating meat most of the time.

I have a friend who used to be a Vegetarian.

She admits she did it just to impress her sister.
Haha, we used to call her a Vagetarian as a joke.
x3 No offense anyone, it was just a joke we had between friends.

I'm personally not vegetarian.
I think people become vegetarian for all different reasons. I have a friend who is a vegetarian quite simply because he found out where meat came from when he was four and stopped eating meat. He's never eaten meat since. Haha. xD I have another friend who is a vegetarian simply because she doesn't like the taste of meat. x_X As I said, the one above became a vegetarian for a year just to impress her sister. xD People do it for all different reasons. ^_^

I'm not a vegetarian, though I can understand why people would be. In fact, if I wasn't as much of a meat-lover as I am, I would go vegetarian, because too many animals are killed and wasted.

My uncle (who I hate because he's a jerk, but- different story, different time) is a vegetarian (or was, last time I saw him all of 5 years ago). He was living with my grandparents when they were both still alive for a while, and my mom and I were over for dinner or something, and he gave us tofu burgers. I hated them. I swear, they made me sick to my stomach.

I believe that if we kill an animal to eat it, what we don't eat we should use some other way, like Native Americans do (what with the whole respecting the animal spirits or whatever- don't know the specifics of why, but they've got the right idea). It's wrong to kill something and then *waste* most of it, and this also applies to people who go hunting, especially hunting for "sport". I have believed this for years, since I waas about twelve or so, and this will probably always be my stance on the issue of killing animals for food.

That said, I still wouldn't become a vegetarian, even though the way things are handled with animals is wrong in my opinion. I don't have the self-control to stop eating meat, and I can't really bring myself to want to have the self-control for such a thing. I love my burgers, steak, ribs, bacon, and every other type of meat too much.

nope i have never been, and most likely will not become a vegetarian. i just love the red meat too much xD sure i could go without for a few days, but i don't think i would be able to go without for too long >.>

it doesn't mean that i condone what is being done to animals in order to eat them. just that, i love meat, always have, i've see the peta videos, sure, it's very upsetting the way the animals are treated, but it doesn't make me loathe meat any less.

My Aunt Brenda, the woman I was named after, is the only vegetarian I know.

I, personally, couldn't live with out meat. D; I love it, want it, gotta have it.

But some people don't eat meat because they think it's cruel to animals, some don't because they're on an all veggie diet, some don't eat meat because their body rejects it. There are tons of different reasons.

i am very pro-vegetarian, but i'm not one.

i was for a while, then my dad told me that i wasn't allowed to be and that i had to eat whatever meals we were having.

but the real reason i started eating meat was because i lost weight when i stopped eating meat. and i'm really skinny and desperately trying to eat a ton and work out and put on some muscle.

i didn't find giving up meat hard at all, and i never wanted to eat it when i stopped. but i know what meat has protein and helps you gain muscle.

right now, feeling ok with the way i look is much more important to me than not eating dead animals. because really the small amount of food i wouldn't eat really wouldn't affect the amount of animals killed at all.

but when i'm older, i'm definately going to try to go vegetarian again. i think there are ways to get enough protein without eating meat, but right now i just don't have the recorces to do it. so i eat meat.

I was a vegetarian for three years. I did it...halfway for squeamishness, and halfway just to see if I could.

A month or so ago, my health was declining due to lack of vegetarian options where I live...so I started eating organic, free-range meat again. I've never felt better.

You see...I don't like the thought of eating dead things. But the fact of the matter is...it's natural. There are nutrients in meat, especially fish, that people NEED, and can't get anywhere else except for in supplements. I'm terrible at remembering to take supplements. Also, while not giving any money to the meat industry helps to cut the environmental impact of factory-style farms...buying from their COMPETITION can be even more helpful, because it encourages a more humane, healthy, AND environmentally friendly way of farming. I hope that one day, factory-style farms will be illegal. It's not unlikely, considering that they're a bigger contributor to global warming than cars are. Also, I have a hunch that the hormones they inject the animals with are contributors to the fact that children in this part of the world often hit puberty at age 8. I'm also pretty sure the way much farming is done has something to do with the frequency of cancer in this part of the world. One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the US; one in three women will be diagnosed with breast, uterine, cervical, or ovarian cancer...lung cancer has claimed a life and a half in my house alone...when you look at the rest of the world, this is VERY abnormal. Interestingly enough, though, as other countries eat foods that are more like what we eat here...cancer rates begin to rise. And then there's everything that Caroline mentioned. There you have it, THREE very good reasons that factory farming should be outlawed.

However, for the sake of my health (my body does not quite work the way it should), AND for the sake of having a bigger impact against these places I hate so much...I will eat organic, free-range meat, as well as fish. Some people can live without it, and although I do have the WILLPOWER to do it...I am not one of them.

I don't think I could become a vegetarian, I like the taste of meat too much. One of my best friends is a vegetarian though. I lived with her for over a year and it was bit interesting. We would share foods a lot so we had to work around each other. Sometimes that mean dividing up the veggies and sauce in a stir fry so I could have my own portion to put meat into.

It was a bit funny one time though. Jasmine (my friend) decided to make a Mediterranean dinner for her boyfriend Chris. Well Chris is not a vegetarian and absolutely eats some sort of meat for every meal. Knowing this I offered to help her cook so she wouldn't have to deal with the meat stuff. Well I can't stand to touch raw meat, it grosses me out. So here we were in the kitchen making this dinner, the vegetarian cutting up carrots and me, the carnivore, with plastic baggies over my hand trying to cut up pieces of raw chicken. It was a very odd and amusing situation.

Most of the vegans I've met aren't vegans because they think it's wrong to milk a cow. They are vegans because they think it's wrong/unhealthy to pump a cow full of hormones, put it in terrible conditions, and then overmilk it. You were probably just joking, but I wasn't sure.
