Sorry, but I'm looking for a mostly pure offer, with the exception of items that I want... And unfortunately, vday 08's aren't something I want.

I thought the first hour was disappointing and kind of cheesy. But the second half made up for it. XP I'm glad most of the stories were resolved, though I thought a few things were strange. Like why Lee and Bill didn't live together in the end, but Bill stayed on his own instead. And why they decided not to take technology with them. I wouldn't have sent the fleet into the sun, that's for sure! What if you needed those ships again one day? Earth certainly wasn't technologically advanced enough to be able to recreate that stuff.
I did like that they actually got to the real Earth though. That was awesome.
I did a lot of crying through the last hour. XP

Same here. I wasn't satisfied with how they resolved what happened to Starbuck - it was a little too mystical.

I thought it was appropriate actually. She's always been a mystical kind of character -- at least once all that stuff started going down with her. She was a messenger from god, an angel. And once her mission was over, and she led them to Earth, there was nothing more for her to do. She died on the ancient 'Earth' and was resurrected to fulfill a divine purpose -- I think it was apropos for her to just disappear that way. It was sad though. I loved Kara. She was fiesty and awesome. It's so funny that Katee Sackoff's a girly girl. You'd never know it watching her play Starbuck. XD

Now, the thing with Bill and Lee made some sense to me - it seemed like they were working toward some form of closure. Still, a bit extreme that they went their separate ways. It also made some sense to me that the cylons and humans agreed to get rid of all tech because they were trying to make a complete break from that cylon/human war cycle - also interesting that the cylons set the centurians free. I guess I would have just liked to know if there was some sort of logical explanation about Kara - beyond something that one would typically apply faith to. I was also glad that Baltar and Caprica got back together, and that he finally became a decent person. Pretty excited about the new show!

Heh. Well, so much of the show revolved around mystical things -- I think Kara's demise was appropriate considering how much of the show was about god/gods and fate.
I was also happy about Baltar and Caprica. It was awesome that they got to fulfill their destiny in the end. :D
The new show should be interesting, but are there any recurring characters? Or is it an all-new cast? I haven't really looked into it yet. XP

I'm pretty sure it's mostly new cast members, because Eric Stoltz is one of the leads. There may be some of the others, but it didn't look like it from the trailer.
I just thought it was funny that the least mystical or even philosophical main characters - Starbuck - from the 80s version was not only female in the recent version, but an angel?? I was sort of expecting the god/s to show up in a huge ship like they did in the older series. Minus the spandex.

 I never saw the old series, except for the first episode, which I watched on Hulu not long ago. I don't think I could watch the rest of it though... Old school sci-fi just doesn't do it for me for whatever reason. XP

The show was beyond cheesy - even then. I was really young and we didn't have things like CGI - so the special effects were what they were. I don't remember which season it was, but some of the pilots were picked up by another ship - it was pretty epic in proportion - and they were either the gods or considered to be a race like the gods. It was so long ago, I don't remember. Anyhow, I thought that it would be interesting to see if the new series did something like introduce another race or tribe to explain what happened to Kara. Plus, there wasn't a good explanation about why the cylons took her ovary other than for experimental purposes. I think that the writers were trying hard not to conclude the show with too much of the obvious, and mystical was probably the furthest from the obvious!
It looks like the new series is going to include some type of resurrection tech or cloning? Not sure, but it looks like Stoltz' character has a daughter that dies and that she comes back somehow with her friend.

 The one episode I saw was pretty cheesy. But I didn't have higher expectations. It is pretty old school. XP
Yeah, I don't know what was up with the cylons and Kara's ovary. That was a strange plot twist that never was resolved. I think that they had original plans for Kara, and then changed them halfway through the show. Because her character only started becoming important about halfway in. Of course she was important as a pilot and all that, but she didn't seem to have a destiny like she had in the last season.
I guess we'll see how the new series turns out. I'm sure I'll watch it. XP
