I still have a DARE shirt too XD. I can't really see much wrong with the shirt except that some people don't agree with that message. I don't think that there any pieces of clothing that people don't like, cept for mom who thinks that I shouldn't be wearing "such thin shirts" even though where I live it's not that cold.

I have a shirt that says Don't Take the Olive Branch, with an olive branch sprouting out of a gun.
Someone was very upset by this, and thought it meant I didn't support our troups, or freedom, or peace and ranted for a bit. Not a lot of people have connected ze olive branch with the saying, but people that do are usually shocked - and I honestly have no idea why. It's a cool shirt saying to be wary of things. Geez.

It probably has to do with how worn it is and possibly how it's not "fashionable" from the sounds of it. For some reason, people hate it when shirts have holes in it. When I have a shirt with a hole, all my friends seem to notice and mention it. XD
I don't think I've had a shirt that people are offended by though, or at least no one has told me directly or anything. *shrug*

Awwww PayShi that's so adorable! I gave my DARE shirt away to Goodwill and stuff since I grew out of it. I see them in thrift stores all the time anyways lol. Someone once told me that they see a "newer" version of it but that's solely for fashion purposes. She actually thought that the DARE program revamped but it had nothing to do with them! Someone was trying to make a buck out of sarcasm lol.

Maybe people don't like it because they do drugs or alcohol. That's the only reason I can see.

I have lots of t-shirts people don't like but typically it's because they're hot topic tees with funny but, in some opinions, offensive saying. I also wear gay and bi pride shirts that get me nasty looks, but I've long since stopped caring if people are offended by what I'm wearing. So long as I'm not indecent (aka naked or otherwise showing off naughty bits) then I don't care if they want to give nasty looks or complain. Freedom of expression afterall ^_^

To be honest, i really do wish I had a D.A.R.E. shirt still. Mine got so well worn that the fabric was literally just falling to pieces. T'was a sad day when my mom finally took it out of commission (I got it in like 6 or 7th grade, and it died when i was in mid-high school!)

I think some people may not like your shirt
because it is just old and worn out. Alot of
people are like that now-a-days it seems like.
But from what I herd I think there is nothing
wrong with your shirt. I've had people get on
to me because they didnt like the color of my
shirt, whats up with that?

as for the kids at your school. they probably don't like it because it is preaching a good message. some people, regardless of whether or not they actually partake in those activities, do not like being told not to. some folks are weird like that. I don't know about your mom...one would think she'd like it because of the message. I wouldn't worry about what other's think of your shirt though. whatever makes you feel good and comfortable.

It's because no one can remember what DARE is an acronym for. It should just be 'Drugs Are Really Evil' or something. It's catchier. <_<

I have a shirt that says
"Hugs
<3 Not <3
Drugs"
I personally love that shirt. ^__^ <3 It not only gives a good message it is also cute and I get hugs anyways. xD
I hate my DARE t-shirt though. The size was like waay to big for me and it was kinda ugly anyways. xD

The only reason I could think of would be if it just looked funny because it was older. Or maybe it smells funny. *Shrug* They could just support that kind of thing, however odd it sounds to me. >.o
Personally, I don't have one of the DARE shirts. ;-; Everyone else here seems to have one SOMEwhere; I don't. I feel so excluded. :P

That is just plain silly!
Comfy, torn clothes are the best!
You should ignore those ignorant people that have too much to say about what people wear.
I like a lot of my clothes worn, washed out, and torn.
And I wouldn't have them any other way!

i think lots of people don't like certain things i wear. i have that pink plaid handbag that looks like a giant oldfashioned purse and everyone hates it, but i like it. i even have a matching tie ö.Ö
but seriously, i couldn't care less. i'm a unique person and therefore it's okay if other would dress in a different way :O

When i was in junior high school (1993+1994), it was utterly socially forbidden to wear a DARE shirt. The shirt at the time said "Dare to keep kids off of drugs". I think just because it was so darn corny to everyone, it was kind of annoying to see people wear it. It was socially acceptible, even cool (if you were already cool) to wear a dare shirt inside out with bonus points for inside out and backward. You could only do the backward thing if you were SUPER cool, quite amusing, quite.
If your mom was in school or highschool around 1990-1995, then that'd be why she hates those shirts.
I think it'd be cool now-a-days to mod the shirt.
Google shirt modding or "t-shirt surgery" and you can find a lot of cool things to do with t-shirts that are so square like those.
Anyway, that's just my theory.
Toodles.

Actually, part of the reason the D.A.R.E. program isn't so prevalent anymore is because it became a big joke. Drug users like to wear the shirts as a joke.
I know one girl who won the D.A.R.E. contest just for laughs because she did drugs and when she went to give her speech she was stoned. I know that's pretty mean spirited but it happens.
So I'm assuming that might be part of the problem people have with it. They may think you're just mocking the program.

I think its a good message and I have no idea why they dont like it,.but blahhh who cares i'm sure they have many clothe items you dislike too so who cares,, if you like it you wear it ok? dont pay attention to people, they will ALWAYS for sure find something they dont like about you or your clothes, be yourself follow this simple rule: if you like it then wear it. =)

Well I don't really know why your mom doesn't like the shirt but my guess is that classmates might not like it because they do not like the message it sends. Personally I would just ignore it and where whatever I wanted.

In DARE, I learned how to avoid getting caught be cops, where to get drugs, what the symptoms were and how people hide them, what the cost is, lol. I don't think it was helping anyone. I never got into drugs but a lot of kids learned tooo much. Ya know?

- I think all those anti-drug slogans and PSAs are hokey (and not in the good way) at best (and condescending at worst), so that's why I don't like them. Plus, I don't do drugs, so I already know all that. And yet, my dog keeps hassling me about, I don't know what his problem is. Lay off, Mr. McWooferson. >.>
However, if people are bugging you because you're wearing an old shirt, well then. Eat their faces. I wear my shirts until they disintegrate, man. 8)
