We're not finding that actually - the prices are comparable right now - but there are a lot of really ritzy banquet halls in the city we're not even looking at because we know they are out of our range- but the country clubs and stuff are just as expensive as the ritzy places.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

Generally it would be more expensive to do anything in the city - but apparently weddings are just crappy expensive everywhere

If I was doing something outdoors I would totally agree - but I don't want to be dependent on the weather so I'm not as worried about green outside since we'll be indoors all night

Yeah - the way i figure it weather is one thing I have no control over- so I don't want to put my 'big day' into the hands of chance - I would much rather know for sure that me and my guests going to be dry

Having the ceremony indoors would be nice and then I want a bbq as the reception. Not much into anything big or special. Kind of weird and none girly like that. :P

I always said I would do a BBQ for my reception - but with Chris being a vegetarian it's difficult - and there's no way I want to BBQ for that many people

It's funny the places we're checking out are showing me linens and tablecloths and stuff like that- and I'm like . . . i didn't pick colors or anything, I'm not overly worried about what they look like, as long as people have napkins

I'm more worried about the food (I love food) and making sure there is an open bar.

Oh yes... an open bar is the best. Fflur had an open bar at her wedding. Had to teach the guy how to make a jolly rancher shot though. He screwed up the first time. :headdesk:

Depending on the place instead of a full open bar it may end up being just beer, wine and champagne - but I think as long as it's unlimited 'free' drinks people don't mind so much >.<

bbq corn is yummy >.> lol.

I think an indoor place with a terrace like area thing would be ideal for a wedding. that way if the weather permits and it is warm enough and pretty enough you can go outside for a bit and enjoy the fresh air, and if it is miserable and cold outside you can pretend it doesn't exist and just stay inside! XD

Oh man - now I really can't wait until corn season - I love throwing corn on the BBQ

We didn't have many BBQs last summer - I think we need to make up for that this summer because I love cooking on the grill and just hanging out outside with friends - nothing like good friends, good food, and good beer

That's right, Sia. Didn't do much of anything last summer and I want to rectify that. Camping sounds like such fun and it's been forever since we've gone.

I didn't get to do much last summer because I was finishing up my masters - can't go on vacation when you have class.

Not really planning any trips for this summer - need to save as much as possible- but we'll probably do one or two long weekends to Rochester and maybe I'll try to get to Florida to visit my Grandparents again (if I can get any kind of vacation time saved up - I keep using it all >.<)

Outside of seeing Fflur, not taking any time off either for vacations. The 4th of july we are going up to Tahoe...cannot wait for that! Get to see my friend Jamie, hang out in Tahoe, gamble a little and drink! Whee!

Haha - I haven't even started looking at gowns - I'm going to wait about a year because i lose and gain weight so often I have no idea what size I'll be by then.

I did find a dress I like for the bridesmaids - if it's still being made closer to the date I may have them get these -

I think with the higher waste line and the ribbon it should be flattering for all 3 girls - I have 3 very different body types so I may just end up picking a color and letting them each choose their own dress. If I do this dress I'll also want to get a matching wrap for them since it is going to be in October

The designer is Bari Jay - I found it on their website ( here)- they don't sell direct so if we do end up getting that dress I'll have to find a retailer near me that sells them (keeping my fingers crossed on that one).
