My dad is opening this package of sushi and it came with a little tube of Wasabi.
"Have you ever tried Wasabi before?"
"No, I don't beleive i have..."
"here, put a little dab on your finger."
So I do, and I just kinda tap it against my tongue.
I dont taste anything.
I tap it there again,
still nothing.
So then I just smear it on my tongue and swallow.
OH
MY
GOD
DX IT BURNS.
Like...I live in the southwest, I've had all kinda of spicy, but DAYUM.
WASABI SPICY HOT AND BURNS.
Dx
I was looking all over for juice or milk, and I just grabbed a jug bottle of water and started downing it.
It was only a tiny bit, and so maybe I'm just a sissy,
but it was still one of the most unpleasant tastes I've ever had in my mouth >_<

- Wasabi tastes great in my opinion. It's just a different type of spice than you'd be used to. Only good in really small quantites though. You tend to only want to have a light layer between the rice and fish if you want to have any.
Be happy you aren't like one of my aunts. She thought that a bowl of wasabi was green tea ice cream. One big scoop later.....yeah. xD

Personally, I love wasabi with my sushi. My friend took me to a Japanese restaurant, and tried miso soup for the first time a month ago. I absolutely love miso soup now. I'm addicted!
I also tried a different kind of sushi. Normally, I'm a sushi sakura type of person, but Zack (the friend) made me try a different kind... like... it was flavored with something else. I forgot what the called it. D=

I only tried.. an amount that was smaller than a teaspoon. It still burned! The face that I've never eaten spicy foods doesn't help.
I'm a wuss. ;_;

I absolutely Loooove Wasabi. The first time I tried it I was like...hmm it's interesting, and kind of like you I didn't taste too much so I took a bunch of it and I still didn't taste too much then it was like WOOSH it caught up with me and I was like CRAP! What was awesome, beacuse when you have something really spicy or something like that your nose gets all tingley and strange...it's an interesting feeling.

I've only had wasabi peas, and after watching my friends freak out about how gross and hot they are... I loved them. LOL.
I am not a big fan of sushi however, but I should try it sometime.

- As long as you only have a VERY SMALL AMOUNT on some sushi, it'll be fine then. Go for it. Just having that thin layer between the fish and the rice gives it a small bite. Taking a pea-sized dab is too much though, so when I say a small amount, I seriously mean it.
You're more likely to regret it if you take a spoonful. xD

I'm glad I first tasted it in a kitchen store with a marked label.
And warning to only eat in small servings.
I'm not fond of the taste,but I'm all for spice and hotness.
But I'm quite sure large portions of it, could be "lethal" to the taste buds.
The worst taste I've ever had in my mouth, was at a once friend's house.
They're big on the international cuisine.
So they, mix and match.
They served me what they called Rice,boiled in chicken broth with seasonings.
I was gagging at the table.
Seriously.
I almost vomited right then and there when I swallowed a huge spoonful.
One of the brothers thought it would be funny to taunt me for not finishing his family's "prized" foods.
Otherwise,the grilled chicken and steamed vegetables weren't amazing either.
I didn't eat there again.
It sickens me today.
O;

Of course wasabi is that spicy xD You have to know what you're putting in your mouth before you down it. I don't like wasabi ;-; It's just too much to bear.

I wiped some on my tongue too the first time I tried it. I had asked my boyfriend what it was and he said it was sort of like horseradish sauce so before he could stop me I dabbed some on my finger and just popped it in ^^; He just looked at me in shock and then the flavor kicked in and just said "I can't believe you just did that." After a slug of water I complained it was nothing like the horseradish I was used to >_>
I do use it now, just in a lot smaller quantities and with it on sushi rather than straight ^^;

I had wasabi once. I hate it.
It's not so much that it's spicy, I just hate the taste.
It burned my tongue for a second and after that... nothing. But it was also sushi from King Soopers (oddly enough, their sushi is fairly good. O_O)

Wasabi is just a Japanese horse radish. :o
I love wasabi to a point.
It's great in the soy sauce and its a surprise sometimes in the sushi.
I always put a certain amount in my dish. <3
But if it's all in one place on the fishey and I magically decided to bite it in half instead of eating it whole.
Oh the wonders of drinking whatever I have in front of me until I can't feel my mouth due to coldness.
I don't think I've ever been tricked to eat it.
My friend, LOVES wasabi.
When we took her to the best sushi bar in town, she apparently eats the wasabi whole...
After she finished her sushi and even in-between she started to pick at the wasabi.
She's very weird. o.o

Maybe because I haven't had it in large quanities, but I don't think wasabi is all that bad. I love it with ginger. :3 I'm not a big sushi fan, but I'll eat it. I'm the girl who gets the non-authentic California rolls XD Ha.
I'm not a fan of American horse radish though. That's the thing. Is that odd? ^^;
But I love horseradish cheese. Has anyone tried that? It's absolutely delicious. At first, I wasn't going to give it a chance because it was horse radish. If I hadn't of tried it, I wouldn't have known how good it actually is.
So, to those who might not want to try wasabi because they are a "wuss", I say try it anyway. You might find out that you like it. Discover the unknown self. (:

I tricked one of my brothers into eating a big glob of wasabi once. It came with the california rolls from the grocery store. It was so funny...
I tasted it once....just an itty bitty tiny bit, and I spit it out because that was still too much for me. I reeeally don't like spicy food. ^^;
