Hello there again Menewsha.
So today I was riding in my mom's car, on the way home, I was tired so instead of listening to the radio I began thinking to myself, and observing my mom's driving, as well as the driving of the other people on the road. And just to let you all know, my mother is not a very accomplished driver; she has been driving for about 18 years and does not use the freeway, let alone reach the speed limit on roads.
And although I'm constantly complaining back and forth about how mediocre her driving is, I don't think that I'd make a very good driver. ;___; I don't have a lot of common sense, and it's incredibly difficult for me to communicate to people without talking to them. Something like eye contact just doesn't cut it for me. I actually see myself in an unprotected left turn situation, forever waiting for a pause in cars so I can actually turn left, but I'd prolly crash cause I can't guess when the car will come, and whether or not I can actually make the turn. <__<;;
So do any of you guys feel the same way? Do you drive regardless of whether or not you lack a bit of common sense?
And be sure to share any stories of your driving mishaps. xD

I’m fine with the way I drive. I do tend to wait a bit too long at left turns though because I am afraid of someone hitting me, but it’s not all the time.

My mother really doesn't drive me around very much anymore - mostly because I have a license and a vehicle - but I reeeally don't like driving my mother anywhere. She's a terrible passenger-side-driver, and she makes me paranoid. No problem with other people in that seat; it's really just her...
And I was actually in a couple of those situations.
There's a major four-way intersection about a minute from my house. I was making a left to go home, and I was straightening out, when someone hit me. He tore the paneling off my rear passenger door, cracked the front passenger door, and the rear-quarter panel. Fault went to me. Not very good, considering it had been only three weeks into my license.
And another one, more recently, was a couple months ago. This time, someone else was making a left turn, and she had to go out into moving traffic. I stopped...unfortunately, not soon enough to avoid an accident. Her vehicle was pretty good - just a little crack in the bumper, and a fog light went missing. Mine? Well, the verdict on whether or not my car is totaled is still being decided. >_<
I can't tell if I'm a horrible driver, or if I just have horrible luck when it comes to driving.-_-;

I'm a new driver and I get really antsy when I'm taking busy turns and stuff. I always try to make sure I have enough free space to get going in, but I always worry someone behind me is going to be going to fast or something.
I guess that makes me a paranoid driver? I really hate driving near an 18-wheeler, too.
Thankfully, though, my mom is the worst driver in the world. I didn't wanna take that title, after all. Anyway, she cuts off people, goes too fast and she has the coordination of a drunk slug. She hits curbs a lot and just the other day in the grocery store parking lot, she drove right into a light post that was in plain sight. D:

@ Goddess: My gosh, that's a whole lot of bad accidents, that's the kind of stuff that just freaks me out. Since I would most likely be in your position. x.x
@ Lore: Your mom is like, how my mom would prolly be like if she actually drove above the speed limit. xDD

@Circa Survive: That's not even all of them.
I think, if I get into another at-fault accident anytime soon, I might just cut up my license. I don't like the stress, and I don't like the paperwork.
I think I'm just a bad driver. x_x;

Ah man, it's gotta be tough adjusting without driving.
Best of luck to you and your future of driving. .__.;;

Yes, that would be close to how I feel right about now. >___<
It sucks about that road though. I never thought that it was very wise to repaint lanes, or add random stop signs, people should just plan ahead, and stick with road plans. But I guess nothing can be done now eh? :S

I'm a good driver, sometimes I just need to pay attention
a bit more, lol. xD Like I'll do something and realize
a second later that I wasn't supposed to do that. I'd say
just go for it and don't be afraid. :/ There's people
out there who will be worse at driving than you.
One time I was driving through a parking lot and there
weren't any spots where I usually park. So I went down this
one area and I almost hit this other car. xD I hadn't realized
that there was another entrance leading from the road. :/
There weren't any stop signs or anything, so I just
kinda went straight and she had to slam on the brakes.
I felt super dumb afterwards.

I used to always think driving would be really hard. But then I got my permit and found out it's actually not so bad. Once you get familiar with your car and how quick or slow it is, you can pretty much tell if you're going to be able to make it into the lane before that other car catches up to you. My problem is the headlights at night. It hurts my eyes and I want to close them, but I know if I close them I'm going to slam into something. Even when the oncoming cars are gone, I still see spots because of the lights. It sucks and is very distracting, but it's not like it's possible to get rid of headlights, you know? xD
I've never been in an actual crash, but I do have a stupid seatbelt story. I was riding with my boyfriend through some town. The person in front of us suddenly slams on brakes, so my boyfriend has to too. My seatbelt doesn't lock and I go flying forward. Luckily, I didn't hit anything and my boyfriend didn't hit the car in front of us. I noticed that when this happened, my water bottle had fallen in the floor so I went to bend down to pick it up and the seatbelt locked. =/ So I have no faith in seatbelts now.

i know i'm going to be a bad driver. x3 i would never be able to judge properly when to turn unless there is a huuuuge gap. xD; Poor, poor people who get angry easily on the road; they have to deal with me in a couple of years!
Plus, i only remember routes to place if i have a mental image, so people are going to ask someone else to drive them or get a map. xD

I have common sense on the road...I drove today with my mum! I got my permit on Saturday (this past saturday) and I am driving fine. It's probably like my fifth time driving on the streets and today I drove within busy traffic and my mom said I did very well.

I've got my license and everything but I don't go on the road much with my dad's car; I normally walk or take a bus. xD I'm quite a scaredy-cat and well, driving is not one of my talents. =P
My dad drives really good though; I feel really safe and comfortable when he drives. =D
And y'know in those driving games at the arcade? I crash so often in those. xD

My mom's always telling me she's not letting me get my license until I'm at least 20(I'm 16 now), because I'd be an awful driver. Of course, my mom text messages while she drives, falls asleep at the wheel, gets about one ticket a month, and drives with her knee. So I'm always like "umm look who's talking!" yet, in all honesty, I think I might be worse. x.x
I wouldn't text or drive with my knee or anything, but one time I tried driving with my dad a long time ago, and it was nott pretty.

My brother and I criticize my mom's driving all the time, but she sure knows how to get someone somewhere on time... as long as she isn't waiting for a car going twenty-five mile per hour to pass before she turns to leave the road.No matter how many people tall her she can make it, she never tries, and she's been driving for over 25 years.
