If you notice as you answer all of my topic, it relates to school somewhat usually. >->; It helps me okay? D: Lol, that's not the point of this topic though. Moving on.
So I'm sure a majority of you are going to/has been/is in university and college, oui? So my question here is that are you likely to drop a course that you are going to take?
My friend's friends practically all took courses to become a pharmacist. But then after they finished the year, they dropped it and went for something else because it was so much work and stress for them. Well, a waste of money there but what can you do?
And for those who are in university and college, did you dropped anything because you didn't like what you were planning to go into anymore or it was too hard?
Etc, etc. :3

it all depends.
sometimes never; sometimes a lot.
If it's for school, I almost never drop a course unless it was a mistake to take it in the first place.
Outside of school, if it's like Martial Arts, etc, if I'm not enjoying myself, I'll get the hell out of there. I am spending my own time right?

I'm a business management major... I was going to minor in Spanish, but after taking one semester of the class here, I'm not planning on taking another. The way the class was designed and executed just didn't work for me, and I wound up pulling a C in it. I'd rather just learn Spanish outside of the classroom, instead of having it kill my GPA every semester.
Other than that; I don't think there are really any classes I'll be dropping. I have six classes next semester, but they're all towards my major, so I'm mostly stuck, there. XD

Well I'm currently in High school but If I'm uncomfortable in a class or it stresses me out I'll switch out of the class. Unless its something that I have a passion for like art but normally if I'm in a class I can't handle it brings down all my grades and thats not very good for me. I've already switched out of a class this year and I'm likely to switch out of another one.

The only class I ever dropped was high school chemistry. I transferred from a school in WI, where our freshman physical science class integrates chemistry into it, to a school in Indiana, where the classes are basically separate. Chemistry was boring, I needed a study hall for my English Honors class and my Calculus class.
I'm a dual-credit student. Last year I earned 3 credits in Medical Terminology at the college level and 2 Anatomy-Physiology credits at the college level. Currently, I'm earning my English credits for my senior year of high school AND my freshman year of college. I'm also starting classes soon at a technical college for phlebotomy. I'll have my certification three weeks after I graduate to draw blood and do basic lab work in a hospital. =D
So... I'm pretty psyched about all that.
Yes... I'm a senior in high school, in case all y'all wanted to know. ;D

Well... I was going to take A levels in college...but flunked history due to a friends death (they didn't take that into consideration when marking) so I took a diploma in acting. I finished the first year but couldn't continue it and maths. And I needed maths to be a teacher, so I dropped acting and took A levels, I dropped 1 of my a levels, although I don't remember which. Then I gave up on college alltogether.

Well, I haven't dropped a class yet, but I wish I had dropped a class my Freshman year, because I had found out that if I had dropped it, it wouldn't have counted against me, and being a freshman I didn't know, and failed the class, because the teacher was geared more towards pharmaceutical than nursing.
Plenty of my friends though drop and add classes like they have money to burn, which they don't >.o I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you know you're gonna do bad, or that you're in the wrong class. I don't prefer dropping classes though, simply because it's such a hassle trying to get caught up in another class if you decide to add.

Haven't dropped a class yet. I had been considering dropping my major at the beginning of the school year, however, that would have been a dead end for me. See, I'm an architecture major, so I'm at a tech school, which is great for architecture but has NONE of my back up majors--art or english. So if I dropped architecture, it basically meant transferring schools. And it was hard enough to get here and settle in. I don't really want to have to go through it again. So I stuck around to see how it was a bit more. And I'm doing okay now. It isn't so bad now that I'm used to it.
But it bugs me slightly. I keep on wondering if this is really what I want to do. I mean I can always go back to school if I have to or I can be an artist or writer with my free time, but is this really what I want to be doing with my time?
I don't know. I'm not severely unhappy with it. I like some of it. It grew on me. We'll see.

I try not to drop anything. D: I dropped a web design class this semester because I really did not like how it was going to be taught. Just not what I was interested in and such. Usually I move my schedule around a lot before the semester starts though. xD
I was thinking of switching majors for a while, which would have been bad unless I switched to another art major. The first year was for the art foundation program, so that would have all been a waste if I had switched. D:

If a class is too hard or if I've missed too many classes then I'll drop the class.

I think something like 60% of people change their major at least once throughout their university career.
It's very common for people to start their studies and discover it's really not the field they want to be in.
Which is why you shouldn't declare your major until your second year, after you've taken a few intro courses in a bunch of different things--and that will also fill up your gen-ed requirements.
That way you get a better idea of what you really want to do.
I never changed my major, personally, but I did change my concentration several times. I was originally going to get my degree in psychology with a concentration in research, then I switch to a concentration in counseling.
Right now I'm saving up for grad school.
^^ Don't worry, switching subjects of study is normal.

I was in school for animation but I didn't really like the direction it was going so I switched to Interactive Media Design. I didn't loose any money because the classes I had taken were all general classes that everyone starting art school has to take.
I'm in this for the long run now because my school cost 75 thousand dollars. I really can't afford to change my mind now.

I have yet to drop a course. However, I should have, on several different occasions. Halfway through Geography, I realized that I was failing, and by that time, I KNEW I was bad at the subject. Or that the teacher I had didn't teach it well, one or the two. However, for some reason I believed that I could pull my grade up. In the end, I ended up failing, as my grade predicted I would. I could have saved myself so many headaches if I had simply dropped the class. I also should have dropped basic algebra the first time around, and geometry. I failed basic algebra miserably, only because there was a class before it, and my adviser/counselor never told me. :(. As for geometry, I was just bad at it. There was far too much to memorize. I didn't actually fail that yet, but I'm almost sure I did, unfortunately. :(. I was failing at midterm, and my quiz grades looked no better after.
I also, like many of you, have changed my major. Fortunately, I took my 'basics' first semester, so it didn't hurt anything. :). I switched from Pharmacology(I realized that it sounded boring to me.), to Library Sciences.

I don’t take classes I don’t think I’d like or pass. I’ve never had a reason to drop classes except when I got into a car accident and had to drop out due to injuries.

In college, I would only drop a course if I found out that
I didn't need it or if I knew that it was impossible for
me to pass, even after getting top scores on the final
exams and stuff. I'd never quit because it's "too hard." ;D

I've dropped out of classes before. A math course cause I knew there was no way I was going to pass it an the professor refused to help me. An the second one was a computer class that I went to every class an even went an did the final but I had just started a very stressful job an I was either passed out or at work so she just withdrew me an I took the class the next term an passed it. Sometimes its good to take a class twice.

I have never dropped a class before. I am so stubborn, that even if I am not doing well, I refuse to quit. x]
I just go for extra help from teachers if I need a boost. :]

- I'd drop the classes I don't need. I'm going for pharmacy too and will probably drop that...but anyways I did consider dropping Theatre but I figured I needed at least one class in my university that would be fun. The rest of my classes are like *blah*. Seriously. But I didn't drop any of my classes yet...and I probably will have to for next semester.
My university is haaaard >< but it doesn't compare to a UC system (I have CSU).
