They are like bread-ish momo peach things, usually with red bean paste inside... I don't know what they are called either though. >.< I am Chinese and I know they are part of the culture, but I have seen them in Japanese culture as well.

Haha I am not much help. XD

Is it white with brown/purple-ish sweet smooshed beans inside. Ive tried those before and they are also from asian buffet Ive been to. They are soo yummy. I love em! Sorry I dont have the right name for it. Im filipino and we have those kinds but meat inside and we call them "siopao" I think thats how you spell it. But im not sure about the sweet kinds. This make me want some of those. XD

Omg I love and adore these things like
crazy as I've had similar things like what
you've described before but they only write
it in Japanese or Chinese, there are two places
that I go to and thats why I said either. But I
will have to ask how to say it in English and I
will come back and tell you!

OMG I LOOVE THOSE!

Everytime I go to China Town Buffet, I eat what's left of them, wait for them to bring out new ones, then grab all of them, wrap them in napkins, and stuff them all in my purse. Lol, I get home and pull out like six of them and people are like "what the heck?"

And yea, I think it's red bean paste.

  • Nope, that is something different... the things we are talking about are peach-shaped buns. They look like this, sort of:

... OH WAIT I FOUND THEM!
They are called "longevity peach buns."

    Article about them, haha.

I so could not relate.
I live in the Philippines.
I guess I could say that there's not much delicacies here. If you see our food, you might even consider it disgusting. Or not.
I just usually eat what I see in the table.
Kind of almost don't care what they're called.
But sometimes I do.
Uh.. I'm bored.
Does anybody wanna chat?

I know what you're talking about. The sweet bean paste buns? I get them every time I got to our Asian buffet. They are so yummy! That and this one custard filled bun. I'm making myself hungry...

Kind of sad that my culture isn't even mention in this.
In Korea, we have many of those kinds of things.
Ours are even bigger than the peach at times.
And we fill it with the Pat (The bean paste) and sometimes we fill them with other things like veggies.

In Japanese, the bean paste is called anko. ^_^; I love it; it is so yummy... I've never had these peach things, but I looove dorayaki, which is the bean paste in two little pancakes (picture) and taiyaki, where the paste is in a waffle (picture). ^o^ I looove 'em.

thanks for your awsome help about the longevity buns,i'm soooo thankfull,i've been wondering what they were for a LOOOOONNGG time, and for some reason i never thought to ask the people who work at the buffet they were at,even though i'm kinda friends with the manager and what not...
but ey,longevity buns,i didn't know it was lotus paste...i could have sworn it was bean jelly, they're probably very similar though,i read that they were in a japanese cook book i think.
and they might use bean jelly instead..

I had a pastry like that once...only it wasn't peach shaped. It just had the bean jelly in the middle. BLEH. I couldn't swallow it. T_T Its not fair...how can such a cute little pastry be so nasty to me?

lol, there are so many types of bun like foods with pastry or meat inside. This one is an interesting one, i like the art of the bun shaped and colored like a peach! Red bean paste sounds kinda gross, but its actually super good! It's a little bit of an acquired taste though, like durian.

They're chinese and part of the Dim Sum menu. At least, that's what is usually at buffets.

The first thing was probably red bean paste dumplings.

The second should be Longevity Dumplings.

Did it look like rabbits? Then, would it be japanese.
