not building something

I remember
the days
that it was just your touch

that caused me to fall
taht you could lift me up
then melt me
so easily
yet these days
it seems to take more
that I won't
that I don't fall
till you seem to want to hold my body
as it tries to melt

I have learned to fall
and fall less
it is hard at times
but it strengthens everything
I stand up
walk a different way

walk as if it does not matter
and I trip
at occasion

my melting body
in your arms

45. The concept of forever

"I'll love you till these flowers die"
the girl looked up at him, a bit confused, but cute
she took him on his word
thirteen beautiful roses
one day
to wilt
yet as they bloomed
like her heart
they became even more beautiful
but one day
she noticed
a single one
in the center
hadn't bloomed yet
and still
as all the flowers began to die
she hoisted it up the vase on high
hoping
thinking
scared
that if she touched
the unbloomed one
it would fall
and wilt
like the others
yet the others died
and as she had given up hope
she got hid of the other flowers
careful to not touch the unbloomed one
then, a year later
the boy who had come by one day
returned to her
she was surprised
how would he know
that one never died?
yet as he let her in
he asked
are you willing to stay with me
till it dies?
she nodded in delight, wanting nothing more than his return
yet his head turned to the flower
and he grinned
knowing
by giving it to her
he was going to lover her
forever
