The random hangout threads in the exchange who aren't buying or selling anything and have lots of roleplaying as the only "main" post:
Really annoying.
If you aren't buying or selling, you shouldn't be keeping that thread alive. >_<
There are other places for chit-chatting and roleplaying. Sorry to the people who disagree with me, this is just my opinion. If you'd like to explain your view, please do. :/

- I don't mind chatting but RPing is really annoying. o_O
And if you aren't buying or selling you shouldn't even be trying to keep your thread alive until you are buying or selling.
Thats all I got for now.. xD

Yes, I was wondering about that. I was afraid I was gonna get massed flamed by all the older users if I complained. Especially when the thread isn't selling or buying anything. It's not too bad, just a little... annoying.

There's already been a thread discussing this matter..
http://www.menewsha.com/viewtopic.php?t=34166
Until we get thread subscriptions, there isn't a great deal we can do to stop people from finding ways of keeping their threads alive, not without causing resentment anyway :/

No problem really. When we upgrade to newer software, this can be fixed.

Mm, a new question.
What's the theory behind thread subscriptions and new software fixing it?
Just curious.

With the new software we plan to upgrade to, subscriptions are a standard feature.

It's not like you could post your opinion in a locked thread anyways. - 3- And that thread is almost a month old.

- Thread subscriptions would be awesome, but how exactly would that feature stop all the hangout threads? It wouldn't, right? @[email protected]
The "one thread per person" rule doesn't bother me anymore, but the hangout threads do. XD I've already stated my opinion in the other thread though so I don't really want to sound like a broken record. XD

I don't like those either, but its one thread per person, so what can you do...

It is annoying, if I'm going through the Exchange threads, I'm looking for ones that are buying or selling. I don't think its right that there are threads on the front page that aren't doing either.
If your thread has stopped buying or selling for a time, put up a temporary close (I did that to mine). You can always chat in the Menewsha Nation forum but using up the front page just makes it harder for people who are actually trying to use the Exchange for its intended purpose.

- I agree with you, Alicia. It's frustrating trying to look for certain items and coming across a ton of shops that say:
Buying: none
Selling:none
Seriously? Do you need to keep posting in that thread if it has no purpose? :?
I have no problem with exchange threads that serve as places to both do business and hang out with friends, but if you aren't using your shop as a SHOP, than you can just bookmark it and come back when you have something you want to buy or sell.

Ok, here's the deal, once we have thread subscriptions, people wont need to chat in their thread to stop it from disappearing anymore, because they can subscribe to it and it will never be lost.
Once we have the subscriptions, maybe we WILL start cracking down on people hanging out in the exchange when they don't actually have anything to sell as there will be no excuse to do it any more, but we shall see.

Hrm. I get it now.
You know though, a simple solution could be to just add the list of everyone's shops as a sticky in the exchange. If you have it and maintain it in a seperate place already, why not stick some alphabetizing on it and post it where everyone can see?
EVEN IF you don't ban threads without a purpose in the exchange yet, that could still be helpful.
xD Sorry if I sound like I'm complaining a lot... I'm just one of those people that always asks "why?"
In 8th grade we were doing math, and I asked the teacher "Well how does it work?" And she started to explain how to solve it again and I said "No, I understand how to solve it, but how does the math problem work?" xD She couldn't explain it because apparently she didn't know.
