I don't mind if people wear make up. I hate to see black eyebags though.. >.>..
I myself wear a little foundation under my eyes. :3 then I curl my eyelashes, and wear some eyeliner. that's my usual day make up.
my evening make up contains a bit more make up, like eye shadow and powder and something else..
don't wear mascara anymore, it sucks >.<

Apparently, to the people around here, that means they don't take care of themselves. If you don't care about your appearance, you're probably a slob. So they say, anyway. Truth is, people are going to judge you no matter what. There's no point in not wearing make-up, or anything else for that matter, just because someone might judge you. However, that can work the other way around too. :XD I just don't think that it should be considered 'unnecessary' if someone just feels like putting it on to go to the grocery store. It makes people comfortable with themselves. Why try to take that away?
Clothes may be needed, but 'fancy' clothes aren't. I mean, how often do you see someone walking in sandals with heels and someone starts talking about how they shouldn't wear that, they're just going to the beach? They're not needed, so heels should be reserved for fancy parties, right? Should everyone always walk around in tennis shoes except for things like parties and weddings? Yeah...that just doesn't make sense to me. Why try and restrict what someone else wants to do saying it should be for 'special occasions?' If someone likes something, and has to money to pay for it, they should be allowed to wear it. People wear different types of clothes and jewelry that suit their tastes and very few people complain that it isn't the right place for it. I don't see why make-up is so different. Help me out here?
It's not just for parties. I know someone who wore the neon green eyeshadow to school. :XD A lot of other people disliking it is a horrible reason to not want to do or wear something. D= I can see your point on the animal testing though.
As a side question, what if someone doesn't have any real, outer beauty? What if they're just...ugly? (I know that was kind of mean, but do you think that they shouldn't wear make-up except for special occasions, even though it might make them feel better about themselves and more comfortable around others?)
rillaz -
Yay, I'm not the only one who likes crazy colors!
|
Yea i guess people without makeup gets judged cause "omg leik thir su ugly", or well something that sounds as retarded as that...since i can guess it normally comes from the people wearing too much makeup when it's something badly.
Also that's a very lame form of prejudging ._. i mean, not taking care of themselves? Shouldn't people look on the teeths or skin instead then?
Just because a person doesn't look pretty doesn't mean that they actually take more care of the body than the people who sit in front of the mirror for hours xD
Well why take it away? I guess it's kinda like smokes, sometimes it make younger people think that they're cool and they feel good about that, still it's not something that is exactly needed, right ? (Just using an example)
About the fancy clothing, well i don't really have anything fancy, though i have the money to buy some i donate them to good causes instead.
And i'm not saying that they aren't allowed to wear it, i just say it might give the wrong impression. Same like if people go to what i call cancer-centers to get so sun burned that they look like poop in the face xD

might I add something, here in this area where I live, if you don't color your hair and/or wear make up, people are going to think that you are laestadian.. and that's "bad" xD
I didn't even know about laestadians before I came to junior high and didn't wear make up, people started to WARN me about other people thinking I might be laestadian because I don't wear make up and colour my hair D: silly..

Don't ask me because I really don't understand it. That's just what they say around here. I suppose that they may think that if they aren't willing to take time out of their day to put on make-up, they're also too lazy to wash their face and brush their teeth and things like that. I'm really not sure what the line of thinking is; I never bothered to ask. :XD
I don't think smoking is a very good example. I mean, wearing make-up doesn't eventually kill you. :XD Like I said, it's not so much about being needed, but things people want. I mean, there are very few things we do that are really needed, but we do it anyway because we enjoy it. And if someone enjoys something, I'm not about to try and put a restriction on it, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone.
The fancy clothing was just another example of something that isn't needed, but worn because of personal taste. It's less likely that someone will claim a certain shoe or something is unfit because they're not somewhere special. I think make-up should be like that. It should be for all occasions, if the wear-er has the patience to put it on all the time.
What kind of wrong impression does make-up give? I mean...I don't see how wearing make-up could make anyone look particularly bad. Tanning booths may make you look orange and strange, but I don't think they'd make you look like a bad person either. You lost me here.

I wear makeup, but I'm very particular with it.
I only use very light makeup, and it has to be very subtle. If your makeup's too heavy, you just end up looking like a schoolgirl who's trying too hard to look older so she can get served at a bar. Ew.
If your makeup alters the way you look so much that you look really different with it on, then you're wearing way too much, and you're applying it wrong.

I don't wear make up, only for special occasions. Makeup harms the skin and I think it's a bit..well generally, make people look fake. I don't mind it if someone wears a little, but if I can tell they're wearing a lot of it, it makes me think the have self-accepting issues.

I love makeup! I wear it all the time lol I put on a mineral veil, then a really pretty pink blush, then I curl my lashes and apply mascara, then I do my eye makeup which is kickass and then finally I apply either lipgloss or lipstick (maybe even both lol)
I love makeup because you can express your creativity with it ^^b

i don't wear make-up
first off it's too much of a hassel for me
and the money could be spent on something else
i don't actually NEED it
plus girls can be beautiful without massive amounts of make up on

I wear some makeup, but not so much that you wouldn't recognize me without it. Usually all I wear is eyeliner, pink/black eyeshadow, and mascara. The kind of "look" I go for wouldn't really be complete without it.
I don't judge people on whether they wear makeup or not, since up until recently I actually refused to wear it myself. But it DOES bug me when I can't actually RECOGNIZE someone without their makeup on. It's not MEANT to be a mask. >.<;

I wear make-up a lot. But not a lot of make-up. Just eyeliner and mascara to accentuate my eyes and make them look smaller and brighter. Plus, sometimes it's just fun to play around with make-up. And if you get the right kind, you won't feel like you are wearing any!
Bare essentuals is my choice. However you spell it. :gonk:

I don't wear it. I'm to lazy to find time to faff over myself like that, not to mention my complete incompitance when it comes to putting it on.
I also don't like that way people never quite look the same as they did before they started wearing it.

So I'm going to be the only one coming in here saying they wear a lot of make-up, right? Mmyes. Nice.
Well, I do. Foundation, powder, eye shadow creme, eyeshadow powder (over the creme, keeps it in place), eyeliner, black eyeshadow powder over the eyeliner (also keeps it in place), mascara... the occasional-but-rare lip-gloss. And, yes, this is my semi-daily routine, I do it whenever I'm going somewhere. Yes, even to the store.
But that doesn't make me a fake person - that means I like using it, enjoy being creative with my eyes, and have bad acne that requires proper covering. So there. And, yes, I do feel uncomfortable without it, but that's more because it's become a habit and something that I do, same as getting dressed, to go somewhere. I'd feel just as uncomfortable (well, okay, somewhat MORE uncomfortable) if I forgot to wear a shirt, or pants, or something. Same difference, in my opinion.
Huh, and now I actually have to start my make-up. Leaving later. This reminded me, so that's pretty helpful, I suppose...

I wear make up, and I'm hot :3
I think it depends on the person. Personally I think make up is a fun way to express yourself as a woman, I love all the different colours!
And for the men who say they like girls better who don't, thats fine, but when they are in the strip club, I assure you it's the women with the luscious red lips who are getting all the tips! XD But then again you only get certain types of men in strip clubs.
I've found a lot of men (not all) want make up on girls they'd sleep with at clubs, but not on girls they'd like to marry.
I don't really understand the ideology, I'm sure it's just that they assume make up is put on to attract men, so when their partner starts looking pretty, maybe they fear she is being slut like and trying to attract other men? ;p
What a lot of men don't realise is that we aren't putting make up on for them, we are putting it on for ourselves, because it makes us feel good :)

The only time I wear makeup is on special occasions. I do like wearing eyeliner and eyeshadow on normal days but that's about it. I hate spending extra time putting makeup on my face when at the end of the day I'm just going to wash it off later. The only time I find it a worthwhile to spend the extra time in putting on makeup is when I'm going to a wedding or something else that can be considered a special occasion.

I wear makeup. But only a little.
Some people wear way too much. You should use makeup to accentuate your features - not make a brand-new face.
Normally, I'll just put on some mascara on the upper eyelashes, and a bit of powder to keep down shine (I'm a teenager, thus, I have a very oily face)
If I'm breaking out REALLY bad (like today >.< Stupid period.) I'll put on some concealer, too.
Sometimes I'll wear a little bit of eyeliner, too. It just depends on whether I feel like it or not. It takes a while to get it just right. >.<
I almost NEVER wear anything on my lips. (except chapstick, but that doesn't count. that's not makeup.) I prefer to draw attention to my eyes, not my lips.
Today, however, I have to wear this ugly bright pink lip stain to hide this GIANT FUCKING RED pimple that is RIGHT on my lip.
It hid it very well. But now my lips are kind of... bright. >.< I like hot pink and all, just, god, not on my lips!

I only put on make-up if I am going for a job interview and even then it's 'natural' looking, I don't go for a heavily made up look when I put make up on.
Generally it's a rarity that I put it on, it's become an inside joke with my family that I'm going out on the pull or something like that, highly annoying

I wear makeup, I don't leave the house without it.
Usually only foundation, eyeliner and mascara and some sort of lipgloss/stick.
It looks like I wear more than I actually do because I make my eyeliner kinda thick :/
I think everyone looks better with makeup, thats the whole point of it.
But not everyone NEEDS it.
Its like clothes too.How you do your makeup reflects your personality a bit.

Pretty much no guys i know has ever been to a strip club...and yes they're over 18, 21 and at some points even 40. So yea, guess i don't go around the guys/girls who likes people who wear too much makeup xP
So when guys put it on, it's fooor xP?
And well, if the guys/girls are paranoid yes, if my girlfriend did it i'd let her xP I don't mind people who take it on, i just don't see the real reason for it, since it seems like people are hiding behind some sort of appeal...Well at least it isn't "poop burned face" from "cancer centers" xD
Oh and for Plastic Dolly:
I've actually talked about that before, but anyways! The clothing doesn't exactly have to appeal the personality at all, not even a single bit and in most cases it's just wrong prejudging :3

Make up is something for people who are not sure from his/herself
the most are afraid of the thing "i am ugly" but there are people who look to the inside, not the outside..
i am a person who looks to the inside of sumone, so make-up is not needed for me.
i dont wear it myself, i did once for an "gothic" party ( it was fun tho ) its looked good on me but i never do it again becouse i didnt knew who i was in the mirror..
