I don't hate people who smoke pot but I do hate people who TELL people they smoke pot. Seriously, no one cares. :|
I personally haven't tried it and I doubt I will. I'm just not really interested in knowing what it's like.

If you can do it and still handle your life, then that's one thing. But some people can't handle it, move on to other drugs, etc. I've got personal stories from people I've known, and to me it just isn't worth it.
I'm not interested, but I've got friends who can manage just fine smoking it only on occasion. Just like I've got friends who can manage only getting drunk on occasion and friends who uh, have had more troubles with substances than that. ;0

That's why I don't do it every day. I do it maybe once between the span of two weeks to two months.

pot has 5x the tar effect on your lungs compared to cigs. And sense a lot of people hold it longer then cig smoke its even worse.
And yes it is addictive-you may claim its not but anything that changes your reward pathway is. The THC effects the reward pathway just like any other drug and thats what makes it addictive.
I personally think its stupid, expensive, smells bad and can really mess someone up. you may not die from an overdose but I know plenty of people I worked with who lost their job because of the habit.
Whatever you want to do with your life is fine but don't get so hyper-defensive because we don't agree with you.
The only thing pot is good for is glaucoma and a few other types of patients.

I don't do any drugs and never felt the need. Plus my fiance is highly allergic. I have friends who do and that's their thing. I think if you can handle it and it's the occasional thing, that's fine, but I've had friends who have ruined their life with drugs. They started with pot, got bored and moved onto harder drugs. I also am easily addicted to things so I avoid drugs.

Wow, this thread is so amusing...
I feel I'm a relatively intelligent, functional person. I managed to smoke all though college, got A's and B's and graduated with two degrees in four years. Since then, I've become a professional, successful pot-smoking adult with a good job and very few concerns about my behavior. Not only do my professional, successful friends smoke, so does my mother and some of my friends parents. All have jobs and do them well.
I'm not sure how intelligent it is to group all smokers together. Sure, I've met plenty of burned-out, retarded smokers, but I've also met plenty of alcoholics, meth addicts and pill heads. And I know plenty of people who don't participate in any of it, whose lives are a mess simply because they can't get their shit together because they are unmotivated and feel like the world should work for them.
What I'm saying is: blame the person, not the drug.
Marijuana is far less addictive than cigarettes or alcohol, and yet, it's illegal, while some of the worst vices in our society are legal. Ridiculous.
I have no problem with opposing points of view on this matter -- everyone deserves to have their own opinion. I myself was one a staunch straightedge because of my father's alcoholism and cocaine addiction (thank goodness my parents were divorced when I was very young), but through the years I've come to learn that I'm in charge of my own destiny -- not a drug.
I've experimented with plenty of things, and I did learn some great lessons from them, but most everything, besides smoking marijuana, I'm done with. I learned my lessons and I don't need to do those things anymore, as my experimentation with drugs was simply to learn more about myself and those around me, including society as a whole.
I don't smoke cigarettes because they're disgusting, and I drink very rarely. If smoking pot is my only vice, I think I'm doing pretty well.

No.
I don't like anything that alters my grasp on reality.
Be they drugs, alcohol, or even laughing gas at the dentist's office. Hell, even being sleepy or slap-happy annoys me. I prefer to be 100% in control of myself 100% of the time. I don't want to "take the edge off". Life has an edge. Oh well. I'm used to it. If I want to get away from it all, I'll read a book or watch TV. You can't become physically, mentally, or emotionally dependent on TV or a book.
And I'm also very fond of my brain cells. My family seems to have a bad curse of getting brain-frying super fevers. My great-uncle got one, which has left him mentally impaired, and with the maturity and general intelligence of a fifth grader. My mom got one, but it wasn't near as bad or anything. She's normal, just she forgets things more often than some people.
So in case that ever happens to me, I don't want a good portion of my brain cells to be already gone.
And sure, there are some people that just smoke pot and never move on. But then lots of people wonder "Will this drug make me higher?" "Maybe that one is more fun" and then it snowballs into something completely ugly and soul-wrecking.
Additionally, I don't want to put tar and shit into my body. I take good care of my body.
I lose respect for people that eat very unhealthily. I lose respect for people who intentionally harm themselves, or put themselves in danger. I lose respect for those who smoke cigarettes. And I also lose respect for people who smoke pot or do any other drugs for the same reason. I don't like when people don't take care of themselves.
It's their body and their choice. I know that. But that doesn't mean I must like or respect their choice.

No, I don't smoke pot. I think it's just another stupid way to escape life. Go to bed, don't spend all your money on something you could get easily by going to some other country.
I think it's stupid if you smoke pot. Sure it can't kill you instantly, but it will...very slowly. Just like people who smoke other things... other than cigars. You wanna get high, go ride a roller coaster.

I know a lot of people that smoke pot, and honestly, I don't care if they do. It's their decision and none of them have used it as a 'gateway drug', none of them have gotten arrested and they all have good grades.
It's their decision and I only don't myself because I can't stand the smell.
People need to back off on people that choose to smoke pot, it's not the worse thing in the world, and everything damages braincells. Drinking, doing sports, hell, getting hit by a pencil damages braincells. D:

- Good post, Squishface.

I was first exposed to marijuana in a small town where just about everyone smoked. I know people who have blazed with local cops. I've gone with friends who wanted to buy pot from a friend, and the guy's parents were the ones who handed over the pot. It was never a big stigma or forbidden fruit to me like it is to most teens and young adults. I'd compare my experience with pot to kids and alcohol in Europe -- because it isn't seen as this big rebellious thing to do, there is not much evil associated with it.
I've gotten pretty much straight As in school my whole life and I smoke. Participated in extracurriculars and all that as well. I knew a bunch of kids from my honours/AP classes, from dance, from the school plays and musicals I worked backstage with, who were regular smokers. I personally do not consider school grades an indicator of intelligence or success, but I assume most people here do, so there you go. Sure, there were the stereotypical lazy stoners barely scraping by in school. Think about it though, don't you know people like that who don't smoke?

I'm a pretty clean person, haven't ever tried and don't ever plan to smoke or do drugs. I have tried sipping alcohol before but it tasted way too gross for me to even consider continuing with it.
Personally, like some other people have said in here, I see no reason why i would want to take something that causes me to lose control of myself. I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of some story of substance abuse where harm has come to themself or others and I for one am not going to be responsible for that. Also, I'm just 100% sure that I don't want to take something that's harmful for me. I barely have to search to find information about it's harmful effects.
Besides, even if you believe that marijuana is safe, you can't be sure that the dealer hasn't laced it with something else to make it more harmful.

- No, mainly because I'm allergic.
Well, that and I enjoy having functional braincells.
I hate when I tell people I'm allergic to pot and they're all like "Omg! You poor girl! I feel so bad for you."
Why? >.>
It's not like I know what I'm missing. I don't really care.
For the record, I didn't find out I was allergic by smoking it, I knew my dad was deathly allergic, so I've always been very cautious. The few times I've been close enough to the smoke to have a reaction, it hasn't been pretty. I'm not willing to tempt fate and try it full out.

No, I don't smoke pot.
I know someone who does, and it doesn't seem like he's in heaven all the time, if you know what I mean.
He spends most of his time complaining about how he's not going to make it into college and how he knows it's bad but he can't stop.
So I'm gonna stay a non-smoker for now.

Interesting read.
I honestly could give less of a shit if other people would smoke pot, as long as they don't hop into their car right after doing a hundred or so joints.
And if I could actually get ahold of some weed, I'd prolly use it. =/
I'd rather people smoke weed than do other drugs or alcohol.

I agree to people who think smoking/doing drugs are dumb. Yes they are, and a lot of peoples agrees. Drugs are a waste of money, and it CAN KILL you. It has been proven. Smoking=cancer, cancer=death. And not just cancer. Smart people wouldn't even think about doing such things and people who's thinking about it, go bang your head on the wall. NOW! >w<

I do not smoke pot but I really don't care if people do or not. And I will defend those and say it is not physically addictive but I personally believe the mental addiction is a lot worse, and harder to break. Also, it does have an affect on your respose time, it may not do the same as alcohol and other drugs but I still think that maybe if you do smoke, you shouldn't drive.
Also, I know this basically an anonymous site, but admitting that you smoke pot to on any website is not a smart thing to do. As my ex-English teacher once said "Do not put anything online that you wouldn't want your Grandma, boss or English teacher to read." Seeing as everyone has access to the interenet. So, y'know, just something to mull over before you put any other of your illegal behaivors online. x)

First of all, I agree with Estrella, in the fact that admitting you are doing something illegal ANYWHERE is stupid. That's like when people post pictures on the internet of themselves drinking alcohol when they are underage.
I don't get the point in it. You escape related for a little bit... And possibly get some brain damage to boot, yay for you.

OP looks like the poster child for pot. o__o;
I don't do any drugs at all. Nor do I drink. I just think it's
a waste of money and I don't need drugs to have fun. Cigarette
smoke also grosses me out. I lost my best friend because
her bf introduced her to pot. She hasn't passed away,
but I haven't heard from her. It changed her in a bad way
because pot, of course, leads to other drugs.
I don't mind the people who are successful in life even
though they smoke pot. It's the people who brag about it
and think that they're awesome who I hate. It also bothers
me when people say stuff like, "Zomg, last night when
I was high, I did this and this... blah blah blah.."
