@Foxberry: GG Meetup? XD LOL I DON'T REMEMBER SAYING THIS!!! I must now search back (lol luckily I think I make my first appearance one page back) to find where I mention that so I can better clarify!
And yeah, I agree, Wigs really are a nice touch to a cosplay. It really brings it together. I am more inclined to actually telling my friend Chris to buy a Wig for Peter White instead of letting me dye his hair. It would be a lot easier and he HATED what they had to do to his hair last year when his friends made him to PoT XD;;

I spend a lot for wigs. xD
Especially if I know that they will last long and are of good quality.
It helps bring the character out. :3
Unless you can do it with your own hair then why not? :D
Since I'm Filipino, my hair is long and black. PERFECT FOR OICHI FROM SENGOKU BASARA.
@Kamikiri
Nope. That's from Sengoku MUSOU. :D They're from Koei. ^^

@White Beast: AHAHA! ahh ahh. I love Sengoku Basara and it looked similar (Well, technically they're nearly identical XD)
Wigs are a costly feature. But so important and GAH! I keep forgetting to go back. When I see "GG" I think Golden Gate-- AHHHHH!!!! It hit me! Golden Gate Park in SF. XD;; I think that's what I meant.
Hetalia cosplayers like to hold meetings in Golden Gate Park. A friend of mine has pictures from one gathering and that's why when someone mentioned it I was like OHHHHH!!!!

Ah! So that's what you meant. Lol. None of the Hetalia meetups I've been to thus far have been in Golden Gate. There is one though going on most likely the 5th of December at Westfield mall.
Oh on another note I forgot I had this pic of me as Reno... Went to McDonalds when I was at Animazement; Enjoy. http://koke-momo.deviantart.com/art/...rger-123837611

@Fox-- Do I need to keep doing this since it's just the two of us up right now?
AND REALLY??? I'm not a huge hetalia fan though DX I liked it but then all the yaoi people kept doing to it kinda turned me off of it. (I hate it when really fun series get over yaoi'd) I kinda want to see the Westfield gathering.
Does anyone else with darker skin feel weird about cosplaying sometimes? There are some pretty elitist people out there who are like "If you don't match the character you shouldn't do it" and not like I don't disagree completely. I've done both genders in cosplays and I think if, like me, you have a very girly looking face you shouldn't attempt a male character unless they are girly looking in the series. (Me as Hijikata from Gintama was too much of a failed Cosplay) But like I fell uncomfortable about cosplaying because of how tan I am. That's why I picked Momo Adachi as my cosplay last year, since she shares my feelings. I mean, I do everything she does and I try to lighten my skin tone but any amount of time in the sun I tan really quickly.
So I was just curious to see if others sometimes felt weird about cosplaying certain light skin characters because they had dark skin of any nature. I mean... guys are the tan ones, girls usually aren't. I could probably do Rose from .Hack once I workout a bit more. I totally dropped 35lbs since Fanime.
I know this one is kind of harsh, but do others sometimes feel a little weird about seeing larger sized people doing skimpy cosplays? I'm not thin or anything, but I'm not big either and I get really self concious about being in a skirt. I'm not bashing anyone who is plus sized and cosplaying, it's curiosity. Some people I know think they shouldn't cosplay at all. (I believe cosplaying should be for everyone, but I'm incredibly self concious and wonder how people get passed it)

Nah... I don't think so. You know who I'm addressing and vise versa.
Anyway here you go; http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia/4597679.html Don't mind the 14+ it's because it's live journal. But yeah the last Hetalia Meetup that I went to was the World Hetalia Day and the people who went there wanted another meetup, so we decided to do a Holiday one.
The people were really cool, yeah there are some people who like the yaoi including myself but it wasn't obnoxious.
Feel free to join us, it was a lot of fun last time we hung out. X3 And not everyone cosplayed when I went to WHD.
I know there are some elitest persons out there when it comes to cosplay. In fact I've defended both people who have darker skin and who have a larger frame so to say. I don't think it matters at all if the person is darker skinned... One of my good cosplay friends are darker and she does such wonderful cosplays; it doesn't bother me at all.
As for the weight; that too doesn't bother me. I think that a curvy lady is awesome. However I do feel that someone whose 200-300lbs should not cosplay a character in a bikini. I think if it's done tastefully cosplay is for all sizes. Like Telma from LoZ; I cannot see a skinny girl cosplaying her. She's actually a curvy lady with a heavier weight and she's such an awesome character. I've also seen very beautiful curvy women play Lulu.
I'm about eh 98lbs, however I have no intentions of cosplaying a character that's skimpy outfits. One because I don't have clevage and two; super thin girls don't look good in skimpy outfits anyway. That and- even if you're 98 and you don't do actual situps (like me I'm lazy I work out my thumbs all day XD) you still get a bit of pudge around the stomach area... So yeah... I don't have a sexy flat iron board tummy.
It's not just heavier girls; it's the thin girls too who get concious of their weight. >P I still see myself underweight, but I can't gain weight either... Damn metabolisim.
Anyway- I think I'm going to head off it's after 4 now XD and I'm going to go iceskating for the first time. ._.; We'll see how that goes. See you all tonight sometime.

Well I'm 19, so the 14+ doesn't bother me XD HAHAHA!
And I might go. Gives me an excuse to go into the city and all that. (I lived there for 15 years)
And if you guys are so close to Jtown, won't you guys just end up migrating that way anyways? I mean it's one bus ride, or a 7-8 block walk... Maybe a few more. But the walk is simple.
And yes I agree with all that you've said. AND 98?! GAHHHH! I WISH I WEIGHED THAT MUCH! I'm 5'3" And I now weigh 126lbs!!! I've never looked my weight so it's been all good AND I'm an asian with curves XD So I could never do the skimpy stuff.
There is this one cosplayer that I see everywhere and she has great cosplays but... She doesn't know her limits. I don't like saying she's awful because she's not, it's just that... She's kind of heavy set and ... LEts just say, this one time that she was dressed as yuna, she lifted her arms and I saw everything. She wasn't even wearing a bra... I could never picture yuna the same way DX
I'm quite particular. I'm so happy that the next character I'm doing is so covered up... But she has some serious cleavage going on. People say I do too but I really don't. It just looks like it because I stand very straight (My friends tower over me, being 6'+) and when I stand straight, I stick my chest out more.
AND AHH! I have to start practicing my poses too! I'm going to be a queen after all XD
I LOVE PRACTICING MY POSES!!! I miss having a full length mirror. I really want to do a very intimate almost kiss pose with my friend. Since Vivaldi is the only female character to fall for Alice, so I hope my friend allows me to almost kiss her... although I don't think I've ever seen slightly intimate images of Alice and Vivaldi... Poo...
OH! And enjoy ice skating. At Yuerba Buena Center? It's a nice rink there.

Kami, I'm also Southeast Asian like what I said on the Paranormal Cafe thread.
I've cosplayed quite a few and I never got bad comments about my skin.
At least not yet.
I used to let it bother me but... honestly? The hell. xD
If I'm enjoying myself, then why let other people bother me?
Besides, I've been planning to do really good cosplays soon so they won't have anything to say against me. Also, one of my cosplay idols, Yaya Han, isn't quite light colored herself.
I think it's just a matter of confidence. :3
Not all light skinned people who cosplay can pull it off.
It's not a matter of what's outside, but inside. <3
Hope you got the point? XD

Oh yeah, I understand. I've had people make comments about it to me. One of my, at the time good friends insulted me by saying I should cosplay a character of my own skin tone once and I got really angry at him.
I love cosplaying, but I know sometimes I feel like I don't do the character justice. LOL!! I totally would have asked to be Alice for my group, but I was too shy so I decided that I'd rather be Vivaldi than Alice and asked my friend who is fairer to be alice.

In my opinion, skin tone isn't that important.
It can be accented or faked or even hidden under a layer of make up.
What's more important to me is either height/scale or facial structure. Not to mention body structure
Which is why I often cast myself in not too young girl roles because I don't have the tiny boobs of a pre-pubescent little girl. I have the curves of a woman. Though I've been trying to research and see how to get around those.
But facial structure is VERY important IMO.
I know it can typecast you but... I believe if you have a face that's easy to transform into whatever role you wish for it, then it's an ace on your side.
That's why make up is important. It's SO crucial to bring out the character's look on you.
Sometimes, to the point that 'you' are no longer present'.
If you know what I mean. @[email protected]
Call me elitist, but I really have a hard time stomaching particular cosplayers who go as hard and sly looking people... but really don't make an effort to look it or just can't seem to pull it off. T_T

Kamikira: I don't know if we're going to Jtown, we already was there for World Hetalia Day... We'll probably just stay around the mall and go to Union Square since the Christmas tree is already up. Also people were saying they rather stay where it's warmer; the mall's rather large to say the least and there's a lot to look at there, and then there's still stuff around the Center City area. We also might go to the Piers.
Aww and you're not heavy ^^ that sounds like a good weight actually. I mean at least you're not stick thin that people can see ribs and what not. Granted I'm not but; I just rather not show off skin- Granted I do want to cosplay Kuja and Mink. ._.;
Thank you~ I don't think it's at the YBC? Um... It's near the Ferry Building. I don't know a great deal about SF yet. ^^; I just moved here in July.
As for people's facial structures, it's understandable how it can be troublesome. Though the one thing is, if you really want to cosplay these hardcore characters... Why not cosplay them as young versions? I cosplay Germany, and while I'm petite I cosplay a young version of him. But that's just me. I also have plans of cosplaying another character (who will remain nameless) chibi, but I'm going to create the outfit to purposely look chibi.

@whitebeast: I completely agree about makeup! For my current cosplay I've been practicing with foundation and concealer and I've dropped my skin tone by three shades so dar. Make-up is soooo crucial to me in creating the character. When I cosplay I like getting into character so it's really helpful. I didn't know there was somebody else who agreed with me on that. And about face shape I agree, that's why Idress as girls. My face isn't shaped a certain way, it's very young girl looking.
@Foxberry: OHH!! I know where that is. They build that every holiday season, it's temporary. My friends tried to take me last year but they had already deconstructed it.
But that would be a good shoot. I like doing casual clothing shoots with the wigs on and the make-up. To me it's fun to do cosplays like that.But it seems a little hard for hetalia, I mean... look at Canada XD It's almost hard to tell that person is cosplaying haha

@ Irk3n: I feel like cons have gone downhill in general. I've been going to various ones since I was about 13/14 and like... The quality has definitely changed as the fan base has changed. That's what I have noticed at least.
But no, never been to that. I'm a Westcoast girl, so I've only been to ones in Northern Ca (not saying that is the only west coast place, but I haven't traveled far to go to a con)
@Fox: HAHA! That's how it supposedly works I hear. I met my ex at fanime last year, it was kind of fun. I think it's really funny that his friends want to do my idea because it doesn't sound as over played and old as PoT or Ouran.
This is what we're doing
And I have the guys to do it XD;;

Well a lot of the issue is that the attendees have become more... troublesome so I've heard. However; the staffers are making some of these conventions for profit which degrades them horribly. SacAnime is a good example of this. I hated my time there, I really did. I will not be going back. However Animazement was my best convention, I also LOVED yaoi-con but Yaoi-con is nothing like an anime con... I don't even consider it one. Smaller events are always much more fun.
Kamikira: Hehe; men are silly sometimes. XD Ah well... I enjoy working on the costumes myself.
Also- OUUU I LOVE that Cheshire design! That's awesome. I wish you luck!

We need a Cheshire cat though. We have most of the guys but the twins, the guy with the stubble and the blue haired guy but we have pending people for the latter two.
And I mean... I started off with me joking to my Ex's best friend, then he joined, then he got the two other people I pictured to do it then one of them filled all the positions. It's like O.O;; My Ex is going to murder me. And apparently he was really angry at me over it, but we had also invited him to join us but he wants fangirl recognition. (He really wants the glomps, the hugs and the... *ahem* that comes with it)
Oh, I heard SacAnime was awful! I remember when it was like one of the most awesome cons to go to! But yeah... It definitely has gone down. I feel like Fanime is doing the same thing. The guests last year were not great. The year before they had AnCafe and some seiyuu, last year they had some barely famous people.

I know, crazy rite to go all that way? XD
I only went because my fave band of ALL TIME was there.
