I seriously don't know.. never ordered anything from there, and you don't always know about the quality especially if the outfit is self-made.. :3

I might, consider getting a simple costume online, a 'might'. that is if i have the money to be lazy and order. But if you guys suggest ordering is a lil risky, then i might just make up something on my own. I'm not to familiar with sewing patterns yet, that's why I'm asking ^^

I got a Road Camelot costume from ebay and it looked very nice and accurate. The only thing was that it was REALLY big. xD So I had to make the sleeves tighter and the skirt shorter.

I guess it depends on who you order from. Read the feedback. :]

Azuki: Like clockwork said, definitely look at the feedback on the person's sales. Look to see if they provide any images of their work (ie- not taken from another site). Basically look into the seller as much as you can.

I personally wouldn't because I'm a little wary of those things. But if it's simple and you make sure the measurements are right, it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Although as an added note, if you don't try and do the simple things on your own, then you won't ever learn how to work with patterns.

on the side note, I've made my own "creations" ever since I was a little girl, but I still haven't improved much and don't understand patterns xD my brains just aren't made for them.

it does help if you have a lot of patience though.. :P

Patience is key for anything. xD I'm still working on my practice.

I have a lot on my plate now though. My boyfriend wants me to make him a maroon pea coat for his Persona 3 cosplay and it's going to be a trial and a half.

I'm sure it's not for everyone though.

It most likely will be. I've never done a coat before. All the fabric I bought for my Ed coat is still sitting in a pile in my closet. *sweatdrop*

On the other hand it might mean I end up buying myself a sewing machine finally. I don't think I'll be able to work with vinyl and coat material very well by hand.

Unrelated... for those of you who have dealt with wigs. I'm planning on buying a wig for my cosplay and I know i will need to get a wig cap and a stand of some sort for it. What else should I keep in mind when I'm buying it. I won't need to do any styling beyond trimming the bangs, but I will need to be adding some ribbon to it.

just remember that wigs tend to get messy easily, and it's pretty hard to comb them after that.. so whatever you do, try to avoid messing the hair and only take it out of the package when you really need to..

don't know if you need to know anything else ^^

Azuki: One thing to keep in mind is if it's a pretty standard costume, ie- a popular design, there are most likely scores of sites where people explain how they made theirs.

I used to cosplay quite a bit. It was my obsession back in 2002-2005. But I started to lose interest in it over time... mostly because I didn't feel confident enough, and I often found myself on lots of those "haha, fat/ugly cosplayer" forums and threads. But I'm thinking about getting back into it this year.

I've cosplayed:
Rinoa Heartilly - Final Fantasy VIII
Yuna (Summoner) - Final Fantasy X
Yuna (Gunner) - Final Fantasy X-2
Yuna (Psychicer) - Final Fantasy X-2 International
MOMO - Xenosaga Episode III
Puchiko - Di Gi Charat
Flonne - Disgaea

And some others that I can't really remember right now, lots of little random costumes. n_n;;

I usually attend midwest cons (usually in Ohio, and then I also go to Otakon and Anime Central)

But I'm really looking into spending more of my efforts in the artist alley at conventions instead of just focusing on cosplay all the time.

That's a lot of Final Fantasy.

I see a lot of those sorts of threads around, making fun of people for their appearance. I always just kinda thought that if you have fun doing it and really enjoy it, then it's not worth listening to the mean comments. Ultimately, you're doing it for yourself.

I've cosplayed as two different characters; one half original and the other an actual licensed character. They are as follows:

Trowa Barton (several times)
A Random Konoha Ninja (once) - Looked somewhat like Tifa Lockheart.

mya! fran cosplay!! *loves fran* i saw a good one on youtube before, during some convention thing.
What i havent seen yet is a darker cosplayer in a fran costume, that would be so cool >w<
but ya, FF outfits are so detailed it takes alot of time to make one i would imagine ^^; but never impossible :3
