There was a fight scene, if that's what you mean.
I posted a review of the movie in my Mene blog.
It just basically went way too fast. Events that took place over the course of a few months looked like they happened within a week. The editing was bad. And a few times they referred to something that never happened in the movie...

Hmm, yeah, probably. From what I saw from the commericals. XD;
Ooh I see. :/ That's why I like books over book movies most of the time... They have to cut out things and speed things up. :>
Well I just died in the Assassin game [ and it had not been a full hour in it yet! ] so I'll probably read real soon now. X'DD
.
.
.
By the way, have you read books by John Grissom? [ Not sure the name XD: ] But it was also on the bookshelves at Target and it seemed well-known. Is it too gruesome?

Let us know what you think of Twilight!
The beginning of it is sort of sucky, but it picks up.
And I wouldn't recommend going into the Twilight thread in the lit forum since there's a very good chance of you seeing a spoiler. But once you've finished, you should definitely come over. We have lots of fun there.
And no, I haven't read those books, sowwy.

Hehehe okay. Yeah, I've seen that thread popped up in the Spy. I was tempted to go in, but I didn't want to see any spoilers... ;3
Oh okay. ^^;
Is there a book you recommend that isn't gory, but a good suspenseful story? A bit of horror?

Lumi:: That's what my mom prefers too. She loves magazines. :3
I can't think of anything off the top of my head...honestly, I haven't really read that much lately. I really want my library membership back. T_T

The movie left out a lot of things and sped through the whole thing (time constraints), so if you haven't read the book, the movie won't make a lot of sense and will be sort of stupid.
|
I have to disagree with you on this Cherry. The people I went with to see this hadn't read the book at all and loved every minute of it and wasn't confused. Though our 3 time seeing it one of them kept asking me questions on what was different from the book, etc. If the movie did anything it was make them want to read the book even more.

Kitami // What happened to your library membership??? o:
I haven't been to the library in ages. I still have unread manga at home. >w<
Oh, speaking of library, my mom had to pay 5 bucks for an overdue magazine that she thought she turned in already. She has them all over the house, so it's not a wonder that one got missed. >___>;
I don't think I ever had to pay an overdue fine/lost a EDIT: *library* book... Not sure about other books. XD;;
EDIT:
Stormy // Ooh another perspective... So have you read the book before the movie? Do you think you enjoyed it more than the people you went with that haven't ? Or it was the same?
The movie scenes weren't too fast you think?

Yeah I read the book before the movie, so it was no surprise to me what was going to happen. And I was sort of bored while watching it because of that fact. The only time that I was really interested was at the scenes they put in that were not in the book and at the end. The people I went with were watching it with their mouths gaping which meant they liked it a lot.
Some scenes were too fast but other then that it was so bad. Though, someone else said this but I forgot who, it felt like them falling in love happened in like 2 days not however long it took in the book.

Stormy - Really?
Maybe it seemed that way BECAUSE I had read it so I was used to a slower pace?
I don't know, it felt like it lacked some of the [little] depth that Twilight had.
Not that Twilight is a particularly deep book at all -god, no- but the movie just didn't seem to completely get it.

Are we still talking about Oprah..or no..xD
Because I remember about 5 years ago my mom went on a book buying spree at Barnes & Nobles, not that I mind books, but she bought like 20 books all with the Oprah sticker on it. @ [email protected] I think to this date I've only read one of those books and that was because it was for school.

Yeah it was a book first, then they made a manga adaptation for it. I want to read the manga really bad, but I heard the book is much better. So I'm glad I read it first. Though I recommend it either way. xD

@knerd - thank you for putting my thoughts into words. (as i cannot for the life of me) XD
@guivre - the sex lives of cannibals. i saw that at work and was like "...wha?" but now i think i have to read it. :3
@kitami - you can probably still get it for %40 off because you just know it will be on the bestseller shelves for a while.
but don't hold me to it because i'm not sure if they will put it on the bestseller shelves or keep if off because it might be considered a kids book.
(ps. it's cheaper on amazon.)
@dani - i love how i can recognize by the pictures on the cover and their place in the store, but it's great for when people come up to me in the store and go "what's that book that has such-and-such on the cover?" and i can just show them where it is. 8D

Yes! Yes yes yes!
Which is why it's really upsetting when they change around the covers of beloved books for their movie interpretations. I mentally collapse: "Book! Not movie! Movie different! Movie bad! Book good!" When you recognize the book by its cover and associate the two, a weirdly irrelevant new cover can throw you for weeks. One could call the result emotionally damaging.
Kinda like how an infant would respond if Mommy dyed her hair blue. There would be a minor upset, no?

I often find myself showing people where books are in book stores (sometimes even the people who work there). Once I get oriented, I just have a knack of figuring out the shelving logic. I think it comes of having worked in an old college library with erratically placed bookshelves. The fiction was in the basement through a backroom and a computer lab...

-sigh- Due to a librarian's "mistake" (i.e.- she lied. :sarcasm:), I owe something like $35 to the library, which I can't afford to pay.

Ooh what's the name of the author? I like horror books. Even gory ones, occasionally.
Can't watch slasher flicks though. I don't know why. :/
I would think if I like horror in one medium, I'd like it in another, but I don't. xD

Well I think the 40% discount was only if you reserved it in advance...
I still might get a 20% discount though like I did with like all four twilight books because I have a member's card. ...or maybe it was 30%...well anyway, there'll still probably be a discount involved. XD;
Maybe I'll have my nana take me over there tomorrow... :D
Oh really? >_> -goes to look at amazon-

@Kitami: It's by Otsuichi
@Aislin: Ahhh I freak out too. I want to yell at the publisher for changing covers. I become so disorientated.
There was a disclaimer in the front of one of my books saying:
Quote:
|
If you purchased this book without a cover, you should be aware that this book is stolen property. It was reported as "unsold and destroyed" to the publisher, and neither the author or publisher have received payment for the "stripped" book.

@aislin - it's so disorienting, but because i see them everyday, i get pretty used to both covers.
@shadowfoot - i got pulled into showing customers where books are on my breaks if i wander out of the breakroom and even if i come in on my days off in civilian clothes (XD) because i apparently give off that "librarian/bookseller" vibe when i walk around because i know the shelves.
@kitami - nono, at b&n, we have %40 discount for bestseller hardcover books for members.
@immortaleyes - hotdamn, keep at it! 8D
@dani - they actually have to do that. sometimes we take down huge amounts of mass market books that never sold and have to "strip" the covers. we send the covers back to the publisher and just toss the rest of the book. (it makes me sad) but sometimes sneaky booksellers will take the rest of the books to sell without covers so the authors and publishers don't get paid for those.
much sadness. "it makes me cry inside when i have to strip." (yes, i actually said that at work one time XD)
