Eeh... he doesn't pick out my purses for me... but when he makes a suggestion usually I at least TRY it. Espically if he's the one paying to get me a new purse. LOL. <3 Most of the time the suggestions he makes are better for me anyway. I trust him and only when there's something worth fighting about do I bother fighting. *shrugs* purses aren't worth fighting over and besdies... I'll be adopting your idea once I think i'm not too poor to afford another one. (the first one got make-up spilled all over the inside.)

Precisely. :yes:

You are wise to note it. That's the "viral" element of those books, I think.

Also: YAY I HAVE A LAPTOP BATTERY! *dies of joy*

I finished off The Stranger on Tuesday, and loved it. I enjoyed it enough, in fact, that I was really happy to write the in-class essay for it. And now? No assigned books for awhile! Is anyone else planning to use a wintry holiday for the purpose of obsessive reading?

::raises hand:: Oh I am! People got/are getting me books for my birthday so I'll have more to add to my 'To Read' pile. I'll read for days as soon as I finish finals. :headdesk: Philosophy essays are not my friends.

I actually didn't ask for any books this year. I already have quite a few books in my to-read pile, and there isn't really anything that I want that don't have. There's only two or three books.

I am using it to try to up my DVD collection, though. It's very pathetic.
I got Pride and Prejudice already, though. Which is awesome, since that's one of my all-time favorite movies. :D I could watch it over and over.

I didn't ask for books either (except from those who work at a book store). I kind of wanted movies... Though books work just as well. xD

I keep staring at the book that I'm going to start after I finish reading the Twilight books. It's around 1500 pages. That's a big book. Big enough that I feel like it's staring back at me daring me to read it...

lol I know how you feel Shadow. I have these books I got from the library that I've been dying to read but I have to finish my school book first (Huckleberry Finn) which isn't something I'm interested in really reading despite it being good.

May I ask what book that is daring to have you read it?

Night Angel by Brent Weeks. It's really a trilogy, but the copy I have is all of them combined. It's a book about an assassin, which is a strange weakness of mine....:sweat:

Yes, the newer one. With Keira Knightley.
I :heart: it so much.
I haven't seen the BBC version yet, but I will eventually. It's just a matter of knowing when it will be on.
Though I must admit that I've seen pictures and based solely on looks, Colin Firth has nothing on Matthew McFayden. He's so gorgeous.

Though I just saw it yesterday, I'm seriously considering watching it again. Yesterday I was doing some other things while I was "watching" it, so I was actually just listening to most of it. So I missed a lot of Darcy's subtext which I'd like to see.

What movies did you ask for?

I can't remember all of the ones I asked for (I forgot a few that when I made my list) but I THINK I asked for Titanic, Forrest Gump, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Dark City and Pride and Prejudice (obviously). I won't get them all, of course. I make a long, diverse list so that my mom can pick a few things from it so it'll still be a surprise.

Assassins and gorgeous men, they seduce anyone into reading a book. I may have to go pick up 'The Way of Shadows' now. xD

@Cherry: I asked for Phantom of the opera (the older film not the 2004) The original the Day the Earth stood still, Miyazaki films, and some other stuff.

@Cherry:: I've seen glimpses of the BBC one and planned on recording it but it was like 4 or so hours long and I didn't have that much space on my DVR D:

The guy that plays Darcy is gorgeous, I like listening to him talk mostly. : D

I think I actually enjoy listening to it more because I'm in love with the music and I tend to quote the movie.

Surprisingly I didn't ask for movies this year. Granted I orignially asked for Sweeney Todd but my mom bought it a week after I asked for it. Though my sister is getting Mama Mia so I guess she took my movie selecting this year XD

I haven't seen the older Phantom. Only the adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Weber one (aka the 2004 one). Do you like the newer one?
I do, but I can never watch it. If I do, the songs will stuck in my head CONSTANTLY for about a MONTH. It's fine at first, but after a while it becomes completely MADDENING to have one verse of masquerade stuck in your head for an ENTIRE DAY, NON-STOP.

Aww. D:
Actually, I think it's six hours. @[email protected] But anyway, I guess you need to clear out your DVR. xD; We usually have about twenty to thirty spare hours. But ours may have a larger capacity than yours.

Yeah, I like looking at him though, too. xD
Especially in that rainy scene where he first proposes to Lizzy. His big blue eyes are just... :drool:
And he looks so passionate and so sad at the same time. He's like an eighteenth century emo kid. EXCEPT TOTALLY GORGEOUS.

Well, it's nice when there's nothing that you want. Being happy with what you have is a great feeling.

@Charrylicious:: Yeah I thought it was six but then I was like...'I should put 4 just in case I'm wrong >.>' XD turns out I was right the whole time. I actually just recently clean our the DVR box memory thinger and got it down to 20%, surprised the crap out of my mom too XD

O.O thats my favorite scene as well. That and when him and Lizzy dance for the first time. <3

Oh god 18th century emo kid XD

Yeah, I only asked for one thing this year and that was a Camera (which I went with my date to Ritez to get) everything else is just little nick-nacks my mom though I would like.

I like the new one two, Gerard Butler's hot. xD
I watch it constantly, I also have every CD attributed to the play, and I plan on buying the Broadway DVD whenever it comes out.
I blame the book, I have to read it every year and I have to own anything phantom. I sing masquerade under my breath constantly, its a way of life for me now. :lol:

Gerard Butler is VERY hot, yes. :drool: I mean, isn't Raoul supposed to be more attractive than the Phantom? He most certainly isn't in the movie. xD
I mean, he's sweet and non-stalkery and not a murderer, but he has nothing on the good half of the Phantom's face! xD

I guess it would stop being maddening after a time, but just when I get used to it, it'll switch to something else.

Yeah, it's ridiculously long. But the book was long. And the Hollywood version cut a lot out and STILL ran over the "standard" movie length.

And the very last scene! :heart: Sooo cute.

Yeah but I heard it was worth the length, the BBC version. I haven't' actually finished the book. I get really close to the end but never actually finished it, though I've started over twice XD

End is cute. Though when he's walking through the meadow in the morning fog he reminds me of Snape from HP because his coat is blowing behind him XD

HOLYCRAP, I WAS GONE FOR 11 HOURS AND YOU GUYS TALKED A PAGE AND A HALF. x_x;;;

@aislin - ... i think that's the first time someone has ever called me "wise"
really, i think the "viral" element is that it's a perfect boy who loves an imperfect girl unconditionally. that that is the secret dream of most women.
omg. happy to write an essay?
i would use a winter break to read obsessively, but i don't really get one. i work the three days before christmas. 8DDD

@dani - i swear, i'm ordering those books tomorrow. @[email protected] i've been so busy, it's ridiculous.
(plus a surprise one. you'll love me.)

@shadow - OMG it's those pretty books i keep eyeing at work.
you have to tell me if they're good. :]

@stormy - i know what you mean about the dvr. mine is constantly full because i record shows and go a few weeks without watching any of them. and then some i keep on the dvr, but really, i should just delete them. :[

... i also really only asked for a camera. from my mom because my few-year-old one just died last week. it wouldn't even turn on. ;_;
i trust most of my friends to find cute random stuff that i'll love. XD

thank you for making me snort when you compared mr. darcy to snape. <3

@cherry - i understand your phantom pain. dani showed me phantom while i was visiting her and masquerade was stuck in my head for a WEEK.

general:
i really want to read pride and prejudice now. THANKS, GUYS. >_>;;;

Oh, I'm sure it is.
And yeah, the book is sooooo long. Like, in the 2004 version you know how Darcy's letter is pretty short and to the point?
In the book, he rambles on for like [approximately] SIX PAGES. SIX PAGES. SIX PAGES OF SMALL, CRAMPED TEXT.
SIX.
PAGES.
Granted, he explained the thing with Bingley and Jane in the letter, not in person. So the letter covered Mr. Wickham and Bingley, but STILL.
SIX PAGES.
There was so much rambling and redundancy in that letter. He just.... ARGH.
DARCY'S GREAT, BUT NEVER TRY CORRESPONDING WITH HIM. :headdesk:

XD Yeah, I do the same thing, I have a few episodes of Ghost Whisper on there that I have yet to watch XD I think the only thing that I have yet to delete on there is the last survivor ep and a Celtic Woman concert.

lol yeah I leave all the randomness to my friends, I got twilight buttons today and flipped out XD

XD I hope that was a 'she's awesome for pointing that out' funny snort lol.

@Cherry:: Oh god reading that letter was horrible. I read it all the first time through the book but the second time I just skimmed it. He's not someone I would like to be pen pals with.

All this talk about P&P made me take the book today and read it in Latin before we sung. XD Now I want to watch the movie : )
