I finished the Cecilia Holland book Lily Nevada, today. It was great, and refreshing to read something in that time period, for a change. It reminded me a lot of Lost Empires and Reserved for the Cat with the theatre vibe.

I'm really not sure what I should pick up next. Maybe I'll just head over to the new books shelves before I head home from the library.

You know, I've never read anything by Anne Rice. She just doesn't appeal to me. She's such a whack job in real like that I have to wonder if her writing is any different.

Interview with the Vampire is a very well made film, though. Does the book compare?

I haven't see the film. I must say that she is one ofmy favourite authors of all time though, and I have only read 3 of her books.

@Knerd -- Lol ... she really is, isn't she? I've only seen her on T.V. once, when she did something with the Real World when they were in New Orleans, but that did leave an impression.

I really have no idea if she's a good author or not. I've thumbed through her books a couple of times, but I *hate* books written in the first person -- they have to be about perfect to be readable, like uh, Moby Dick -- and that's what her vampire novels seem to be in.

I still have to pick up my next fiction book.

Well, New Orleans is where she lives, or lived, it's been a few years since I've seen anything about her, and she had the cast of the Real World over to her house for dinner one episode when they were in New Orleans. I forget what happened though, I mean outside of the obvious. Maybe I can find it on YouTube or something.

Here it is, sort of:

Reading two books at the same time. One at home and one at work. That seems to be the only way I can get through the books I need to. I have a majorly long to-read list.

Iirain, that's great. =D

For my new book to read I started Wild Horse Annie and the Last of the Mustangs. It's sort of a biography, but centered around her accomplishments against animal cruelty and the mustang roundups of the 40's and 50's. I read about half of it last night and put it down at the point where she meets the author Maguerite Henry, which seemed like a good place to stop. Very enjoyable (though some parts of it are very sad, concerning animals) and I kind of gave myself an unofficial literature theme, after finishing Lily Nevada the day before yesterday. =D The theme being Nevada, not necessarily horsey things.

I also checked out The Good Humor Man, by looking at the description/reviews on the back, then when I opened it, it was in first person. ._. Also it was kind of set up as a parody of Farenheit 451, which is okay, but you know, not exactly original. So I returned that after reading the first chapter.

Guivre>> hmmm...I don't think I have ever returned a book after only reading it's first chapter :d the only one I've returned before I reached 50 pages was the really crappy book that Laurell wrote called "Death of a Dark Lord" I was soooo expecting better. It started stretching out into a taffy pull and then I just couldn't read it anymore because it was so so soooo boring.

@Kaidatiger -- Ooo, Tad Williams. =D

@LaVida -- a lot of my returning that book had to do with the fact that it was told in first person, which I never really enjoy. But there was just something I didn't like about the book. Like it was trying too hard to be clever, but wasn't.

I decided my next book would be The Greatest Dog Stories ever told. I'm not a big dog fan or anything, but a book of short stories is easy reading before bed.

Yes, welcome Kaokitty. =D

@LaVida -- looked Kushiel's Dart up on wiki, it does look clever, and complex, and 18+ for that matter. It does look like something I should read, at least to have one of that author under my belt ...

lol, as a warning, the whole book is like someone narratrating their past...although an extremely interesting past XD oh yea, and the first book has a bit too much information on...uh....DS/SM

and the wording's different from other books. It's like reading shakespear XD it took me 2 pages to figure out the first plot was about a brotheral, even with advanced warnings from everyone here XD seriously, "court of night-blooming flowers" helped, but the "night court" did not help AT ALL XD
