Good luck, Dmitri and Cedura! :)

Cedura, that's an impressive list! And I see a lot of books I've read or want to read, so I think we'll have a lot to talk about. :) Did you like Heroes of the Valley? I loved that book!!! I bought myself a copy not long after I read it, since I got it from the library.

What's your goal, Taiyo?

@ Iltu: My challenge doesn't end until June next year, but still...

As for the Bartemaeus Trilogy, I've got all three books. Sadly, my book collection now is rather paltry because of the fact that my mom would only let me bring along Harry Potter, though I did manage to sneak along Torchwood, Doctor Who, and the Star Trek 2009 novel. Mom was not happy. :XD

I WANT MY LIBRARY BACK!!!!! I'm not gonna have enough good reading material just from my college's library!

How often do you visit home? Maybe you can exchange books when you do. That's what I plan to do for college. :) Bring a few favorites and some I haven't read yet, trade out the ones I have read (that aren't my favorites) for other books. Plus one can always go to the library or buy new books.
I planned this in advance because I know there's no way all my books would fit in a dorm room.

I'd be able to fit my entire personal library in my dorm room, it's just that...I live six hours away from home now. And the campus library has a paltry selection of fantasy and sci-fi, and NO MANGA!!!!!! :illgetu:

I brought my whole library with me. It is three layers deep and three layers high on each shelf... takes up 11 shelves on 3 standard sized book cases. My husband is always grumbling about what I spend on books. I probably spend 200 a month on new books. I got 2 shleves of nothing but books Ive never read.

My university lacks pleasure reading too... But we have 3 different Manga classes at my university, so there is a decent manga section. By decent I mean 4 shelves up in the stacks... not great, but better than nothing. I just go to the book store though >.<

Well... I never sell back books to the used book places... I hoard them up. And some I collect. I've got 1 book from back in 1892 and another 1930. The 1930 book I have has measurements for a field and a list of prices for seeds, peas cotton and potatoes. Its really neat. I have an old copy of Arabian Nights that doesnt even have a date, but it has gold accented color plates in it. But when I moved from my moms and came to live with my husband, I told him he had to make room for my books. I did leave one book case at my moms with some of my kids books on it, Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie, those kinds, for my 8 year old sister to read on. She loves the little house books haha. When she is older, I will probably move that book case here too. Ive been "collecting" books for about 16 years.

@ Car: I live six hours away from home. That'll create a problem, as I don't have a car.

@ cedura: 1892? Where'd you get ahold of that?

I finished reading The First Men on the Moon minutes before watching the Mark Gatiss adaptation on BBC Four. Both were rather enjoyable. Imperial!

Since I can only read books about early 20th century professors now I'm reading The Poison Belt. It finally reappeared in the library so I pounced on it. Not literally, mind, it would scare the little old ladies.

I purposely brought books I hadn't read before when I started university hoping that having limited reading material would encourage me to get them read. Of course I've ended up buying more and exchanging books every time I visit home during the holidays. My poor teeny bookcase is full.

Has anyone tried the e-book thing. I recently got an application for my desktop that'll let me read them through barnes and noble... but I don't like that it charges you for what they say costs nothing. Makes me wanna kick someone.

I tried a friends Kindle... didnt like it at all. Felt weird not turning pages, feeling the paper. I also didnt like the backlight, made my contacts dry after a good 3 hours or so of reading, felt like I was going cross eyed. I will stick to paper books for now. But I have friends who love them because of how portable they are.

Kindles suck, just saying. My mom has one, and it's just terrible. xD My Aluratek, however, is pretty sweet. ^^ I still prefer paper novels, buuut... My shelves are too damn full, and you can get tons of the 'classics' free as PDFs or EPUBs for the E-Readers. I do love my free.

I'm just not a fan of e-readers! I know they're great for the environment and they conserve space, but I just love my books. ;a;
