I created an account on Goodreads just yesterday and have been updating my books a little bit just now. Way too lazy to review books though. Have only done one review and it was an extremely short one at that. Seems more like an abridged version of an abridged review.
I did a no-no today. Went to the local Goodwill store and found abut 30 Star Trek books, all $2 and under. Bought all but one, because I already had one. Then went to Book World (local bookstore--duh), and found two books out of the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind that I didn't have, volume three of Tegami Bachi, and a couple boooks for mom. Oh, a couple of Avatar bookmarks. In all, we spent about $100, all on books; $35 at Goodwill, and $65 at Book World.
Well, I bought Hardball by Chris Matthews yesterday, seeing as I've got to read it for AP Government. I've heard from other students from the liberal, conservative, and moderate parts of the spectrum, and they've without fail said it's relatively unbiased and at least pretty interesting. It should be an alright read!
Also I bought a very nice bookmark with Lucius and Draco Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Fenrir Greyback and Voldemort o it, so that's a bit awesome.
Crimson and Knerd- I went ahead and added you guys if that's quite alright! :) Although Knerd, I forgot to attach a message that it's me to my friend request to you. ;a; So, uh, the Maggie with the picture of my goofy golden retriever, that's me!
I find that cool as well. I love how tidy it looks!
Here's my Goodreads, just for good measure to anyone else who might want to be friends on there: Maggie (Rommykins) - (416 books)
I need to write some reviews at some point. :gonk:
Taiyo- You could do a mini challenge between August and January! :D That would be fun, I betcha.
Ooooh, awesome! So you got around 30 books for $35 at Goodwill? THAT'S AMAZIIIIING
I am very jealous!
Hello everyone! I would love to participate in this wonderful event!I just need to figure out how to find this post again...If anyone could help with that?

Best of luck to you! I'm sure you can make it. :D Any plans of what to read yet?
Mine's 75 books. I read more than a hundred books in 2009, and only fifty last year, so I thought I'd do a medium for this year.
Well I'm going to be re-reading a lot of the books in my room, and trust me there's more then enough to fulfill the list right there! And there's a few other books in the house that I haven't read yet.Plus I have to re-read the Wheel of Time series, which has thousands of pages! And there are thirteen or more books in the series I think,I'm not quite sure.
@Roxxxy-What can I say?I couldn't resist challenging myself.I wonder if I'll be able to reach my goal..
@TaiyoTsuki-Don't worry about it!I read pretty much the same stuff actually, except I barely ever read manga.Which of the Holmes books have you read? You just reminded me I need to read a few of them.Good thing I'm going to the library today!I'll probably be picking up some Agatha Christie books too.

Yep, that is perfectly fine. I was quite happy yesterday when I got home from work. I was all, oh snap I got my first friend on Goodreads. :o Also yes, you totally need to do some reviews. One of the first things I did was look to see if you had done any reviews which I could read.
I've been set 34 books over 12 weeks, so if I can actually read them all, I'll be well on my way to meeting your challenge!
I've got ten 18th century classics (including Wuthering Heights, Heart of Darkness, and The Portrait of a Lady), 14 early 20th century American novels (Hemingway, Faulkner, Fitzgerald, Steinbeck, Cather...), and nine contemporary American books.
I'm starting off with What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt. It's so well written.
Hey everybody! I haven't been here in too long. I've been on a reading binge ^^; Hehe... I finished all five Percy Jackson books over Christmas! :P And now I'm gonna finish up Winters Heart finally.
Looks like there are some new faces in here! Hey Everyone I haven't met before! Welcome!
Pearl - 34 books in 12 weeks?! That'll be impressive
@ Car'a'Carn - I doubt it'll happen though, I think it would be foolish to rush through all of them. I'll probably read half of them, maybe more, depending on how long they are, how difficult they are, and how much time I have.
What I Loved is a very beautiful book. I've done nothing today except read it, which always makes you feel a bit strange in the real world, when a book consumes you like that.
It's a novel of high emotions.
----------
I want to get to 175 pages before bed, half, so I can finish it tomorrow, and then start on Emma.
Yaaaay! Finished The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner (GREAT book) and now have my first book of the year. Just started Hardball by Chris Matthews, so we'll see how that goes! It's boring so far. He's not a great story teller when it comes to the anecdotes...
Papillon- Oh, the Wheel of Time books! Yet ANOTHER series I would really like to read.
Also, yay for Agatha Christie! I love And Then There Were None.
Crimson- I'm going to try to write reviews for most of the books I read as I add them. The ones I'm adding because I just read them, anyway, I don't trust myself to write an accurate review of books I haven't read just recently!
Pearl- Sounds like an excellent mix of books! I wish you luck. :)
hey! im a newbie to site only day 2.. but im ao glad i found this post.. im going to try and read 50 books this year.. if you have any suggestion please send them my way.. i would welcome them with open arms... i mostly now read vamp novels..
@ Strawberry - Ghostwritten by David Mitchell is beautifully textured, very involving, exquisitely written, and has an incredibly unique plot. It has about twenty POVs.
