My library got some new books in although most of them seem to be paperback copies of books they had already. Except they got a quite a lot of books on the Vintage imprint for the Classics section... including Frankenstein. :gonk:
(it's cool, I'm just raiding all their Huxley and Isherwood instead)

Thanks East. I love your colour combination, I don't think I've ever seen it before.

@Eastriel: I tried to read Wuthering Height last summer but I got super confused. It has flashbacks and stuff so I was really lost.

@Kat: My bookshelf is full of paperbacks with only two hardcovers. Lol I kind of feel bad for the hardcover books because they are like loners on my bookshelf. >.<

I've never really gotten into Classical Literature myself. I can never find a good rhythm and I end up taking forever to read it and end up losing interest.

lol Melody. I feel kind of bad for the paper backs on my bookshelf :lol: I have a slight obsession with hard back books.

@Kat:Awww thankyou!

@Sweet Wind; Yeah I found that at frist but you can find certain copies (like the one I have, which have chapter summaries in the back so if you don;t understna d a little bit it will explain it to you. I also find that watching a tv adaptation helps make a book make sense and though some might say that detracts from the fun of reading the novel I have to say the version I watched (which was amazing) differs quite a bit from the actual book. ^^

I don't even think I updated my list this year. I'm keeping track in a notebook though.

Also, Wuthering Heights is awesome, but it gets a little bit hard to follow...

If you want them to count, they absolutely can. :yes:

This challenge is more about setting personal goals for yourself. If you want to push yourself to read magazines, then no one here has the right to tell you not to!

Thank-you!
Oh gosh, I don't know. I liked it as a whole! I guess the third part was the most boring, but it had so much character development to make up for that! And the fourth part was really sad, but it was also a huge part of what made the book so beautiful. I honestly can't pick, it was all really good. :lol: Did you have a favorite book out of it?

I have to for work. I'm selling Avon now so I have to go through it so I know what people are talking about when they want something. Otherwise I'm like "bwa..huh?" and then they think I don't know anything about anything at all.

But i'd honestly like to read more I think I may be able to actually start reading manga once my new roommate moves in. She has a ton.

Ah, it's always great when someone you know will lend you the books you want to read. (x
It's terrible when you lend a book out and never get it back... but yeah. Borrowing is generally of the good.

I don't like borrowing books, I get way too nervous about ruining them! ;a;
I don't mind lending my own books, though. Speaking of not getting them back, however... I need to ask a friend if she's finished with my Tough Guide to Fantasyland!

I've finished the fifth book in the Keys to the Kingdom books! I'm gonna check out the last two--Superior Saturday and Lord Sunday--for reading over spring break, along with the Doctor Who book I've got checked out. Plus my personal library. Of course, thanks to sporradic (at best) internet, I won't be updating my list often over the next week. Just giving you a bit of a heads-up.

I really don't like borrowing books, because I'm always nervous that they will get hurt or that I will forget to give them back.

I don't mind lending my books and manga, but if you screw up once, I never lend to you again. Its too hard for me to afford my books, especially my manga, for people to treat them carelessly. :no:

Riskia- I know right? ;a;

Kitami- Same here. Augh, it was happy years and sad tears and nostalgic tears in spurts and then basically non-stop for the last several hours of reading.

@ Kitami: If I'm not mistaken that's the chapter when Harry went to his hometown, Godric's Hollow. Every time I read the part of that chapter when Harry say his parents' graves, and then the messages everyone sent him on that memorial in front of the Potter home.

I'm re-reading the HP books as we speak. Started the fifth one. I hate the ending...Always will no matter what JK says. It started out as kid's books and it should have stayed that way.

See, I feel the other way - They started off as children's books, but the writing style evolved along with the characters. You're going to treat an 11 year old differently than a 17 year old, so why not mirror that maturity in the story itself?

True. As the characters aged, then the story should have matured as well.

But look at it this way,you can't exactly let an eleven year old read trough the whole series because they wouldn't understand it. They'd actually be scared of some parts! And she could still have had it evolve just in a more kid friendly way. There's tons of books like that,Narnia series,Amos Daragon Porteure de Masques,Chrestomanci series ,Song of the Lioness Quartet starts when she's eleven and ends when she's a woman and is kid friendly throughout. It can be done,so I'm disappointed she didn't even try.

I never saw it as a childrens series. I got into it a bit late but I thought it was labeled "young adult."
Heh, I guess I just never really thought about it before.
