I'm on the third book of the series I've been reading now. So far it seems better than the second one at least. Here's to hoping it ends on a high note.

What series are you reading Zig? I think I missed it haha
Though the way you just posed that series it reminds me of Inkheart LOL I loveeed the first book, the second book was mediocre, and the third book I just hated. It got better at parts, but then just went downhill. I actually didn't end up finishing it and have been avoiding that series on my bookshelf like the plague T_T;

I'm reading the Hybrid Chronicles.

That's how the Hunger Games were for me. I liked the first book but it all went downhill from there...

Ooh! That sounds like an interesting series! -just googled it-
I can see how it might not go as anticipated though - it has one of those "can go any way" sort of plots based on Goodreads' description!

Oh no - don't say that!! I adore the movies to pieces and have been excited to read the books! I haven't bought them yet, as I chose to buy the Divergent book set when Four came out - but they're my next book purchase! I don't want to be disappointed with them! :(

It's pretty interesting. Not bad but it could have been better in areas. Really hoping the ending comes through.

I haven't read the Divergent series yet. The movies made it look kind of dumb to be honest.

The Hunger Game movies were actually much better than the books I felt. But that last movie was terrible though. I'm not going to lie though, the third book was terrible too so it's hard to improve on something that wasn't that great to begin with. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority though. Everyone else seemed to love the series through and through.

Oh really? I loved the movie! I haven't watched the second one, but I loved the first one - I'm waiting to read the books until after the movies are finished though since I watched the movie first :3 I thought it was a really cool take that kind of mixed Hunger Games with House of Night (at least in my opinion) so I was drawn to it because I love those two series :3

Aw really? I can't agree with that one! I loved the last movie! I'm dying for the second half! I cried so much during that movie.
Some of it seemed a little forced or dry though, but when you take it into context you can kind of understand it as well. At least that's how I justified it XD;

I will say it was a rather bit predictable and at some points you're just like "Really?", especially in comparison to the other two movies, but I'm also someone who ships Peeta so.. that could be why I had those feelings.

Finished the series. The end was okay but it just seemed like the characters were kind of stupid and got out of situations too easily. I mean seriously, how many times can the same person get themselves into dangerous situations by making stupid choices and then managing to escape every time only to decide to do another dangerous thing despite how badly it went the last time??? Like seriously???

Hahaha! Reminds me a bit of the Vampire Academy books and the House of Night books - they did the same thing!!
I think it might be a pretty standard plot theme because the anime I've been watching recently have done the same thing :3
Definitely gets old though if it's happening a lot right after each other!

Based on the book list in your signature I vote The Hobbit! Then again, I'm a bit biased because I'm OBSESSED with that entire series of books. <3

I started a new book today--To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Hann. So far it's pretty good. A very high school-esque book so far but sometimes that's kind of nice.

I agree - sometimes it's nice to take a break and read one of those off-the-boat books that's easy going - I'm currently doing that with the Blue Bloods series - the writing of Melissa de la Cruz is pretty juvenile and unrefined, but it's still fun to read and I really enjoy the series - the content is really good, it's just her style that is pretty basic. :3 They're perfect for when you're just wanting easy-going reading though! And this series is a great mix of history, vampires, angels, and religious tendencies, but it doesn't have a HUGE religious basis, which is good for me - it's just where some of the stories are concerned in terms of the angel aspect. :3

This book was good but the ending was more like the beginning or something else! Gar, now I can't wait to read the sequel! >.<

The other book I'm almost done reading though is absolutely terrible. It'll probably be one of the few times I ever actually give a book one star. O. o

O.o Oh no... that's not good when it's only 1 star..At least the other book was good though! :D Silver lining at least? Lol! But yeah - definitely not good on the one star - it must be darn awful if it's that low! I've only given a book close to that low a few times and I didn't even finish them at that point! I applaud you for at least getting through it!!

I hate giving up on books in the middle so I usually just kind of plow through. This one was trying to be like the Matrix I guess but it just pretty much failed. >.<

I do too because I stay curious about how it finishes, but sometimes I just can't get through it. T_T;
I'm the same with movies and tv shows if they're really bad!

Oh yikes - yeah - I can see that being a failure lol! You just can't compare and be put on par with something like that - though I guess it's a cool concept to rolemodel after, but still - just kind of setting yourself up for disaster on that one :3

If it's a movie I'll just leave it on and stop paying attention. I don't watch TV much but yeah, I'd just give that up too if it wasn't going well. The only thing I usually stick it out with is books oddly enough.

Yeah... I won't go into details in case someone decides they want to read it but yeahh, not my cup of tea.

I finally finished Blue Bloods! Probably going to read Masquerade next - then I'll finally be back to where it's new and uncharted territory that I haven't read yet! I MAY have read Revelations, but I'm not 100% sure until I start it - I know I haven't read The Van Alen Legacy and onwards though. I'm thinking I might go off list next though and read something like the Jungle Books or The Secret Garden - perhaps even Grimm's Fairy Tales. Something different from the norm.

I'm listening to the audiobook of The Magicians, by Lev Grossman, and I am really liking it so far. I got through part one before I had to take a break 'cause I was busy, but I'm excited to start it again soon.

Oh funny - at first I thought you were reading the series by Michael Scott and I got excited, but then I saw the name Lev Grossman and got confused! I googled it and it sounds like an interesting book though. It looks like it's going to be adapted into a TV series through Syfy so I'll have to keep a look-out for that!

Oh, I didn't know it was going to be made into a show, but that's cool. From what I've read so far, it seems like it would make a great show.

I didn't know much about the book, but several friends recommended it to me all at once, so I had to check it out.

Yup! According to Wikipedia anyways! I didn't actually search for a release date though so I'm not sure when it's anticipated - but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out - I watch TV shows on that channel so I should see promos for it

I've honestly never heard about it before, but I could have and assumed it was the Michael Scott series (which is a really great series by the way) lol I'm definitely adding it to a list though of things to check out - especially if I like the TV show - then I'll probably go after the book series!

I'm not really liking this French book I'm reading actually. I feel like it's the sort of thing I would have read in French Literature. Very like...artistic I guess is the only way I can think of to describe it.

Started Masquerade tonight and couldn't put it down - read the entire thing in a matter of a few hours! I think I'm going to read Revelations next as I'm really on an addiction role, and I think I own the entire series anyways, so I'm just going to roll with it until I don't want to read it the series anymore LOL I had originally planned to alternate it with the House of Night series because both series are very long and I wanted to break them up, but I don't really feel like going back to that series just yet. I also wanted to go off plan and read some of the classics I have in my collection, but I'm just too addicted to the Blue Bloods series at the moment - and hey, I'm used to my plans never working out. They rarely actually go as planned!

@Zig: Oh really? What book are you reading? And I assume you mean artistic to be a bad thing, but I'm not quite sure I'm understanding the meaning haha Once I know the title I'll look it up and see if I can understand where it might be coming from that way!

L’Été à Lulaby by Rémi Giordano

It's trying to be artistic but it's also quite vulgar and disturbing at the same time.

Here's a translated synopsis:

Quote:
Lola and Leo. Two friends. They live lulaby, a village like many others, no great interest to young people, who think only leave to reach the capital. Leo loves Lola, but not like Lola loves. Like all girls high school, Lola is in love with Adam. But Leo was perfect for Lola, but it is not quite beautiful. Leo also like Adam, who irresistibly attracted. Lola was chosen by Adam, she feels important, already dreaming of her marriage with him. The love, the discovery of sexuality, homosexuality, rejection ... The Summer in lulaby, genuine map of adolescence and its storms, explores the emotions and intense feelings of those who have left childhood their torments, their inner conflicts, all this upheaval that will leave many traces in the adult they will become.
It sounds like an interesting young adult sort of book like boy falls in love with girl but girl loves someone else, etc. but the book doesn't follow in a direct storyline. It starts with Lola's marriage, then skips back to childhood, just little bits and pieces here and there. It's confusing because the book keeps saying that Lulaby doesn't exist and it does these word plays where it will remove letters and change them around. And it does this sort of stream of consciousness sort of writing of the characters thoughts where it will just repeat the same things over and over, like the boy who everyone thinks is gay it'll say things like "fat, gay, ugly, fat, disgusting, gay fat..." and it'll just keep going. And then the girl and how she obsesses over how her father calls her "his girl" but in a sort of implied sexual way. It talks a lot about sex, about looking at people's sex organs and comparing themselves and touching themselves and yeah... And it shows all the terrible qualities in each person. It's quite disturbing to be honest.
