I'm steadily making my way through A Feast for Crows.
I also picked up a ton of new books from my birthday. :3 I have too many books to read on my shelves already, but I can't help getting more!

I've been waging a war with myself over whether to watch the new season. I've been on the edge of my mental seat with the way Dance With Dragons ended, and plotting ways to motivate Mr. Martin to get a move-on with Winds.

I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but I was excited about the premier. I started with the show though, and then started reading the books later, so I have no idea what it coming.

I'd read up to third book before the show started broadcasting. It was fun to watch when I managed to divorce myself from the knowledge of what had been changed, switched, etc. At this point, it's just about the curiosity over how they'll portray the books cinematically. I can't really enjoy the show for itself. I can enjoy it for the artistic aspects, and I can enjoy various actors for their abilities.

I usually prefer to read the book first too. But I really wanted to watch the show, and I decided to start there for once. I knew the show would be different from the books, and that I would be annoyed about it all the time if I read the books first. (I was like that with Harry Potter, I could never get square with the movies.) I figured I would watch the show first and enjoy it for it's own sake, and the books would still be interesting to read because of the differences.

I've never seen the show, mostly because I don't have cable .

It used to be the case that you could only get HBO through a cable subscription, but they finally (finally!) made a streaming service that doesn't require cable. You can just subscribe to it like Netflix now. My sister and I were SO excited about it. I think we were buying episodes on Amazon before that?

Haha, fair enough! It's not for everyone, just like the books aren't everyone's cup of tea either.

Yeah. I had a hard time getting through the first few books, to be honest. I really like the characters, world, and story, but the writing can be tedious. Sometimes I really like the details that Martin adds (all the foods at a feast, for example), and they serve a purpose, but it's still a lot of densely pack info that can slow down the action. Pros and cons. *shrug*
I probably wouldn't have read the books if I didn't love the show. Now that I'm on book 4 and deep into the show though, I'm pretty into it, and I'm glad to have it.

My theory is that the author will end the series when he's killed all the named characters.

Hahahaha! That would be kinda hilarious. At the point I'm at the books, he's added in new point-of-view characters to replace all the one's he's killed...so that could potentially go on forever. XD

I just finished my book on my lunch break. It was sooo good I ended up speed reading to finish it! The only problem now is that I won't have anything to read for the ride home. ^^;

I can't seem to read in the car, as boring as car rides can be. I get horribly motion sick >>;;
Upside is the library's reading program has started. Time to read in overdrive.

It really isn't. When they drive like that it tends to make me feel dizzy.
I started a Star Wars book today. It's called "Star Wars: The Approaching Storm". It isn't really that good so far but I only started it so maybe it will get better.

There was a book I'd picked up a while ago that seemed like it'd have fallen into my niche--fantasy and mythology--but I couldn't get all that interested in it.

It's kind of funny, I've read a few books lately that didn't seem like they were the sort of thing I would like but I ended up actually liking them.
