Hey there, Chisagi!
I've added your name to the front page.

As soon as we get the search function back, I'll update the link so that it goes straight to your post. Right now, it's only going to bring you to this page.

I finished One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest last night.
Unfortunately, I sort of knew how it would end. A looonnnng time ago, someone mentioned something about the end of it and it stuck with me. No character names, just one event. But it was a pivotal event that basically was the end of the book. And, knowing that, I could see where the book was going, and I could guess what would happen. And I was right. It was still a great book though!
WHITE TEXT SPOILER:
Someone had mentioned to me, years ago, something in the book about someone being smothered with a pillow at the end. A main character. When McMurphy was acting up and getting the shock treatments, I figured that either the shock treatments would seriously fuck him up, or they'd just go ahead and give him a lobotomy, and that would do it. I also figured it would the Chief who did it. Aaaand I was right.

Next up is "Company" by Max Barry. If it's anything like Syrup, I won't be able to put it down!

I have finally updated my list.
I'm sure I'm missing some though so I will have to look around again to see if I'm missing any.

I updated mine as well. Only then did I realize I've reading a book a day this week. xD Oh well term papers can wait. I actually had to order books last night, my "to read'" pile was getting dangerously low.

I was so lazy yesterday that I didn't even read .__.
And today it's really cold!! I've had 3 cups of tea already, I can't find my slippers and I have a cold(keep sneezing and my nose is runny)so I'm really not comfy enough to read anything D: this sucks. At least I can sit down and have some halloween fun with my laptop *gets more tea and a box of napkins* Ugh.

I know what you mean Dream. It seems like I'm always buying books but never have anything to read. Need to go to the book store again.

I just realized I forgot to add The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events Book 1) by Lemony Snicket to the list. I saw it in my college's library and decided to read it. It took me 30 minutes to read but that was good since I should have been studying for a test then anyways.

@Chisagi: It's cold here too! But in the best way possible; the skies are blue-grey swept, the wind is cool and playful, and the trees are all mingling red, greens, gold and browns.

@Lilith: I loved those books! I only read up to the Ersatz Elevator, though, so I suppose I ought to finish them at some point. :)

I read through the Carnivorous Carnival I think...I never did finish either...they all seemed to become repititious.

@Aislin- That's funny I read up to the same one as you.

One of these days when I have some extra time I'm going to sit in the library and read them all.
They are really funny. I wish they would make another movie. The first one was great.

They do get a little bit repetitious. I think that the reason I stopped after the ersatz elevator was that the arbitrary switching of relative to relative was wearing thin. Nevertheless, they're very fun books-- and great especially when you're a bit younger.

@ Lilith: I adored the movie-- although I was upset at Olaf's use of the word "verisimilitude" therein. It was my favorite word, and I didn't want to share it with other moviegoers. :P

The same happened with "acquiesce" in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Because there are so many books I'm sure it starts repeating after awhile.
And while they might be for younger kids they still have a good story line and make a great light read for me.

I loved Count Olaf in the movie. Pure genius.

Exactly! Books for younger kids are often fun and playful.

I have a couple of piles in my room; at any given time, I'll be reading a book for school, a young adult book, a sci-fi book, and a book lent from my friends. I don't want to miss out on anything. :P

Carey was awesome in the film! It's one of my favorite performances from him, along with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I know and everyone has their favorite book they read as a kid and sometimes it is fun to read them again when your older.
I loved Carey in the movie too. It is one of his best movies.

Oh! I still have to get my hands on those books too, should be fun. I saw the movie some time ago and it seems fun. But then.. Carey is always fun.

When I was little I got my mum to read me books from Astrid Lindgren, over and over and over, I ADORED her books! >w<

I still can't find my slippers! It's quite warm in the room now but the floor is absolutely freezing.

I've tried, but I never succeed. I end up abandoning one of the books until I finish the other. xD

@ Lilith: My to read pile is actually an empty shelf on my last bookcase, and currently its half full.... yet I went out and bought 12 books. xD

Also I got up to the 5th book in the series of unfortunate events, mainly I wanted to read them before the movie but I came to love how simple and funny they were. I should hunker down in the library one day.

@Chisagi: I multi read a lot. Mostly when I'm waiting for a sequel I'll start reading another book but the moment the sequel comes out I'll start it (while still reading the "filler book xD ). Also some books are to big for me to bring to my classes or fit in my bag. Currently along with the all the books I'm reading I'm slowly working on reading the Chronicles or Narnia (I have the super large book) and the Complete Works of Hans Christen Anderson (also a large leather bound book). Being so big I can only read those at home.

Like yesterday I had started the third book of the Pellinor series (The Crow by Alison Croggon) but I left it at home when I went to my class. So I borrowed one of my teachers books and started it there (Eyes of the Dragon by Stephan King)and that means I can only read that book on Mondays and Fridays. T_T

If you think you can remember who's in which book and whats going on, I'm all for reading two books. but not late at night. I was once reading the third LoTR and one of the harry potter books, I woke up thinking Snape was the ruler of Isengard and the golden snitch was thrown in mount doom by moaning myrtle. @[email protected]

@Chisagi: I read three books at a time during the school year, and one to two books at a time during the summer... for a lot of the reasons that Dream mentioned, actually.

During the school-year, there's my school-obligated book and the one that is purse-sized and for enjoyment. There's also usually a third lent by a friend. At least one book must always be sci-fi/fantasy, and at least one should be serious/history/philosophy. :)

During the summer, I enjoy consuming one book at a time. On the odd occasion, however, I'll read two at once because of a summer assignment or because I'm reading a book with a friend.

I prefer reading one at a time, though.

@Dream_and_Die: That's wonderful! Myrtle would have loved the hobbits! I can see her flirting with Aragon, definitely... possibly even Sam.

Severus Snape, Headmaster of Isengard! :boogie:

I will cherish this for months to come.

Oh I forgot I read thee back in high school too! School book, conveniently sized book and book that I wanted to read but didn't fit in my purse. I don't have school novels anymore though, yet I still find it really hard to stay on only one book. I sometimes wish I had two head and two set of arms just to read more. xD Yes these are the things I wish for in the dead of night. :D
