Lol well normally I always have to look at my keyboard while typing but while I was replying to a thread a few minutes ago, I realised I wasn't even looking at the keyboard somehow. ._. I've been typing often for the past few years, so it should probably actually come natural to me, but whenever I tried I couldn't get it. It seems when I actually think about it, I can't do it, but it comes natural if I don't pay alot of attention to it. It's like my fingers work like little machines. ;o

Of course I still make alot of mistakes while typing without looking and it's slower to type than when I am watching my keyboard, but I'm practicing now. ;3 I want to be like my mom and be able to type as fast as the speed of light without having to look at my keyboard. I could type short stories so much faster that way lol.

Have you ever had the same experience?

I took a business course in Grade 9 that for 15 minutes of the class every day, we had to type. And ever since I have been able to type efficiently with a few mistakes.

Congrats! :)

Make sure that you work on your typing because it'll really help you out later in life. When I took a typing class, I found that it really helped me to just try new things right away and work out the problems as I went. For instance, I really struggled typing using all of my fingers. I was used to typing with just my index fingers. Fortunately, I listened to my teacher and I practiced using the correct technique. At first, I was so much slower and it was really frustrating, but over time, I found that I started to get better at it. When I could finally type correctly, I was overjoyed. Hehe, and now I can type super-fast.

The same thing happened later when I forced myself to stop looking at the keyboard. I was really frustrated because I kept missing the correct keys, especially the ones on the top and bottom rows. But you know... keep practicing and it's only a matter of time before you get it right! My friends that didn't practice are still typing the way they did in junior high.

Even if it's frustrating at first, I can't stress how much better you'll feel once you can type really well. Good luck mastering not looking at the keyboard!

Im typing this as we speak without even thinking, looking at the keyboard, and Im half asleep. Shows Ive been typing too much lol xD I blame my friends for making me get on the computer so much, and then getting me addicted to it.

When I got to type on the keyboard without looking at it, I was like "YES! YES YES YES YES!" Because I was horrible at english back then, so finally being able to do that was like a huge step toward learning english better, or something like that.

Congrats by the way : )

The next step in your process which I have already achieved is having both of your hands fall off. Did I mention I have detachable hands?

Well I've used the computer since almost they first came out. Like when I was 5, my grandmother got her first computer and of course, it was awesome. So she bought me some Reader Rabbit games to learn from. They were awesomely fun and I loved them. I got really smart at an early age from them. =D We still have them. <3~ offtopic, I know.

But once I got older, around 8, 9 years old, I used the computer more and got so experienced with typing things that I'd completely taught myself where every key was so I just..know. I make a few mistakes but that's about it. Everyone at school, when we had keyboarding, was all..HOSHIT U TYPE FAST!!!!! and I was like. ...yeah...and I don't look at the keys like you do. xD

When I was younger and in a computer class, they put covers over our fingers so that we couldn't see the keyboard. I always had to peek though, and kept getting in trouble for it.

Now I can type without looking at the keyboard, but not because of a lame cover. It just happens with practice.

I do that most of the time. School practically trained me for this. We did all sorts of typing games in computer classes and stuff.
I find it easiest to type when I'm just doing improvising. When it comes to having to re-type something, I generally have a harder time typing it without many mistakes along the way... Of course, right now it is difficult because my 't' key is not working properly and I can't be as quick as usual.

Well, to be honest I took a computer class in 7th grade that taught us mainly how to type...so it's been like, six years I know how to type without lookin' at the keyboard.

I actually have a GWPM of 160...and do have a record of it on paper.

I don't type the normal way. I make some mistakes, but I can easily type without looking at the keyboard. I type pretty fast, too.

I can type without looking at my keyboard, sometimes I can even type without looking at my monitor (I make mistakes but if my fingers are lined up correctly, not too many.)

Yay you!!!!
i was like that i guess
in 2004, I started to try not to lok to the keyboard
maybe its because my brain and my fingers have started to cooperate and managed to memorise the location of each alphabet? :o

my friends are always like
"omg. you aren't looking at the keyboard. o___o"
and then they're amazed at how fast i type. xD
personally, i don't think i type that fast.
and if i do, it just shows that all i do
is stay home on the computer all day.

I can do so occasionally- like right now, I'm not looking at the keyboard at all. Though I'm making several mistakes as I type. ^^;; I've done this before, I imagine, but I don't realize it when I do. I really need to start paying more attention to these kinds of things. ^^;; Now that I've realized that I can do it, I think I'm going to try typing without looking from now on, and see how well it goes. :)

I like seeing my words typed out on the monitor, so i often don't look down. I've been typing for a while now, and so my fingers find the keys by themselves.
I typed this whole post whithout looking down, and realised i can do more than i previously thought. xD
