A friend of mine used to send text messages to me with his computer, and I could reply back. I don't have contact with him any more, so I can't ask.
I know there are many sites that offer you to SEND text messages, but there is usually no way to get a reply.
Does anyone have a clue where I may find one?

My friend's phone has an AIM program in it...and I've talked to friends on AIM with text messaging through that, but I'm not sure in this case...

It's quite legit. :D
Hope I helped.
Oh, and also, of course, the Service Provider must be known, so hopefully you can at least get a small idea of who their provider is.

Yahoo Mail allows you to send and receive text messages. I find it quicker and more reliable than AIM's service. There were delays with AIM, but Yahoo's pretty much instantaneous.
You have to use the new Yahoo Mail though to contact a cell phone user.
...if that's the right kind of texting you mean. xD

I'll look into this one. <3 It'll probably work.
I think the one Facade mentioned is unable to get a reply.
I'll send the reward out if any of them work for me. Thank you all!

Some sites like Meebo.com and https://imo.im/index.html let you instant message and send text messages. (however you should apply to the original sites first.) I use Yahoo! Mail to do mine. I hope you find the answer. ^_^.

To send text messages to someone from your computer, you can use AIM {AOL Instant Messenger} and put whoevers phone number where the screenname would usualy go, but include a + infront!
For example... +13694214312, and they will receive a message saying it's from your screen name.
I'm pretty sure you have to go through this process first before they can reply, and they'll just have to reply from the text you sent them!
I know for a fact this works as it's how I usually do it myself! :3

Yeah, I don't think you can reply to it.
But I was confused - the way you worded it, I thought you were looking for one that didn't reply. o_O'
Either way, though, I linked you one to one that doesn't reply, so yeah. xD

Your friend might have to have AIM on their cellphone, or at least be able to recieve text messages.

Mm. He has a phone, but no credit. Would that matter/does he need to be on a contract?
Maybe it's different in the UK.

No credit? He doesn't even have any minutes?
I think you can only have the AIM feature when you have a contract, i'm not too sure though ><
Yeah, im in the US, so it could be different. :\

XD He's got a py as you go phone so...
I was just testing it out 'cause I don't have a phone, and it'd be a good way to text people if I ever needed to.
But yeah, might be abit different in the UK or he might need AIM on his phone or something XD;
