So, there is this project.
People spread the message, "You are beautiful" everywhere in various ways. It can be anything from a sticker or a small piece of paper to a large mural or sign.



It's been around for a few years, and you can view some works here. There is also a livejournal community that used to be frequently updated with people's photos, but it seems like the mod hasn't been approving posts. You can still view pictures of the project there, though.



I think this is such a wonderful project. Everyone needs to hear that they are beautiful, and I love making people smile with those simple words.

Has anyone participated in this, and if so, how did you spread the message?
I leave it on scraps of paper and write it on restaurant plates with leftover food. I want to do something big one day though! C:

I know, there are lots of little artworks in San Francisco, so I hope to see them sometime.

It's not really the sort of message I would send out though. there's more to life and to people then looks.

That's a cool project. I know a lot of places have different alternatives on that. There's a club that leaves books around for new owners to randomly find. And there are all kinds of taggers. Our city, Cincinnati, doesn't really have anything like that, as far as I know. The only thing that comes close in terms of tagging things is the painted pigs we have all over the place. Generally near companies where someone bought them after the project was over.

@ Burnt ~ It doesn't necessarily mean you're beautiful on the outside. It's probably something for people to understand that there's something beautiful about everyone on the inside. :]

I never heard of the project before, but it would be something I would do. I did a project that was supposed to make part of Detroit look more beautiful before where different artists made large wooden angels and painted them then hung them up at different businesses around that part of the city.

I didn’t take pictures, although I wish I had. Some of the angels are still hanging up from years ago though. I was surprised that mine was still up since I didn’t think I coated it all too well t withstand the weather.

I love this idea! It's even better than free hugs because it reaches out to the people who are afraid to get hugs from random strangers. (And their probably right to be scared >.<)

I tried googling it but didn't find anything. That's cool that some of the angels have been up for years. Maybe someday I can just go to Detroit and see the ones still standing. P: I haven't been to that city yet.

I've seen people giving out free hugs and I hugged them. 8D I wouldn't want to be the one giving out hugs though. I'm sure there would be a lot of creeps who would try and grope me or something, lmao.

Heh, I know what you mean. There was this old lady giving out free hugs at my town's Oktoberfest, so I said "aw what the heck!" and gave her one. But then she wouldn't let go! I think that lady hugged me for five straight minutes. :shock:

I was at a restaurant with my friends photographing food for my photography class, and one of the hosts was super friendly and even encouraged me to take photos of the chefs and food on the counter. He asked for a hug and a picture with me as we were leaving, and he hugged me for... ever. I felt like I was being squeezed to death. P:

HERE IS A SUPER SNEAKY AND VERY WEIRDish DUMB PLAN.

Take 5O bajillion tiny 3"x3" pieces of paper, write, "You are beautiful." on them.
Sneak into the public library...or just walk in when they're open. CX Then place them in as many books possible. :lol:

I think that's a wonderful idea. I may just leave little notes around my campus like that. This place has been going through some problems lately. One student left after getting harassed and threatened because he was gay last semester. Another student committed suicide just the other week for unknown reasons.

I think this who place needs needs a bit of cheering about by remembering how wonder they and everyone is here.
