Hi there yeah, I just need someone to read through my script. It's the trail of George Milton so someone who's read or seen a movie version of Of Mice And Men would understand it most. I need to finnish editing it which won't take too long. Just need someone to read through it to make sure it makes sense and to give any adicve on bits I can make better. It's a script for a speaking and listening exam.

So can anyone read through it for me?

Is there anyone around who's good at calculus? I know I should probably know this off by heart, or have it in my notes, but I can't seem to find it so I derived it myself. The only thing I know that I know is that the derivation for e^x is e^x, so I've been trying to build on that.

Anyway:

f(x) = e^-x
f`(x) = -e^-x

Is that right?

And can I apply the same idea (moving the multiplier of the variable to the base but keeping the exponent the same, unlike with terms that don't use e) over other variations of e^x? Like:

f(x) = e^-10x

I missed the day where we covered the derivations of natural logs (and related concepts), so I'm sure it's easy... if you know how to do it in the first place. x_o

Edit: Um...

f`(x) = -10e^-10x

If that's it, I think I've got it.

I wouldn't mind reading through it at all. :D

I'm curious as to how much I am allowed to use this before you get annoyed and kick me out. Am I allowed to ask questions almost every night?

Also, who would I go to with questions about Language (English)? I'm reading classics in school, and am not understanding most of what is being said. I usually just use Spark Notes, but there are some homework questions that I can't find anywhere.

Also also, how exactly does this work? Do I post the questions here, or do I pm the tutor for that subject? What if I'm not sure who to ask, or if they'll be online sometime before it's due?

Yes, basically for the first question there was a
"* 1" that they didn't say
Generally, the easiest way to remember this is you take the number that the e is raised to, take the derivative of that number, and shove it in front of the e^.... part, leaving the ... part alone.

Example: e^(-2x+1)x
Answer: (-2x+1) * e^x

Anything in that big blobby part that's carroted you just take the derivative of..and shove to the left of the e^_____

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I hadn't checked on this in a while.

Nopers, not that I know of?...we don't kick anyone out ever. XD If they do I'll just open my own and psssh, no limits on there. :)

I don't mind at all about questions on anything English, though that's more BelleMorte's field. I can help as much as you'd like; you can either post here or PM us or anything of that sort. If you post here, any available tutor that is able to will take the question and probably post the answer here as well as PM you the answer so anyone having a similar question will be able to skim it also. :D

If it's a class you have questions about frequently, well for myself, I don't mind giving you my email and you can send me a tell there--it shows up on my cell phone so I can just drop by a compy lab while I'm on campus. I don't know what the other tutors prefer, but I'm sure most of em don't mind emails either.

I usually get back to questions within about 5 hours if it's through email (some days I have lab and class back to back).

Sounds easy right. Well when i only have 3 courses i know and 2 i dont and i need to do 3 a day and then my bf only has consumer math and he can graduate so he has to do 6 a day. Its not so easy its time consuming and the math is super hard.

I was wondering if you would help me to learn it or give me the answers or something but would you be willing to help me in algebra 2 and the consumer math?

I can give you one example for i remember it from my lessons but i cant give any more then that until i call her sometime tomorrow

The example is 36y2-1 i think its a one but i know the first half is correct. Well i know the answer is 6 + 1 but i dont get how they get the answer.

She showed me one answer so i could figure it out but i dont.

Also do you charge for your help?

What do you mean by that though? o.O Is it that you're looking for the square root of that? Even if it is the square root, the square root of 36y2-1 isn't 6+1 o_o'
I'm confuzzled. Can you give me the directions and the problem exactly? Just type it out as it is, remember to use parenthesis so we can get the order of operations correct? Maybe it's different from what I'm thinking.

Would anyone be able to help me with a little bit of Business and Economics Stats? It's QMM 240, a second year college course...or is that too high?

Wow. What a really nice forum. I wish I had seen this a couple of weeks ago, although I didn't see anything for accounting up there, so I guess it wouldn't have mattered. >.<

Uhh, I'm attempting to do a Geometry problem, and I'm completely stuck. I get what I'm supposed to do, but I have absolutely no idea how to find the base... I must be missing some sort of information that I'm supposed to infer...
Or maybe I'm just being ridiculous.

Here's the problem:
Quote:
In the figure below, AD is the perpendicular bisector of BC, AE = 9, and DE = 3.
What is the ratio of the area of triangle ABC to the area of triangle BCE?
(Hint: Area of triangle ABC = 1/2 (AD)(BC) and Area of triangle BCE = 1/2 (DE)(BC)
If anyone can give me a push in the right direction, it would be appreciated.

Can you by any chance doodle out the figure using MS paint or something? Hard to know what the figure looks like. If you can just doodle it and label the points I think I could solve it. :D

Bella; I don't know what kind of figure I can draw for you that is better than the one I provided. I mean, that's the one they gave me. XD

EDIT: My teacher helped me figure it out. >_<

It's not a question as in homework, it's a question about the tutoring and what you guys can do.

I'm being really vague, because this is a public forum, and I don't know any of you.

I'm not sure who to PM. Is there one person that is in charge of this?

I guess you can ask us questions. Like that of Math or English and stuff. And then we could try to answer it to the best of our ability.

You need to look at the list of tutors on who to PM regarding your question because that will depend on the subject area you're after.

To Thread Owner: I think for Math(Algebra) in particular we should have symbols like ^ for exponents. I don't know for derivatives >.>

As I said before, it's not a question as in "What is 1 + 1". It's more of a question along the lines of whether you will be able to help me. It's not about a subject. Well, I guess it's about all of the subjects.

I guess overall I'd be the one who is starting this thread? o.O?

Sure, feel free to ask whatever question? ^_^

Overall we can probably cover anything that's about Sophomore year of college and under, for sure. Exception to that may be really specialized classes like international business, medical terminology, etc. (Though actually, I think ScarletStrath can help with medical terminology.)

Well how can we know if we can help if there is no question? Also, are you looking for the tutoring of WHOLE subjects like a teaching program?
