I had no idea what avatar sites were at all so to me, joining menewsha was like a new experience altogether... yes, I am an avatar site virgin XD My first impression was really good because I always liked dressing things up and the variety we could choose from was immense! I didn't have much trouble with a lot of things because I had a personal guru of some sort in the form of iro who helped me out a lot ^^

Everyone seemed really extremely friendly. It shocked me at first since usually newbies are treated like dirt in other websites but this place always seemed to welcome new members and encouraged more posting. The mods are helpful and other members are very generous, even with their charities!

I hope everyone here gets a good first impression of the site as well because it really is fun to hang out here :)

My first thoughts of Menewsha was: MUST GET CUTE PIXELS FOR MY DRESS-UP DOLLY!!! xD
And so, I went off to gain itemz. And received them. :D And all rejoiced.

I fell in love with the variety of free options for your avi. All different kinds of hair, skin, and even ears. I'm from Gaia (still an active user) and there they charge you for all these things. They charge you for everything and you mom, it's ridiculous! I love the color white for skin and hair. On Gaia, White body dye (last I checked) was up in the 1.3 millions. And here it's free!!

What I didn't like about Mene as a no0b was no starter sets, but that was a minor inconvenience. Another was the gold earning system, I thought it was awful... it's really hard for me to earn gold. I'm more of a lurker... Have a lot to say but not the patience to write it... so... yeah. But I'm getting better at it. And another thing... how strict the posting rules are, while I know they serve a purpose, it was so hard! I had no idea what was going on! I felt awful when a mod would warn me, it would almost make me cry, because I didn't mean to do it. But the mods are really nice, thankfully.

The one thing that hit me the most was how nice people were, I was astonished to how warmly I was recieved. I'm so grateful to everyone for being so nice.

Expensive! That was my first thought.
But then as i made an avatar i was surprised by all the free options for you avatar, the great hair and eyes. And i think the avatars are really cute.

Gaia has poisoned people's minds and perceptions of what they should get from avatar sites
: / If you can't get a whole heap of items and gold after being on a site for one hour, then we're doing it all wrong!

To start out, I must say, I just made this account, but my other account which is to become my mule has been a member for a little over a year.

I joined the site in January of last year. I loved the look of the avatars but couldn't seem to get comfortable with the site. By nature I am shy and have trouble jumping into conversations. I made my intro post and then just sort of dwindled away.

On Thursday night I was going through my various bookmarks and I saw this, and was like oh! So I clicked it. I saw that an event was about to start and being familiar with avatar sites I knew if I was ever going to find my niche on this site an event would certainly help me to do that. I lurked a few days, waited for the event to begin and have since decided I love it here. I love the avatars and pixels. The site art is amazing, and the event has run so smoothly, what's not to love?

My first thought was: "Whee, the avatars are cute!"
And later it was: "Whee, they have all of the items for outfits I want."
And now it's: "Whee, for some reason posting is a lot easier here then it is in other places."

So I'm happy. My actual first impression after looking around was that it was an actual community that had involvement from users and moderators. It was nice looking around and seeing mods actually helping people and chatting, like normal human beings.

Well, at first I thought it was more like Gaia and it was hard to raise golds and read the rules too but Menewsha seems so fun with the games. It's really a challenge. :)

When I first joined..it was quite a while ago actually but I was new to the whole avi site forum thing. I had been on Gaia and Zantarni and came to Mene...but then, I found Solia and that site was so nice in the beginning that I just thought I would stay there. I wanted to limit my spending habits so I jumped ship and went to Solia. It was exciting to see that I would be able to have all the items I would want and not struggle to get them..but, eh, well...i'm back, and a bit sad that I left the site when I did. But i'm very happy here now and happy that my sweetiepie talked me into coming back.

I thought gold would be hard to earn gold when I first joined Menewsha. I did my first post today and saw that it was under five gold and I thought it was going to take me forever to get an outfit! But it's not as bad as I thought if I just keep posting every now and then. :D And I'm starting to get used to the Avi settings here, it's a little different then my usual avatar sites. But I think I'll like it here all right and I plan on sticking around for a while!

My first thoughts were "Omg, I can get gold for playing Tetris?!" :love:

Jokes aside, I thought the pixelling was very well done and gold was really hard to earn.
Actually for me it was like experiencing the old days of Gaia.
With a few small differences of course but being a newbie again feels nice.

My first thoughts were pretty much these, in this order: "Oh, the avi's are cute!""Hey, they use a forum system I'm familiar with!""Hey, an event! WITH PILLOWS OMGMUSTJOINNOW!" xD

And, similar to Thyme, I decided that an event would at least half-force me into interacting a bit. Bit of a lurker myself o3o and the posting-only gold reward's been...difficult?....getting used to, but I'm doing it! And the games help :heart:

I thought it was strange and that it seemed really strict. I was super freaked out at doing something wrong, though that's thankfully lessened as I've gotten used to going on smaller sites.

I remember liking the avatars, which was the reason that I joined. They're so cute!

I think it is like gaia, except it is easier to make money there...
But this is somewhat fun :).

As a former gaia member my thoughts were that the forums were a bit slow. I loved that I didn't see any spammers/1337 speakers (and still don't). I loved that there was space invaders.

I pretty much thought it was awesome. Though, at first, the slower forums did put me off. I love that you earn gold by what you write and that the amount doesn't go down each time you post.

I has great items, and there aren't starter packs. Everyone starts the same. I know the first time I joined gaia we got rags. The next time I came back (a few years later) the starter packs were... not starter packs. They were NICE. D=
No starter pack equals no fuss. I hope it stays that way here.

I also like that the hairstyles are nice and you don't have to pay for them. =]

there were so many items
and i was hangin' around only with hair on my avatar ^^'
it was so difficult at first to get gold...
but then i guess i just found out about the games
and.. i got what i wanted!

honestly, i was still a gaiafag back then so my first thought was "OMFG no games?! how do i get gold?!" yeahhh.... THAT BAD!
then i learned that posting is the key. i became more literate, smarter and more patient.
i didnt have the patience to post for gold back then so i kept going back to gaia where everything for me was soooo easy to get. but i learned my lesson and boy i love it here now.
also, i thought mene was really peaceful, new, fresh, untouched. i was a bit excited that time for being one of the first, if you know what i mean. XD

My first thoughts were "Looks pretty good...oh snap! Elven ears=instant join".
You can't beat the classic elven ears.

This is my first avitar site...So I am still learning the ropes. I like that gold can be earned by using intellect...I do wish there were more games. I also was a bit frustrated at the sometimes not so nice "YOU BROKE A RULE" messages I got. As a newbie, that is going to happen, even if you read the rules, because some don't make sense to newbies! I am looking forward to my first "event" tho, a friend on this site told me they are quite amusing!

It may not feel nice to be notified that you've broken rules, but at least the first few times it happens it doesn't penalize you in a significant way. :/ If the message itself was written in a way that you felt was not-so-nice, I'm certain it wasn't intentional on the part of the staff member who wrote it. The staff is asked to be "professional" in their tone, so it may come off as unfriendly, when it isn't meant to be.

I really like this board and the avatars are simply amazing. This is probably one of the first boards that I actually liked because of the avatars. Like the other boards and gaia online even though if it was one of the first I didnt like their avatars. These are much more prettier and I love the whole board and the shops. Keep up the good work, the people are really nice here too. :)
