I thought "Why, this looks like a tiny Gaia...". But also, I was surprised by the few ways you could earn gold. Although I am impressed with the avatars.

At first I thought it wasn't as good as Gaia. (Now I think it's better than Gaia!!)

Well my very first thoughts of menewsha was that of confusion. I read all the rules and still felt a little confused, but after I met some really lovely people and made friends I became more confident and now my thoughts on menewsha are that this is really awesome and I am glad I signed up!

::laugh:: Hope you've changed your mind, TechnoSushi. As we're certainly not a rip-off of Gaia. :)

I didn't really know what was going on. there wasn't much of a tutorial, and it was really hard to get money, and the fact that you start out nekkid and you didn't have any "starter cloths" was a little off putting, but so far its nice. People are nice, and literate, so there is a plus...
the cloths are all so expensive though! I think I'll be stuck with a stupid Noobish lookin avi for a long time, which is a little annoying for me.

Alissa, Kokihi, Menewsha is not a rip off of Gaia. In fact, Gaia wasn't even the first avatar site. And so technically, isn't everything a rip off of something else? Regardless, I think that once you get around the forums a bit more and get to know Menewsha, you'll find it's quite a bit different from Gaia. Get to know the site before passing judgment. Plus, if you need clothes immediately, you can make up to 500g per day playing games. :D

Also, I'd recommend taking a look at the rules, as you'll find that double posting is not allowed. I'm going to merge the double posts you both made. Instead of double posting, please try to edit your previous post. The forums don't move quickly enough here to warrant posting twice in a row. Thank you! :D

My first thoughts were "Wow, the art is prettier that Gaia's and I like the hair options."

Well, this is still technically my first day but at first I thought that this place would be just like the other "anime forums" out there. Like the first poster stated, I have noticed that posters are quite literate for the most part. I'll admit, I was drawn in by the intricate avatars available, but indeed the lack of starter gear and the pace of earning gold is a bit tedious. But at least the conversation options and games allow for enjoyment in the process :P

Hmm, I wasn't sure if it would be okay to name drop other forums but based off previous posts, yea I did think it would be a rip off of gaia. But I after being on that forum for several years, the changes it has undergone have gotten tiresome and I only go on to acquire daily chance items and check my account simply out of routine. The options and harder work to earn things here seem interesting...so far

I'm always fascinated by all these sweeping statements that people make saying we're a rip-off of Gaia, what exactly do you guys mean by that?

Because we're a forum with avatars we're copying Gaia? That's a kind of weird thing to think. We're just the same genre as them and they're bigger, that's all.

It's like saying BMW are a rip-off of Ford, or Wendy's is a rip-off of Burger King...see? Just doesn't make any kind of sense, but you say it about us. Odd!

The first thing I thought was "FALSE ADVERTISING. I SEE PIXEL ART. NOT ANIME ART."

Which is half true. Lol. The avatars are pixel art, but the shop keepers and logos and such are anime style. I don't mind though. I love pixel art. Though these are so pixely, that sometimes it makes me squint and I get a tiny headache.

My expectations...are unrealistic. About everything. xD

I fell in love with the fact that I could have a white skinned avatar right off the back, as well as the fact that I could change my hair and eyes whenever I wanted.

Honestly, I thought it was an adorable little forum site that reminded me a LOT of freewebs.

But I was extremely intimidated by it for some odd reason.

I actually really like it here - my first day and I was thinking, "hey - this place has got everything under control. Omg, what happened to those horrid spammers that took over Gaia?"

I don't really find it that hard to get gold - I guess of course I have always been one to have thought-out post that end up somewhat lengthy. (I was also on Gaia before getting gold was so darn easy - when you started out with peasant rags and things in the shops weren't so cheap. When you had to work for that virtual currency D<)

I can't say I enjoyed being naked, but I worked on buying my first item so now I'll always treasure it ^^

I was intimidated. The only thing anyone ever told me about it was something along the lines of "Grammar Nazis".

Well at first I was really bummed. It seemed like earning gold would be hard work, since being literate and having bigger paragraphs the way to score big. I compared Menewsha to Gaia basically, and just went back over there after um... hmm.... an hour? Sorry Menewsha! But now here I am months later, and having acquired the skills to actually see this site in all it's glorious potential, how can I not love it?! Yeah, it would be nice if there were more people, but at least it's cozy! ;)

I'm still on Gaia though, and If anyone wants to catch up there, my username for Gaia Online is iKawaiiChu.

Pretty much mine were the same as yours: harder to earn gold on this site than Gaia.

But the Avatar system seems to have greater variety here at Mene, and the harder to earn gold makes it more interesting for me.

I thought it was a nice quiet place, Kinda slow on getting gold, but that was fine with me, The people were more friendly than some other places and the topics where ones that made you think about your answers. like they really wanted to know.

the art for the events is what I love the most!

my first thought was that this was the same thing as Gaia but it clearly isn't. i acutally like Mene a lot more then Gaia, but that's a whole different forum :)
also, for some reason Mene reminds me of proboards, i'm not sure why though. i was hooked on this one proboard my friend showed me once; then it died. so tragic T.T

I too was at first put off by the hard earning currency.
Though I rather have a soft thrown on gaia.
^^"
I enjoy it here because I can actually have a lovely rp going and the people who I rp with don't mind my slow replies. Plus the literacy is much higher!

As some people have said, my first thoughts were, "Maybe it's like Gaia." Well, the avatars are prettier, in my opinion, but earning gold is a lot harder. >.< And there's a limit, but then again it's difficult to earn 500 gold in one day, unless I spam the games. I also like the fact that you can change your gender and hairstyle without any problems. Plus the items are a lot cheaper in the stores.
