I also have grown a liking to ham when I used to hate it...
I'm sure there is more, but I can't think of them right now XD

I grew up with a lot of Chinese influences, speech, thoughts, codes, etc.
But whenever we went to a Chinese restaurant, I still wouldn't drink tea. I just went XP My mom always yelled at me, saying, someday some of my friends would ask if I like Chinese tea and I would have to say 'no' which makes me seem even more American than Chinese.
Whatever mom.
But one day, while my mom was complimenting my cousin for drinking tea, while I wasn't, I noticed she asked the waitress for sugar.
O.O
I didn't know I could ask for sugar and not seem "American spoiled kid" in my parents' eyes. They actually were happy that I would drink tea as long as there was sugar!
So now I always drink tea at Chinese restaurants, and my parents don't have to be embarrassed all the time, having to ask for "two glasses of cold water for the children". I still don't see the big deal with the tradition of drinking tea, though. How does it make me less Chinese by not drinking it??

I'm like you. I used to hate tea but now I love it! I mean before I thought tea was just water and some small flavour added to it nd still taste like water. But now I like it for some reason. I really like Korean Ginseng Tea. I drink mostly everyday. >.<

I used to inhale huge amounts of sugar and bounce off the walls... XD
Though now, I feel sick a the thought. Aging does strange things to ye!
Personally, I've always liked tea, but more for the comforting hot water factor than the actual taste!

Changes in taste have something to do with the renewing of tastebuds. I believe that occurs every 7 years, or so.
I can think of more things that I dislike now but liked when I was younger rather than the other way around. These days, I have no stomach for instant mashed potatoes, but I used to eat them 3 or more times a week growing up. I also used to like mandarin oranges when I was a kid, but I started hating them somewhere around the age of 12-14. At one point, I loved potatoes au gratin until I got sick on them one evening.
Most of the things that I like now but disliked when I was younger are vegetables. I think most of my dislike for them was due to they way they were prepared. I like broccoli, squash, and cabbage which I hated when I was younger. I also like chicken and fish a lot more now than I did when I was younger.
I imagine there are plenty of other things out there, but I can't think of them now. Preparation and freshness can greatly impact the taste of things as well.

When I was a kid I hated Broccoli and cheese. Now I love the stuff! I eat it all the time.
When I was a kid I loved meat now if i just smell it, it would make me vomit. I can't stand it. If I have to eat meat i have to have a lot of things mixed with it so i don't taste it.

heh, yeah. Same here. ^ ^
I've thought that tea was plain nasty until I drank coffee. That was at Starbucks a few years ago. I was like: MOM WHAT THE [i]FUCK[/i} was that!? And she calmly replied: coffee. Starbucks is great, it's just that whatever the heck she ordered was not the regular. o-o
Tea's actually healthier too. Like...red tea and green tea. Also black tea...I think that's what it was called. It's called "oolong tea" in Chinese. Well anyhoo, tea has herbal properties that's supposed to help you. ^ ^
I didn't know how great tea was until I went to Taiwan actually. My great granma gave me some, and it was delicious. And relaxing. ;

I love tea too. I thought this would be a topic on the new MacDonald's sweet tea and thank god it's not. even though I do like that tea as well. my favorite kind of tea is green tea. you should try that one.
have you noticed your tastes changing as you grow older?
all the time, they constantly change. as soon as you get sick and throw something up what ever you threw up, you never want to eat again and your body changes to that.
what are some of those things you used to dislike, but like now?
I used to hate eating vegis, and I mean all vegis. mostly salads. now I can't get enough of them. broccoli, carrots, corn, spinach, and many more. I love them all.
And the opposite, is there anything that you liked before and don't like anymore?
I used to love fish, I can't eat that any more. just doesn't sound good.
