A horrible act of discrimination has affected a large group of innocent individuals in the US and has been around for many years. They have been killed unjustly in many "rescue" centers around the country, not even given the chance to prove themselves. Anyone found associating with these individuals is seen as a radicalist and given the same stigma that they give to the individual.
No, I'm not over dramatizing this one bit. Pit Bulls and any variation of the bread have been persecuted for years, not just in the US (though it seems to be the worst) but world wide.
According to the Dog Bread Info Center these dogs are, and I quote:
Quote:

By no means are these dogs people-haters or people-eaters. Their natural aggressive tendencies are toward other dogs and animals, not people. However if they are properly socialized they will not even be aggressive with them. These are truly quality companions for quality owners only! The American Pit Bull Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults.

These dogs are no more dangerous then any other bread. They have simply been chosen by illegal parties because of there look and body built.
Pits, despite the evidence against it, are still being persecuted though. Two points to be sited happened in Illinois over the last few months.
1) A woman was found dead and mutilated in her home. The first official word put out, before any autopsy was made, was that her 2 Pits had attacked her and mauled her to death without provocation. The dogs were then put down before the autopsy was even finished.
It was only recently (several months after the fact) released that the dogs did no, in fact, kill there owner. The woman had OD'ed and been dead for several days, succumbing to decomp before the dogs ever touched her. This is a NORMAL thing for any dog to do.
2) A woman and her friend were living together with a Pit. The Pit slept with them on the bed, as many dogs and owners sleep. When the insurance company found out that the pair were sleeping with a Pit Bull in the same room as them, the insurance company promptly dropped there coverage. The woman spend a good deal of time looking before she finally found someone to cover her and even then, she had to pay $200 more per month then the last company.
Both of these cases had no basis but had crippling consequences.
So? Thoughts?[/url]

Sorry InfinitysDaughter, but a thread on this subject already exists:
banning certain dogs?
Please remember to check back a few pages before creating a new topic.
I'll be locking this up now, since it is a repeat.
