So I got my grades the other day. Same as last quarter, all As except for one B in my algebra class. I noticed on my report card that my algebra teacher left a note saying, "More improvement needed." Now, here I was thinking I did pretty well considering most of the people in my class didn't even have C's.

My parents are always saying I need to improve improve improve! I feel dirt with the way they treat me, and I feel like I'll never be good enough for them :( I get good grades, and stay on top of things, but they always treat me like I'm a piece of garbage.

My grades always come out lower than what I want them to be, even though I work really hard  Which kinda sucks.

Last year, I was doing R.E. and we had a little progress test. From that tiny test, I was predicted to get an E (which is pretty bad), and my teacher put this grade on my report. My mum wasn't too impressed, but in the final exam I got an A. That showed my teacher to re-think her grade predictions ;D

The title of the topic, it's always what I tell myself. XD

Mm, I'm not really stressed out about school, though. My grades suck, I'm the type of person that gets A's to C's, as long as I pass.

YEESSS, this happens to me ALL THE TIME!

I'm in french immersion, which is like AP french. Anyways, I NEVER get 80s in French, it's usually 60s. But this year I came out recently with a 78! A 78! That's so good for me! Now I've had this teacher for two years, and she still thinks I can do better. I tried my hardest and got a 61, I fluked into that 78, I don't even know how she can think I can do better than that.

I don't get it. I know a lot of kids in my class are like future astronauts, but I'm not, and that's good for me in French class.

Good job on getting your score up, Tilly! Teachers are just ridiculous sometimes, it's okay.

...That is weird. But teacher sometimes say that when they think you can do more. I always get all As but I think I might drop to a B in Spanish.

Aren't all teachers like that? They want you to get better instead of thinking you've hit gold already. Half the time when they tell you you're doing great, you stop. If they tell you you aren't doing good enough, you start to push yourself to meet their "expectations".

Maybe you've already hit gold, they just want you to hit it bigger. Ever think of it that way? ^ ^

I've had teachers like that. Mostly art teachers. People at school always tell me my art rocks, but when I show my art teachers, they say I need "lots of work". If it wasn't for their harsh words, I wouldn't be where I was now.

I've seen many of my friends who draw like shit because they won't allow people to criticize their art, and they don't take it into thought. If you think you're already good enough and that someone should praise you more, most likely your improvement rate will go pretty slowly.

I think I would've been able to draw better if I'd met those awesome cold teachers earlier. I would've pushed myself more, and maybe finally win some respect. Just maybe. ;D

Just go up to the teacher and ask her what happened or what you might have done wrong. Some teachers do mark things wrong. ^_^. I remember my health teacher gave me a "D" and said that I needed to stop disturbing class. (when all I do in the class is do work and shut up since I have no friends in there.) At the end I got an "A," the grade I actually deserved. Just ask, there's always mistakes in teachers and grades.

@ +lieforrenn
I did do all I could though. I finished all of the extra credit she had to offer 'n such.
But I'll keep that in mind.

@ Takuto

Well I believe I deserve a B. It's just surprising to see 'needs more improvement' because last quarter she said nice things.

I got my brother to check my grammar on projects and he's like.. disgustingly good at french grammar, so I did much better. :3

I don't get it, she knows me, it's not like I'm just this random person. I think she guesses that because I read I'm smart..? That's what she said once, and I was like 'Yeahsurebye'

My grades through school were always crappy. I got A's in creative classes and C's-F's in everything else. :P My parents never made a big fuss about geting C's or B's instead of A's. They just cared that I passed. I did really bad in my first attempt at college, and I just decided to step away from school for awhile and just work out in the real world for awhile. After gaining that experience, I have enough motivation to get good grades on my own, for my own reasons. It's just VERY hard to get good grades when you're doing it to make other people happy.

When I have kids, I'm not going to push them to be perfect. It makes the kid grow up to be a perfectionist. And while attention to detail and getting things done well is very important, failing and making mistakes are another part of life. There's no reason to beat yourself up over failures, but just realize that you have to keep trying.

I just think that setting your own goals for things is really important. Like, "I want to get a 4.0 this semester" and then after you get it, go buy yourself a new outfit to treat yourself for doing it. n_n

My mom got pissed at me just because I got one B on my report card. It was a B+ too! D:
She said it was a horrible grade and I needed to work harder to improve my skills.
Of course I want to improve my grade, I wanted an A you know but obviously she doesn't understand that.
Sheesh.lol

Haha it bothers me when people assume that you're smart just because you read. x.x

my gym teacher gave me 62% because i didn't do one of the gymnastics things. i hate going upside down and i told her that, but noo. apparently every teenager can do every type of gymnastic, no matter what their fears/body type/etc. >_>

i passed all of the other assignments, too.

A 'B' is a great grade, truly something to be proud of. Maybe your teacher just feels that you have the potentional to push yourself a little harder, and get an 'A'.

Never compare yourself gradewise to anyone else, bad things come from this. If everyone else is slipping up, and you do to it's "ok" because you're not alone, but in reality, it's still just as bad, except now, you're not in the proper mind set.

Still, try to stay positive, and always do your best. If you feel you've done that, then there's no reason to feel bad.

maybe your teacher thinks you have more potential and you're not fullfilling that potential :? idk, like my sister and I have the same Bio teacher, except I'm in AP and she's in honors. I'm getting a B which he thinks is good, but my sister is getting an A- and he thinks she should be doing better....

I can see them giving you incentive for success.

But for a B? That's retarded.
Good job.

You know, not to brag or anything, but... I don't think I would find anyone who would say that I'm not smart. But my marks throughout high school and middle school sucked.

I coasted on my test scores - my test average in the last year of my High School Precalc course was 97%, but my assignment average was something like 20%, because I left so many of them unfinished.

So... I never had good marks on my report card. xD; And I always had notes... "has potential," "not putting enough effort into work," "looks bored in class," so on. I was actually screwed over by the education system (twice!) but that's another story.

Still, if you know you can do better, don't let yourself "settle" on anything. That's kind of a trap I fell into, and I really wish I had worked harder in school. It would have paid off.
