I didn't like it. I thought they made Edward shy and creepy. Sure he looks like Edward, but he sure as hell didn't act like him.
Ugh the whole movie was slow, and the character interaction was awkward.

I thought it was fantastic, primarily because the entire thing was hilarious. I went to see it with a large group of friends, and we were laughing the entire time.
I'm not sure they meant the movie to be comical, but hey.

I disliked it.
There was no aspect in there that made me love it.
Everything seemed so 2 dimensional. (I dont think i would have ever got it if I didn't read the books.)

But that's part of what made it so funny!
The reaction of the fangirls, also (a panoply of screams, and I mean screams at various points in the production) lifted the movie into an entertaining experience. Unintentional humor was a highlight for me.

Hm... I really enjoyed it. I thought they did a very very good job with the film. Sure, it wasn't exactly like the book, but there was no way that they could have made it exactly the same. I thought the actors did a very good job with their roles.
Okay, I thought it was fantastic. And it's good that they didn't go too in depth with the characters and stuff, because people who didn't read the books and didn't get a feel for the characters wouldn't have understood it.
They kept it simple, and it turned out great, in my opinion.
I'm so glad that they're making New Moon now!!! =) I really can't wait.
Also, I thought Rob was hilarious.
He was SO good. His facial expressions were so extreme. They made me giggle.
I liked that crazed look he kept getting. Y'know, when one eye was wide open and one is half squinted shut and he has his eyebrow all cocked up?

It was better than the books, the book's... in mine and several other's opinions are written VERY "elementary-school" like.
I will therefore, respect only the movies, never Stephanie Meyer.
Also the script WAS changed DRASTICALLY because the actors REFUSED to say some horribly stupid lines.
Thank god for that. (:
They also took great actor choices too... besides one... but I won't say who.

I will actually agree with you. (the movie definitely grew on me when I went home from watching it. *I probably didn't enjoy it as much the first time since it was a midnight showing.*) I already seen it three times. xD.
Although I would have loved to see the scene of Bella getting nauseous from seeing blood in school, it turned out pretty well since it kept the integrity of "Twilight" books. The only thing I didn't like about it was the undertone scenes. (Like Bella at the hospital was like 3mins and then the baseball "game" was like 10mins.) They seemed to make the major events so minuscule and unproportionate from the chapters in the book.
However, congrats on Twilight being first in the box office and I cannot wait for New Moon.

I'm going to go see the movie this weekend (during matinee time of course) and hopefully it does live up to some expectations. I've read the saga, and I am a fan... but then again, books don't always exactly end up being followed precisely like books.

I just saw the movie...I also did read the book but I thought the movie...honestly was horrible. The crew spared absolutely no expense on special effects. Edward was WAY too socially akward. Bella was really harsh, and there was pretty much zero character development. I am going to stick to the books...maybe if the movies get better I'll watch but this first one was a huge disappointment.

Okay, so I just saw the film.
I've never read the books or really understood the craze, but I agreed to go in order to cheer up a friend.
My conclusion?
Edward is a creepy stalker with bipolar disorder.
I can completely understand why some people would enjoy, but it just doesn't fit my tastes. I think I'll have to stick with my own books from now on.

I saw Twilight twice, and Edward did seem creepy, and much to awkward, because in the books, they described him as Old World suave, and he walks into school with Bella in these old 80's style goofy-looking glasses. Jasper, in the movie, the WHOLE time, l might add looks like he needs to take a poop. BTW do not go see it a second time, it is boring, extremely boring, i felt like they took too long on some parts. But overall, not that disappointing, the books were translated as well as could be.

Yes! Yes he is!
Salient question # 2: how does one medicate a vampire? Surely nothing could be metabolized properly?
In addition to being mentally unstable, Edward seems to be a late bloomer all around.

I've read the first and the second books in the series and thought they were okay. Nothing truly spectacular but it was interesting enough.
The movie was hilarious though. I know that wasn't the aim of the film but I just couldn't stop laughing. When Edward [Robert] and Bella [Kristen] were on screen together, they were just so AWKWARD! I couldn't help but laugh at how they just never seemed comfortable together.
And the scene at the baseball field was the best part! The hissing just made my sides hurt. I was trying so hard not to laugh like a loon in the theater.

^ Yes, the baseball scene was the only part that I really enjoyed! It was very cute the way they decided to put it together.

Well after the revealing trailers that pretty much recapped the movie but eliminated all the boring, I could see how it would be!

i watched twilight but i didnt bother read the book...'cause its...modern!
anyway...the movie was not as bad as i thought it would be...its pretty good but a freind of mine told me about all the details mentioned in the book and to tell you the truth...i expected a better movie than this!
The running, tree climbing and swinging from atree to another was so fake!
Robert sounds better with the british accent than with the american and to be honest...he sounded as if someone is pushing the words out of him behind!
The part where the venom was spreading through bella's body...the screaming...i thought she was about to give birth or something! and i still dont get why the cullens can play baseball only if there's a storm???
all in all...it was ok!

The way I understood it, they hit the baseball so hard that it sounds like thunder. So they need a real storm in order to cover the loud cracks.

That's correct. Also, when they clash into each other in the field like Edward and Emmett did, they also make really loud cracks because they're supposed to be moving so fast that they collide and create further cracks. The thunderstorm is there to cover the fact that they're playing.

The movie was dreadful. In fact, the only positive thing I have to say is that the scouting team chose beautiful locations, not that they were properly filmed, but they were lovely.
The acting was terrible. While Pattinson was charming and intense in Harry Potter, he lost all good qualities in this movie. The first dozen times he spoke, I genuinely wondered if the character was developmentally delayed. His American accent is dreadful. When emoting, Mr. Pattinson finds it necessary to purse his lips and cock up one eyebrow “blue-steel”-style. The effect is one that I find both confusing and a little frightening.
The female lead managed to be incredibly wooden and melodramatic. It was amazing to be stiff and lackluster, while overplaying the emotions. I was genuinely intrigued.
The screenplay was awful. Not a single character was interesting or possessed depth. The dialogue was jolting and lacked reality. Not that the books were terribly well-written, but I expected more.
The editing would literally make you nauseous. The cuts were horribly jump and often quite disconcerting. And the inclusion of so many slow pans made even the most astounding visuals mundane.
“Twilight” has a “cheese-power” to match a Bruce Campbell movie. One scene portrays Edward playing the piano in a large open room with sunlight filtering in a single window. Dust motes float in the air and the clichéd scene of the century is born.
The special effects were stupendously bad. Just very, very bad. Apparently when you watch vampires move, you are on an acid trip or watching the 6 million dollar man. The special effects include “tracking” every vampire speed movement. The scenes when Edward is jumping about or carrying Bella are stunningly shoddy. He’s on a treadmill or something, it’s awful.
Overall, watch it. If you, like me, love to dissect truly terrible movies, then it’s quite enjoyable. Otherwise skip “Twilight” and hope full-dark comes soon. Hopefully the night will block out this cinematic disaster.
“Twilight” gets a “D-“.

I thought this movie was pretty good, even though at some parts the acting was less than stellar. The girl who plays Bella is so pretty.
