So. There isn't a lot of commotion anymore about girls arguing about whether to wear makeup or not... or how much to wear. I'm still interested in what girls all over think about makeup.
I used to have a friend that called me fake for wearing, at the time, nothing but eyeshadow.

I personally think Make-up is alright. I'm a light user. I just need a little to give myself color, otherwise I look dead.
What I wear is, in my opinion, light: I wear a light bit of power foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner on the bottom lid, mascara, and chap stick or lip gloss.
I don't put down girls who wear none, but I do feel a little weird when I see girls wearing absolutely TOO much!
I had a cousin that used to powder her face absolutely too much. She doesn't anymore, and that was years ago... Now she has a lot of skin problems on her face. It looks like someone poked her skin with some sort of sharp object and left bruises. I ask myself, Was it worth it?

Guys can get in on this discussion as well. I mean, what do guys prefer on a girl? No makeup, Light makeup, Tons of Makeup, or maybe it doesn't matter to you?

Discuss:
What's appropriate to wear?
Should Girls wear so much makeup?
Is it really necessary to wear makeup?
What kind of makeup DO you wear?
How do you feel about Makeup all together?

I don't think makeup's necessary, but if it makes some people feel more confident or happier, then that's a good thing.
I personally don't like the idea of make-up, as putting all that stuff on your skin can't be good. Still, to each their own.
My sister's friend used to wear so much make up that she looked quite scary. That was odd. She'd do huge round patches round her eyes in dark black. Then one day she came to the door and my dad opened it and said "Hello Panda" After that she toned it down a little.

Makeup is ok-ishh, I don't really like it personally. Sure, it gives you a bit of a sparkle when you're going out and you're dressed to impress. I can never be bothered to dress to impress, so naturally, I can never be bothered to wear makeup xD

I am really scared about anything touching or getting near to my eyes. I can just about manage mascara and eyeliner, when I can be bothered to put it on. I didn't use to be able to though >.>;;

Generally, I think make-up is an expensive waste of time. It may sound harsh, but thats my honest opinion ^_^;; Seriously, why would you want to by a tub of slap-on for like £10 just because it was made in a factory and tested on animals owned by "Rimmel" or "Barry-M" or "Max Factor"? Girls can look just as drop-dead-gorgeous and worth a million dollars without makeup :)

Oh, I'm sorry dragoness129. Is it on the front page? I suppose they'll lock this one up. I truly am sorry. I'll try to find my way there, then.

i wear lots of eye make up. but it suits me :3 it look very ungirl-ish without it^^
what i do is to apply nude eyeshadow all over my whole lid til under my brow. that makes the makeup stick where i want it to XD then i use white eyeshadow on my crease and black eyeshadow over it, so i kinda have something like a fake-crease. then i just use some eyeliner and mascara. i hardly ever need any powder or foundation and i seldomly use lip stick.

that as reference pic, in case you wonder what it looks like x3 ignore what i painted onto it XD

in general i'm a huge fan of makeup if it's done well i don't like the badly done, smeary, slutty stuff some do. i think if you want to apply make up and look good with it, you need practice. and the amount of makeup that suits you depends on how much you can pull off XD
and yeah.. some people look gorgeous without make up :O

I hate when people go all out wearing plasterings of makeup. I think it makes them look similar to clowns. *Shudder* But for me, I hardly wear makeup, today was the first in a long time, and when I do, its only a light powder and eyeshadow, liner and mascara. Thats it.

I personally dislike makeup. All makeup = ewwww.

For me, putting on makeup is the same as saying "Sorry, I'm going to hide my face under a mask with makeup because I'm too ugly to be seen without it."

You know?
And it's so fake.
I'd rather see someone who doesn't look as pretty, than someone with makeup on their face.
^___^"

I only forgive the performers, who have to wear makeup or else look dead pale in the light.

I personally don't like a lot of makeup. The only things that I ever use is a bit of cover-up, not all over my face but only a dab on a pimple that might be really obvious, a little bit of powder to take of the shine, and chap stick because my lips get really chapped.

Even though I don't really like makeup I think it's okay to wear in moderation... Just not so much. Don't cake on the eyeshadow and foundation and everything else, and don't use colors that are waaay over the top. I think a more natural look is the best.

Way too much make up grosses me out. You should know that you're wearing too much when I can literally see the clumps of mascara on your eyelashes. [some girl in my school was like that... I couldn't look at her eyes xD] I think only people on stage, modeling, acting, etc. should wear a ton of make up.

There's nothing wrong with a little bit of make up. But it's also annoying when girls say that no one can see them without make up.

The only thing I use is a little eyeliner and chapstick.

Personally, all I ever wear is mascara on my top lashes, and maybe some concealer if I've got a big red zit, or if it's especially purple under my eyes that day.
I used to wear eyeliner, but I got a little tired of it. It would smudge sooo easily, so my eyes would look dirty and messy. Blech. I don't want to be constantly touching up and cleaning up my eyeliner. I just want to put it on in the morning, and then forget about it until I have to take it off that night.

As for other people, I hate when people wear thick foundations. If you're within three feet of them, it looks so bad and cakey. You're not seeing their skin, you're seeing their covergirl products.
It's fine if someone wants to use some coverup to cover a pimple scar or some under-eye circles, or if someone wants to use a little powder (like the mineral kind that doesn't fuck up your skin) to cover some blotchiness. But if it's just this cakey foundation? Yuck. Not pretty.

Eyeshadow is okay, if it's subtle, or you're sort of gothic. But you shouldn't be doing big night-time type eye shadows during the day. It's just too heavy for the day.

I'm not a big fan of lipstick, either. But some people can pull it off. I just don't personally use it. Lipsticks and lipglosses dry my lips out. So then they peel. And so then I've got these reddish pinkish layers of lipskin coming off, so now my color isn't even. Blech.

And why does everyone consider chapstick to be makeup?! >.< If it doesn't have a color to it, it's NOT makeup. It's a moisturizer. Do you count lotion or facial moisturizers to be makeup? No. So neither is plain chapstick.

I don't really consider it make up, but when I say I don't wear much make up, people always ask, "Don't you use chapstick?" or something like that. xD

I don't consider make-up necessary, but if you want to go for a look or soemthing then I guess you could use it. I think that the amount of make-up also corresponds to what you want to look like. Personally I don't where make-up unless it is a really special occasion, like a wedding.

@Cherry Flavored Antacid: I don't consider chapstick make-up, but I use it a lot or at least I'm supposed to XD.

I don't wear any make-up at all. I've just never found appeal in it, and I've been brought up not wearing make-up.

My friends would probably notice if I ever wear any, but personally, I don't think I need make-up. Isn't natural beauty the best? ;D

I've wondered if guys like girls with at least a little bit of make-up on though... my friend told me that's why I don't have a boyfriend, even though I'm not interested in one. She made it sound like make-up is essential.

It depends on your preference. I didn't let my daughter wear it until she was 13 and at first she wore way too much. Now she has toned it down some but she still doesn't want to go anywhere without it, I guess she gets that from me. I wear it all of the time because me hair and skin tone are so light, if I don't at least wear mascara and brow liner, it looks like I have none of either and I look at least 10 years older than I am and at my age, that's not good.

I really do not like make up because it looks really werid, like when people wear too much make up and you can see it from a mile away. make up covers up the flaws of someone, but it doesn't really help. =/

some people don't need make up at all.. but some people just look so much better with _some_ make up on. I hate when there's LOTS of make up.. D: it's okay for a party or something, but if you wear lots of make up every day.. it just looks tacky and your skin is bound to go bad from all that make up u_u

I use eye shadow and eye liner, sometimes a bit of foundation, sometimes a bit mascara too. :3
really depends if it's just a normal day at work or something special :3

I am so used to wearing make up. If I don't have any on then I feel so uncomfortable. I always have to have eye liner on. I love the stuff ^_^

In my opinion, make up is just another way to express yourself... kinda like Art. But at times it also represents insecurity and a wall; a wall which doesn't let other see who you really, or what you really look like. -_-; I guess there are negatives and positives when it comes to make-up. It irritates me when someone wears too much make-up. Sometimes there are limits, and sometimes wearing too much makes you too ugly. So yes, make-up can also work the opposite. Although I like how some wears their make-up because the colours they use matches with their skin, eyes, hair etc... I am not a heavy user, actually I rarely use make-up. It takes up too much of my time and I really have no talent of putting it on everyday. Just bluch, gloss and eyeliner thanks. :]
