You have till the counter of three to return that sock! One... Two... THREE!
I've heard this story about losing your socks to the Dryer, but I've never had it happen to me.
Has anyone lost their sock to a Dryer?
And any predictions on where they come from?

I doubt that it's the dryer that actually stole my sock away, with all the handling and stuff my clothes go through, I'm sure my socks were lost through other means. :lol:

It happened to me once and I freaked out. I looked all over the inside of the dryer and couldn't find it. Turns out I didn't even wash it. It was still in my room XD;

@ Dystopia: Yush indeed.
I found a sock hiding inside my pants once, and another one that somehow was dropped into the lint vent thing. XD
This topic amuses me. xD

Nope, my dryer doesn't eat socks. It just spits them out.
It seems like whenever you open the dryer, something immediately falls out. D: Then it's got tons of lint and stuff on it. D:
The only time my socks have ever been missing is if they got misplaced somewhere in my room. Before they got to the washing machine and dryer.

It merely depends if my dryer likes them or not. D: One time I was drying my clothes and I know I put like 4 pairs of socks in there. When it was all done I only ended up with 1 pair. So I was searching the inside and the outside of the dryer. Turns out that my socks ended up behind the dryer. It was very odd because I think something would happen if there was a hole that let out clothes during the drying process.
Even today I haven't figured that out. >O<

I've probably lost a sock or two to the dryer but mainly to my room or the garbage. because one will get a hole in it some how and I'll have to throw it away.

Not really... How do you loose a sock to the dryer anyway???
I have a few suspicions about Ms. Washer though... I've lost a few socks that were in her possession...

I had it happen a lot. I always end up losing a pair of socks through the dryer or in my room it seems like a week after I get them. That's one reason I hardly have any socks.

! Mr. Dryer can eat socks?! o.o
I always wondered why socks would go missing. I mean, I've looked in all other places I could think they've been dropped in or misplaced, but didn't realize the dryer could steal them too. XD;

This is exactly what I think happens:
You see, when you transfer your clothes, specifically socks into the dryer something extraordinary occurs.
There is actually this little base of Gnomes that live beneath our dryers. They are strangely addicted to socks. Especially wet ones. So before your dryer even begins, they hop up from their living space and grab all of your socks.
You see, they all live below the area of your dryer... There is this small opening at the bottom that we, using our human eyes cannot see. They have built massive tunnels leading down to their worlds.
Sometimes though, they cannot obtain ALL the socks we place into our dryers... Why? Because there are rules. It'd be too.. strange that ALL of mankind's socks disappear when using the dryer... so they can only take so many so many times a Gnome year.

I lose socks in the wash/dryer all the time though not early as bad as my sister-in-law. She can't wash a load of laundry without ending up with at least one odd sock, ever. It's crazy. I have no explanation for it though. I mean, I've checked all the clothes as I'm putting them in the wash and made sure everything went from washer to dryer and then dryer to basket and I still end up with mateless socks. It's just one of those unsolved mysteries of life I guess *shrugs* :?

I thought I lost one of my favorite socks before.
"Oh no! Not the fuzzy pink/green sock! Anything but the fuzzy pink/green sock! Sweet Jesus noooooo!"
I found it a few days later in the laundry room. It probably just got caught in one of the washers or dryers and someone found it an left it out on the counter. That happens a lot xD

This is an amusing topic. I haven't lost any to Mr. Dryer here but, when I was a kid, my mom's dryer had a veracious appetite, we lost socks all of the time. Mr. Trash can gets most of the socks around here because my husband and son wear holes in their socks so much.

I think this rumor or myth or whatcha ma call it comes from having clean socks come out in your laundry load with no other clean sock to match it to.
I think it really comes from the fact that people do not clearly put their socks together in a single load of laundry. They may stuff three, four, or even five loads into the hamper before they go to wash them, and when they pull one load out to do, something as small as a sock might go in the first load but it's partner will not be yanked up. Then what do you do with the clean sock with no match? You sit it in a pile of other mismatched socks by the dryer and try and match them up with each load.
But something as small as a sock might have been missed on the bathroom floor, kicked behind the toilet when you were showering. Or it might have fallen behind the laundry hamper or be on the laundry room floor or attached with static cling to the inside of a sweater or shirt. Those little suckers get just about anywhere!
But people put a load in, think they had matching socks, then take it out and fold it and go.. where is the matching sock???
That is what I think anyway, where the socks go is all because of their small size and misguided circumstance. ^__^

Hmm...I have heard stories like that but it never happened to me.
On the other hand, my brother lost his expensive sweater and I lost my black shirt when we dry it on the open air...xP
Maybe there's some magical fairies who like to snatch half-wet clothes when no one is looking? o.o
