Haha, how funny, my mom's side and dad's side is split like your family in Kaohsiung/Taipei too. XD And yeah, I can never seem to get used to the humidity. >.< I think during the winter it wasn't too bad though. This/last year, I had the chance to go over during winter break. The weather was nice, but colder than I expected at times. I was in San Francisco for a little bit, I liked it there. X3
Was there a reason for you to be moving to Taiwan (if you don't mind me asking)? o.o
|
My family moved to a different city because the high schools where we were living were terrible. P: Or more accurately, all the schools in that area were terrible, and the area itself was terrible. XD
The winter weather this year was okay. Yeah, it wasn't humid. :3 It is starting to turn humid again now though, and hopefully I move back before I start turning sticky every time I step outside, lol. What did you do in San Francisco? :)
My dad had to go to Beijing for a year on business in summer of 2006, so we decided to just travel while he was there. My mom and my brother ended up just staying in Taiwan. I moved to San Francisco on my own last summer for school, and I wanted to stay there doing independent study to finish high school, but after a few months my mom thought it was too expensive. So, now I'm back in Taiwan.
Dystopia's art is adorable, by the way. <33

Thanks, Sakura~ X3
And great job on the coloring~ I love the pose you picked. =D
Ahh, I see. Sorry to hear that though. >.<;
Yeah, the non-humidity didn't seem to last very long, but I think I stayed from the end of December through January for about two weeks. Closer to the day I was going back to the States, it felt like it was just starting to get humid again. *sigh* XD;
That's cool for you to go to San Francisco on your own though, I don't think I'd be able to do that! =O And I think you said before that you might be moving back to San Fran soon?
Mm.. when I went, my mom's work was having a sort of business vacation trip thing. I think it was over a weekend, so people were allowed to bring family along. I actually don't remember much about the trip. XD; Just cable cars, sourdough bread, I think we rode on a ferry or something one of the days. XD I thought the weather wasn't too bad, and the people on the streets seemed nice enough, at least where we were, haha.
Thank you~! X3

@ Lura:
Thanks! I never knew how to color before. I just look at the art that I have seen and get some ideas on how it is done.
I really like the pose as well. It is one of my favorite ones.

Well, good thing you missed the humidity! You are probably used to dry heat but not heat combined with humidity, huh? 'Cause that is how I am. X)
Living by myself was just amazing. XDD I love big cities, and public transportation in San Francisco happens to be really good, so it wasn't too inconvenient getting around without a car. I have friends in the East Bay who are currently looking for an apartment and want me to live with them. The living cost in SF is so expensive, but I like the city too much to not go back. I will be moving to Claremont with my dad first though. Get some school stuff done and probably get a job to save up.
Lol, did you visit San Francisco when you were really young? Sounds like you were at Fisherman's Wharf. ^^ SF does have a rather friendly atmosphere; it was ranked the #1 city in America for its people in a Travel & Leisure survey last year. :O I like being able to just have a conversation with a nice stranger around Union Square. xDD There are also a lot of creeps around though, unfortunately. :lol:
Thanks <3

Probably not used to it, but definitely experiences many summers of it. XD
Maybe I'm getting better, I dunno, haha.
! XD That's the kind of life I think I would like. Some time ago, I tried to picture myself living alone, with no roommates. I probably would have liked it more, but I tend to lose track of time, I'd probably end up staying up 'til three every night. XD; Claremont is pretty close (like, 10 minutes?) to my house! And I have a friend who lives in Claremont, but she goes to UCSD right now. XD
Mm.. not really. During high school sometime, probably sophomore/junior year? @[email protected] And Fisherman's Wharf sounds familiar. XD Oh! I remember we (mom, younger sister, and I) stopped for a bit and listened to some band play. We ended up leaving a long while later with a bought cd. XDD
Oh my gosh, what an awesome freebie! o.o

Ahaha my sleep schedule did get pretty weird. XD I liked having a roommate at school, but I would prefer to live alone. I can always see my friends when I go out.
Ohh cool. What is there to do in that area? I'm not really familiar with it. I used to live in Diamond Bar, if you know where that is. I have friends within an hour's drive of Claremont though, so I shouldn't have much of a problem finding things to do. I have a friend at UCSD too! :O
Did you see the bush man at Fisherman's Wharf? XDD It's this guy that dresses up as a bush and jumps out at tourists. LOL.
I messaged nenesama to ask who drew the headshot in her sig, and she said she did. She doesn't have a shop, but she offered to draw me for free. o; Of course I tipped her. *w*

Agreed! It's kind of funny that for the two different weekends my roommate left for vacation (she usually goes to sleep around 11/1130) I ended up staying up 'til around 3 or 4, I think, which was incredibly bad of me. XD;;
It's also kind of interesting to think back on the relationship between me and my roommate during freshman year; she changed to commuting this year. Last semester we ended up having a class together, a definite rarity since our majors were so different. I think, we ended up talking to each other a lot more than when we were roommates. Looking back, I kinda feel bad it happened that way, and wonder what would have happened if we stayed roommates the next/this year. >.<
Umm.. my friends and I don't usually hang around Claremont, haha. Sometime's just to go to the mall and buy stuff or just walk around? XD; We spend most of our times at Life Plaza or Diamond Plaza? You might know it as an Asian hotspot? XDD Rowland heights, Hacienda heights, we do a bunch of the same stuff there, haha.
What a coincidence! Is your friend a she? >o<
Umm.. I don't think so.. I don't remember.. XD;; Maybe someone or some people dressed up as statues and scaring people? But then I might be thinking of LA/Hollywood. XD;;;
Wow~ @[email protected]

Awh, at least you are staying in touch with her. I'm sure you can find time outside of school to hang out. What are you majoring in?
I only stayed in university dorms for a summer program, and I ended up talking to some people I met there a lot more after the program was over and we all went our separate ways. My roommate was one of the best friends I met there though. We were a great match for being roommates, which was a relief because we had both signed up for classes and housing late so we were both expecting some disgusting slob of a roommate that we wouldn't get along with at all. XD
Yeah, I wasn't expecting there to be much to do in Clarement. ^^; It seems like a quiet little place. Omg! I know Life Plaza and Diamond Plaza. I bought so many gel pens there. :lol: & Purikuraaaa! <33
Yup, her name is Galina. It's funny, she has sooo many party pictures up on her myspace ever since she went to college lolol.
There is a silver statue guy at Fisherman's Wharf sometimes. There are a lot more in Hollywood though. ;o
Yeah, seriously. There are some really sweet and generous people on Gaia, but the general atmosphere there is really selfish and greedy.

Mm.. my major is sort of in an interesting situation. XD;
I entered as an architecture, right now I'm majoring East Asian Area Studies (don't worry if you've never heard of it before XD), and pretty soon- well, next year, I'm planning to transfer to CalPoly Pomona (I'm sure you've heard of?) for Fine Arts and possibly doubling with Graphic Design. XD Apparently, there's a girl, senior, in my Japanese class who says she's changed her major soo many times. It made me feel a little better, haha~
That slob of a roommate is like, a freshman's worst nightmare, but it turns out ok, at least generally. XD I've heard some people around who've had to experience the 'roommate from hell'. XD;;; For the school I'm at (USC) they let you know your roommate contact info (if provided) so you can sort of start to get to know each other before the school year starts. I got up the courage to email my roommate(s) and it seemed ok, cuz like, our personalities are pretty similar. XD
Yeah.. Claremont is pretty quiet, haha. La Verne (where I live) is probably even more quiet. XD And I just remembered that during senior year of high school, my friends and I took frequent trips to the Borders in/by the mall to 'do study group' for our physics class. Of course, most of the time was not spent on studying, haha~
! XD My UCSD friend, Steph is pretty much obsessed with Cue! and Purikura in general, and KTV/karaoke. XD I think that's why most people who've gone into college end up making a facebook account. *ispictureshybuthasone* XDD
Hehe, there's lots of strange fun people in Hollywood's streets. XD
It's just gotten way too big for a community to stay mostly kind, I think. And the inflation scares me, yet I continue to quest. TwT;;

Well, it's more like my coloring style is almost constantly changing. Because of this, I feel like I still don't have my own unique style of drawing.. but looking back, I think I can see a pattern/tendency/style of drawing people in my artworks. This, in my mind, could be a good thing, or a bad thing. XD
But I guess in art in general, I'm very varied and don't seem to stick to any certain style.. yet, anyway. >.>
It would also be good to have different styles, if only I could 'remember' how to use those old styles again. XD;;

Nice. XD What is East Asian Area Studies exactly? I think I want to major in architecture as well. For years I thought it was going to be fashion design, but now I'm questioning whether I have the talen and creativity for that.
Haha, do you have a roommate right now? That's cool that you get their contact info so you can get to know them before you move in with them.
Borders at Puente Hills? I was sad to find out a few years ago when I went back down to LA from Monterey, that the store had closed. D:
Haha yeah, facebook is getting popular now. I've had one for a few years but I never used it much. People from my high school have added me but they don't talk to me on there. :lol: It was weird getting adds from people I didn't even talk to at school, lol.
Yeah, Gaia is huge and wayyyy understaffed. The economy is so fucked up; it's the main reason why I'm scared of the day Menewsha gets a marketplace in addition to the Exchange. I vended and exchanged on Gaia and didn't have trouble keeping up with the inflation most of the time, but I would feel mean profiting from other people or inflating items on here. o.o

Hehe. XD
There's another major called East Asian Languages and Culture (EALC). The three areas of focus or Japan, China, and Korea. For EALC, it stresses more of the languages and a bit of culture. For EAAS, it's more like.. the social aspect of these countries.
I felt that way as well, um.. well, I was mixed up between Interior Design and Architecture. Both need talent and creativity though, but maybe the creativity will come easier to you with Architecture? The Archi. program here was very demanding of time, but still a very good program. I came here to 'try out' the Archi. major. Then after fall semester, I figured this major wasn't for me, so switched out. >.< I know people who have stuck well with Architecture though. It gets better after surviving the first year. XD There are still those times when people drop out of the major after 3 years, but meh.. it just depends on the individual.
Yeah, she's a freshman this year. It seems more of just roommate relationship, but I wasn't looking for a best friend anyway. Actually, last summer, me and a friend from last year signed up to get a room together, but Housing screwed up somehow and we didn't get to be roommates, but we still live on the same floor. And yeah, sometimes I wonder if other schools do the contact info thing to. @[email protected]
I remember, and I was sad too. >.< But no, this is the Borders in/by the Montclair mall, and a new Barnes&Noble recently opened up inside the mall. XD
Agreed, it is weird. My elementary/middle school was pretty small, so we all knew each other. Then some friends from then added me on Facebook, so I added them back, but it feels kind of awkward when they don't talk to you or send messages or anything, not even a 'Happy Birthday'. @[email protected] My high school was bigger, but that means I didn't even talk to some of them. They still want to add me, but I don't add some of them back because they weren't really considered friends of mine, just someone I knew the face and name of. @[email protected];;
Yeah, I think I'd have the same feeling. >.<;; I like the marketplace just for convenience, but my thinking is that in the exchange, it'll feel more personal? I don't know. XD Gaia would probably need like 400 mods to even try to keep up.. and more security from hacking... >.>;
