Haha, I personally don't mind swearing. When used in the 'appropriate' times, they can add character to otherwise somewhat lifeless text on a computer screen. XDD

DDX Sadness..
I guess I should feel glad to be at a dorm where the only thing I need to worry about is blocked sites (rare, for some reason) and lagging. >.<;; And that my mom is pretty easy going on internet connection, just have to watch the clock to make sure I don't stay up too late. XD;
@Sakura - Depends on the meaning of still up, I guess. It's about 10.30pm here, but I usually don't go to sleep until like, 12? XDD;;

Hehe, it's amusing to me to see how much post-stalking must go on Mene, or just people following other people to other threads.
From lurking, I somewhat recognize Baja as someone who often speaks in third person, a language I dearly love to read. X3

I felt that way as well, um.. well, I was mixed up between Interior Design and Architecture. Both need talent and creativity though, but maybe the creativity will come easier to you with Architecture? The Archi. program here was very demanding of time, but still a very good program. I came here to 'try out' the Archi. major. Then after fall semester, I figured this major wasn't for me, so switched out. >.< I know people who have stuck well with Architecture though. It gets better after surviving the first year. XD There are still those times when people drop out of the major after 3 years, but meh.. it just depends on the individual.
Yeah, she's a freshman this year. It seems more of just roommate relationship, but I wasn't looking for a best friend anyway. Actually, last summer, me and a friend from last year signed up to get a room together, but Housing screwed up somehow and we didn't get to be roommates, but we still live on the same floor. And yeah, sometimes I wonder if other schools do the contact info thing to. @[email protected]
I remember, and I was sad too. >.< But no, this is the Borders in/by the Montclair mall, and a new Barnes&Noble recently opened up inside the mall. XD
Agreed, it is weird. My elementary/middle school was pretty small, so we all knew each other. Then some friends from then added me on Facebook, so I added them back, but it feels kind of awkward when they don't talk to you or send messages or anything, not even a 'Happy Birthday'. @[email protected] My high school was bigger, but that means I didn't even talk to some of them. They still want to add me, but I don't add some of them back because they weren't really considered friends of mine, just someone I knew the face and name of. @[email protected];;
Yeah, I think I'd have the same feeling. >.<;; I like the marketplace just for convenience, but my thinking is that in the exchange, it'll feel more personal? I don't know. XD Gaia would probably need like 400 mods to even try to keep up.. and more security from hacking... >.>;
|
Ohh okay, so EAAS is like social anthropology in East Asia?
It seems like architecture is more design than creativity, whereas fashion design is the other way around. I know I have an eye for aesthetics; I just don't know if I can consistently come up with new, original clothing designs. I've considered interior design too, but that involves actually building things and manual labour, right? XD I don't know how to do that kind of stuff. Did you have any experience with architecture before you went to college for it?
That sucks about your school messing up. Good thing you are both on the same floor though, so it won't be hard to find each other. :3
I haven't been to the Montclair mall much. Two bookstores in it though, oooh. @[email protected]
My high school was really small, like the size of some people's class. There were a little over 800 students in the whole school, so everyone kind of knew everyone else, or more accurately, knew of everyone else. It was a small town. I don't know why a lot of the kids from school added me on facebook. xD;
The exchange does feel more personal. I feel awkward haggling too much though. P: And there are some people I don't like and don't want to sell to, but I can't exactly go "No, I don't want to sell to you because you suck at life." :lol: Gaia needs like... a hundred times more mods than they have. >__>;; It's insane how much scamming goes on there, and they take months or often over a year to reply to feedback about hackings and such.

Yeah, that's it. XD
Very true. >.< I'm not actually sure about interior design though, I never looked into it that thoroughly. XD;;; And I had pretty much no experience with architecture before college. I just liked to look at buildings and wonder why the architect had set it up that way/added that element/used this material/etc. I suppose getting into architecture terms and all that stuff wasn't too difficult in the first semester. The area I had the most trouble in though, was design. I eventually dropped the design class and left the major to undeclared, since it was too much work and hassel to retake a class in a 5 year program. Since design is also a pretty big part of architecture, I decided this major really wasn't for me. x.x
Yup. And I end up helping her with Chinese sometimes, so she just has to walk across to the other side of the building floor to ask. XD
Hmm.. yeah, the Montclair mall is the one that has Anime Club (or something) in it, but pretty much everything is overpriced. XD; The Barnes&Noble bookstore is still pretty new, I think, so you'll still find a bigger selection in the Borders close by, haha. My high school was the same, I think 800-1000 students total? My graduating class was the smallest in a while, I don't remember the exact number. XD;; Haha, sometimes I wonder if they just add me because 1- they know my name and/or face or 2- to show other people they know me (somewhat)?
Haha, but it's interesting to see sellers are a little more open to haggling as well. XD Yeah.. I think it's been a bit more than half a year now, I haven't heard back on my hacking report yet. I think protection of victims is a little tiny better though - like contacting a mod to take some actions to protect the account from doing anything else. I was very thankful to a friend who told me about asking a mod to cancel trades for the account that was hacked. So I was fortunate enough to have noticed before the hacker could steal anything, but it has apparently already been used to send scam PMs and stuff (not so much anymore now though, I think the person abandoned it).

I just gathered that about interior design from the reality show Top Design on Bravo. ^^ Did you have to put together a portfolio for architecture? And what was it about design that was difficult for you, if you don't mind me asking?
I've never heard about the Anime Club. I'm not really into anime anyways. P: Lol @ everything being overpriced, that's lame. XDD I have no idea about the facebook thing. It doesn't seem like a popularity contest the way some people treat myself.
It's good right now that there is no marketplace to compare prices to, so people can't go "but that's ____ less than market value!" That always annoyed me on Gaia because uh, if I wanted to pay vend price, I'd buy from the vend instead of the Exchange. :P I hope you get your account and items back! D: I know a few people who recently got theirs back. A year seems to be typical for sorting out hacking cases. & Hey, your items will all be worth so much more when you get them back. It's like an involuntary longterm investment. XD <33

@Caroline - Mm.. for one of the schools I applied to I had to send in a portfolio, the other (calpoly pomona) I didn't. @[email protected] Basically consisted of random art projects from high school classes, I don't think I had anything related to architecture in my portfolio, but I still got in~ XD;;
Hm.. I think it was just the concepts that were hard, for me personally, to understand and use when designing a building (or whatever it was we had to design). We'd get a bunch of readings on precedents (houses, buildings, and other stuff that are like, basic you-should-know-these architects/buildings) for examples. The first semester, we had a drawing class, design class, and archi history class. There was one project where one side was the edge of a foresty region, the other, large/wide flat farmland-ish area, with a tiny barn or something out there. We had to design a wall to act as a sort of transition between these two using limited resources (glass/plexiglass could also be used), a limited height, and limited space/width/area that the wall could fit in. We had to come up with a bunch of designs and many 'sketch' models before making the final. It was interesting at first, but I think it's my personality that makes me commit myself to just one or two designs while the teachers stress making a lot and then narrowing it down to the best designs.
Yeah, even when all I did was lurk in the exchange, it always kind of bothered me that the marketplace price was constantly brought up. Thank you for the thought! I'm pretty patient in getting my stuff back (hopefully) but I just worry that I won't because of whatever might have happened to my account while the hacker had access to it. But too bad a lot of those items I wouldn't want to sell. Though I did keep my letters on there, I hope it was actually worth it, this involuntary investment! XDDD
Haha, I think I've been telling too many stories in this thread. It makes me wonder if I should be happy or otherwise about getting these 20g posts. XD;
Hello, Aven! Hope you've been well~ XD
@htownwera13 - Oh yes, a shop is definitely planned, to open eventually.. XD;; (as soon as I find time to finish the freebies!)

LOL. XD That's awesome 'cause I don't really have a clue how to put together a portfolio.
Hm yeah, I had to come up with a lot of designs for fashion design assignments and narrow it down to 6-8 for the final product, but I tend to discard ideas if I don't like them all that much to begin with. I'd come up with like 10-12 to pick from.
I'm sure they could differentiate between what the hacker did on your account and what you did. ^^ Maybe they could track IPs and see that it wasn't you scamming people. Yeah, net worth isn't that useful to me because I wouldn't sell most of it. xD You'll probably find things you forgot you had.
Lolol. 20g posts are cool.

Hehe. XD;
Basically--
+> pictures centered nicely and slightly higher for description
- they asked for us to not send the actual work -- rather a photograph or scan instead
+> descriptions were pretty simple
- title (if any), media, size, and date (if you remember XD)
- oh! and personal project, or for school XD;
I don't really remember, but I think I organized the pictures by date, oldest to new. @[email protected]
And same, usually whenever I think of something, but think more and realize it's not even that good, I don't bother to sketch it because I don't think it's worth it. Thus, whenever we're assigned a minimum amount, I tend to come up with only half that number or maybe a little more. *sighsigh*
I hope so. >.< Yeah, I think it's happened to me already.
I'll be on my mule>now-main thinking of some new outfit, then go "oh! how 'bout-- oh wait, it's on the other one.. I think.." XD;
Haha, they are! I was so excited when I posted my first 20g post. XDD

Oooh. Okay. Sounds easy enough. I'll need the help of friends to apply for colleges, since I've been out of school for a while so I don't get a counselor or anything to guide me through the process. >_>
Exactly -- a lot of ideas don't even make it onto paper, and some that do make it don't get fully sketched out because I realise part of the way through that it sucks. XD
A while ago I remembered an old mule I had for trying on Prize & Joy items, and she had a whole outfit of Prize & Joy stuff on. :'D There wasn't anything expensive, but it was still a nice surprise.

Resident. My mom thinks I should apply as international because colleges have to let in a certain amount of international students, but that idea is just appalling to me and I'd feel like I cheated and was under qualified for the rest of my life. -__-
I wonder that too. P: I just don't see the point in fully sketching out an idea if I decide I don't like it before I finish.

I'd think applying as resident would be easier to get in, no? Plus, I think some schools don't give international students financial aid. @[email protected] I heard about this from someone else, but I don't remember if they were referring to both private and public schools.. for sure private though, at least USC.
Probably has to do with 'seeing things from a different point of view' and all that stuff. XD
We had an assignment in design fundamentals class, making black and white contrasts for balance, variety, repetition, emphasis. My art teacher was looking through my sketchbook, stopping at one page where I was just sketching some clovers from the part nearby. The sketch wasn't even finished, but she seemed to like how it looked as a sketch idea for one of the themes (I forget which). >.<;
I didn't end up using it, by the way. XDD;

I'm not sure. xD I am a resident of the US though, so I think it would only be right if I applied as such.
That's true. We're our own toughest critics, so someone else could see potential in our work that we missed. Hahaha I have a story too. XD I was sitting outside with a friend during a break from interior architecture & design, and we were smoking cigarettes. We had just finished a project of building a model of a building facade, and I had thought mine was too plain and kind of boring. These two boys from our class came out and started half jokingly telling us how smoking is BAD and we were going to DIE, and one of them told me, "YOU actually have something to live for!" and he told me how much he liked my project and how I have so much potential in that field. O.O; It was a huge shock because I had thought my project was the worst in the class. :lol:

Question (out of curiosity) -
How many people were in your design class? And if a lot, how were they broken down into groups (if at all)? @[email protected]
Wow, Sakura, it's um.. good to be missed? XD;
