No one's reccomended Hellsing yet? I really enjoyed the manga, and the anime's pretty good as well. It's a vampire anime.

I'll reccomend some series that I've recently watched.

Rozen Maiden- Good comedic anime, with some heartwarming moments. The main character, Jun pretty much gets ovverrun with living dolls that are fated to destroy each other in order to finally meet their 'father'/creator.

Girls Bravo!- It's an OMG funny series in the 'harem' genere. Meaning lots of half-clothed women. It pretty much encompasses all Japanese fetishes in really ridiculous ways. I reccomend it 100% if you're into perverted comedy. I just finished it, and it's one of my favourites.

The Vision of Escaflowne- I actually own this whole series because I love it so much. It's a great classic anime. The main character, Hitomi is an average school girl that gets sent to the world of Gaea, where she ends up helping Van, the prince of a destroyed country, save the world with his mecha, Escaflowne.

FLCL- Everyone should watch FLCL. It's awesome. A completely random anime about a boy who sprouts mecha from his forhead.

Neon Genesis Evangelion- Again, another must-watch anime classic. Giant robots and religious undertones. It's fantastic.

Honestly, if you want psychological horror/suspense, you can't get much better than Monster. It's not gory, but it blows just about every other mystery anime out of the water with its depth, tension and its meditations on the darker side of human nature. Plus, it's incredibly suspenseful.

The story is about Dr. Kenzo Tenma, a genius neurosurgeon who risks his career by operating on a boy named Johan instead of the politician he was scheduled to treat. Johan remembers this kindness - he grows up to be a charismatic and ruthless serial killer, and comes back for Tenma, sparking a chase across Germany, and a quest to reveal Johan's mysterious origins.

Here, check out the intro and outro to Monster to see what I mean:

There's so many anime that I could suggest but I'll be good and only list a few. I will say that Gundam 00 just keeps getting better and better with every new episode.

Persona Trinity Soul: "In the midst of the crisis, two brothers named Shin and Jun Kanzato move back to Ayanagi to see their elder brother RyĹŤ, who is now the Superintendent of the Ayanagi City Police. It has been ten years since the three siblings last met with each other." If you're a video gamer and you've played Persona 3 then you want to watch it because it takes place 10 years after

Rental Magica: "Due to his father's disappearance, Itsuki Iba has to take over the family business: a magician dispatch service called 'Astral' which rents out magicians to those in need of magical assistance." Really funny series, and although it's only 26 or so episodes you get a lot out of it

D.N Angel: "Niwa Daisuke is your average teenager, until his fourteenth birthday. He tries to declare his love to the girl of his dreams, but fails. Suddenly, whenever he thinks about this girl he turns into the legendary phantom thief known as Dark Mousy. Daisuke's mother, very much aware of this, makes him turn into Dark and steal valuable works of art for a purpose unkown to Daisuke." Very good series; a lot more cute than the others I've mentioned, but there is a lot of serious plot

If you like shonen-ai, or are not adverse to hinted at boy/boy pairings (it's not heavy though) and you like fantasy I would definitely suggest Kyou Kara Maou who's tagline would have to be "Flushed into another world to become a king." It's really hilarious and on the longer side with a new season being aired in Japan starting in April

I second that notion. o wo;; Higurashi is amazing. <33 However, it's hard to understand unless you read the manga/play the game or watch the second arc of the second series. o wo;; The second series isn't really as scary so much as it is about resolving all of the problems in the first season.

Can't wait to see the third season of Higurashi. o wo;;; -squeals-

...Everyone's been mentioning Jigoku Shoujo. I think I'mma go watch that myself. o wo;;;

Heck yes! I have to agree with Taliah, Tenchi is one of my favorites and should be viewed by everyone.

I would have to contribute:
Zombie Loan - The story about two different boys that got in a train wreck and died and now work as zombies with a girl to hunt the undead for a bounty to pay back the man that resurrected them and gain back there humanity.

DearS - The story of a boy that meets an alien girl and ends up becoming her master. After that alien women start falling out of the clear blue, causing him all sorts of problems. It is a bit eechi and it has about the same plot as chobits but the art is amazing in my opinion and it captivated my interest... and i find that vary difficult... OHMIGOD!~ A GOSE!~ *points*

Spice and wolf: A merchant one day befriends and apple loving wolf god and promises to take her to the north... I think it is the north... I might have to check again. But they have an interesting journey full of twists and turns in the plot, not to mention the hilarious ending theme.

Well that would have to be my contribution... If i write too much I might start rambling and spamming... O-O; Good luck getting into anime! Oh and if someone hasn’t already mentioned it, look up elfin lied, they are my noble masters, Utawarerumono and Vandread. They are all great in my opinion.
