Something like that happened to me once. I was wearing this skirt I had just bought, that tiered so that it looked like it was belling out at the bottom, but each tier was separated by one inch of lace, so it went fabric-lace-fabric-lace-fabric-lace all the way down the skirt. Well when I went to stand up from my desk at work and tugged my skirt down a little the lace ripped clear across on both sides at the hips. There was absolutely nothing I could do about it >o<

Best thing you can do is call up your grandparents and ask them to check and makesure they have it >o< if they can't find it, well, I hope it didn't cost you much ;~~;

I always buy "cheap" clothing, from the non-designer stores, and it lasts me ages. Whilst all the fashionable stuff costs 3 times more and falls apart so quickly, or is generally badly made.

I would be annoyed if my clothing actually just started to rip randomly. I would probably never buy from that store again.

hehe that's true, I still have my old school uniform trousers (Just black trousers) from 8 years ago and they are still in near perfect condition. That's why I went onto hand made clothes in the first place. Because the quality is better than store clothes.

Heh. I guess it goes to show that cost does not necessarily equal quality.

I seriously mistrust designer anything.

I get most of my clothes second hand, and I figure, if it's made it through a thrift store, it'll probably hold up a good while longer. :|

That's so bad. I've never had that happen to me, but I once bought this really great shirt and a bit expensive, too, and it was probably the first shirt I picked on my own without my mother being there telling me what to get and what not. So I really liked this shirt and we moved to a new home closer to my brother's school and the house had an ants problem. I had no idea they were going to one day take residence in my freaking closet so when I woke up one day and I went to get my beloved shirt there were freaking ants all over my clothes, and some in my bed. I took everything out and I saw that most of my shirts had tiny holes in them (another reason why I dislike ants so much). So I panic and check my new shirt and it had holes everywhere, some were tiny and some a bit big. I wanted to get the water hose and send them all to...well I took a wet napkin and took care of them. I really liked that shirt and it got wrecked before it even had a year with me. Now we fumigate so our pesky bug problem is done. Stupid ants.

Holy crap, I'm sorry. D:
Never happened to me though.

Was it made of cheap silk or something?

Nope, the tag says it's the same as the band t-shirts I have. But my band t-shirts don't fall appart. Not a clue why this one is.

Some of my outfits constantly need attending to during the day (pull collar up, un-ruffle sleeves, readjust scarf, etc.) but I've never had clothes fall apart while I'm wearing them. Sometimes they fall to pieces after being washed the wrong way a few times, but thankfully I can patch them up before wearing them again. Anyway, I can generally tell if my clothes are well-made before I buy them. Anything that looks questionably put together is put back on the clothing rack or given to an employee for someone who doesn't mind sewing as much as I do.

That is quite odd..
That has never happened to me, not that I know of.
I guess it's just something involved with the fabric they used, the fabric might not have been very strong so therefor it rips easily like if you move a small move.

That's terrible. I've never had clothes fall apart that quickly. I can understand a seam coming undone slowly, but it's just scary to have a new rip everytime you look down.

Surely they'll at least let you exchange it for a different top even if you can't find the reciept...especially if you just bought it and this is your first time wearing it.

D: Well, my boyfriend bought me a "rogue" shirt from jinx and it got a hole in it within a month of me wearing it. It makes me sad because I like the shirt but the material is rather thin. I have not have random rips appear though, that is just odd.

I once bought a pair of jeans from Wal-Mart that was very comfortable, but it was so comfortable that it fell apart on me! The threads just began to separate on the back, and when I took it off to examine the damage, I found a pile of threads was left instead of a hole... weird... I guess the stitching holding the jeans fabric together fell apart altogether... THIS is why I don't buy jeans from Wal-Mart.

I guess it would depend on how the fabric was treated, how it was put together, etc. Even if it's made out of the same thing as something else, there are many different factors that contribute to the strength of the fabric.

I used to always get stockings from Hot Topic. They'd fall apart/get runs in them so easily. D':

Has this ever happened to you?
XD Only once with designer jeans. I fell and the knee ripped but I caught myself so that shouldn't have happened. Designer anything SUCKS for quality.

What did you do?
Nothin' at first cause I had to go to school. My aunt later patched them from the inside so I wouldn't look like one of "farmer Joe's yungin's." XD

Think I can get a refund even though I left my reciept and grandad has probably binned it?
Doubtful unless you can get them to pull the security tapes which I doubt they'll do just to confirm that you bought the shirt. :( Ah well, just fix it with a ton of nasty looking stitching and wear something actually cool.
